DT Assignment 2 App

The document discusses design thinking and its process. It describes design thinking as a non-linear iterative process consisting of 5 phases - Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. These phases are used to understand users, challenge assumptions, and create innovative solutions. [The document then provides examples of ideas generated during the Ideation phase to address the problem of how students can build skills during lockdown. It proposes creating an app that provides links to free online courses to help students learn.] Finally, it discusses prototyping one of the ideas by creating a mock-up of a mobile application called "Crack Your Skills" that would provide students access to online learning resources and courses.

ASSIGNMENT-2

Design thinking:
Design thinking is a non-linear, iterative process which seeks to understand users, challenge
assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. The
method consists of 5 phases—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test and is most
useful when you want to tackle problems that are ill-defined or unknown.

Design thinking refers to the cognitive, strategic and practical processes by which design

concepts (proposals for new products, buildings, machines, etc.) are developed. Many of the
key concepts and aspects of design thinking have been identified through studies, across
different design domains, of design cognition and design activity in both laboratory and
natural contexts. Design thinking is also associated with prescriptions for the innovation of
products and services within business and social contexts. Some of these prescriptions have
been criticized for oversimplifying the design process and trivializing the role of technical
knowledge and skills.

Process of design thinking:

The Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford, commonly known as the d.school,
describes design thinking as a five-stage process. It’s important to note these stages
are not always sequential and designers can often run the stages in parallel, out of order and
repeat them in an iterative fashion.

The various stages of design thinking should be understood as different modes which
contribute to the entire design project, rather than sequential steps. The ultimate goal
throughout is to derive as deep an understanding of the product and its users as possible.

1. Empathize – Research your user’s needs

2. Define - State your user’s needs and problems
3. Ideate - Challenge assumptions and create ideas
4. Prototype - Start to create solutions
5. Test - Try your solutions out

By using prototyping step in design thinking process we are going to implement a solution by
using ideas which are offered in Ideation stage, for the following problem.

What students should do to build their Technical/ Aptitude/ Soft Skills during
LOCKDOWN with the impact of corona virus Epidemic?

Ideate:

Ideation is the third phase of the Design Thinking process, and it’s all about generating ideas.
Before we explore ideation in more detail, let’s briefly recap on the five stages of Design
Thinking: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Now, it’s important to remember
that Design Thinking is not a strictly linear process. However, the insights and outcomes
derived from the Empathise and Define stages (getting to know your users and setting out a
clear problem statement) will guide and inform a productive ideation session.

The Ideas that offer in Ideation stage are:

1. Students should plan for their future about what they should learn.
2. They should know about them of what type of skills they are lacking, like ( Aptitude,
Reasoning and Soft skills)
3. Some people are felt that they may lose enjoyment, for that they may prepare a schedule
for studies and enjoyment.
4. They need teaching material or proper equipment but some people may not able to get
that like mobile phones, laptops etc., so for that type people may get tutorial classes in
Television, channels like DD Saptagiri, swayam prabha, Sansriti, Prabodh, Vidhik, Nptel,
Prabandhan etc.,
5. That may also get equipment from their cousin’s sisters, brothers or from their
neighbours.
6. We provide some tutorial links for them
7. They are so many online platforms are provided for learning skills.
8. They are so many E-plat form networking sites provide various FREE online courses and
also they provide certifications for students. The courses like NPTEL, COURSERA,
INTERNSHALA, OPEN LEARNING,OXFORD HOME STUDY, LINKEDIN
LEARNING, FREE CODE CAMP, SKILL SHARE etc.,
9. Some students told that they are lacking in communication for that people purpose there
are some applications which provide in various languages and offer courses too..
10. Some applications like Indiabix, Logical reasoning, Text book, langue’s, Home tutor,
Daily prape etc.,
11. Some people say like they are suffering from stress, for reducing stress they need to take
proper nutritious food and maintain time for learning and as well as rest.
12. Take much water for reducing health hazards.
13. For avoiding disturbances sit in a peaceful place.
14. Spend time for you and your family of maintain time properly
15. Some told that material maintainance cost is very high, Now days so many recharge
offers available with less cost and high speed internet.
16. Some people even don’t whatever the courses exists, for that purpose we provide them
some online courses links like…

PROTOTYPE:

A prototype in design thinking is “A simulation or sample version of a final product, which is
used for testing prior to launch.” The goal of a prototype is to test products (and product
ideas) before spending lots of time and money into creating the final version of the sellable
product. Prototyping in design thinking is the process of creating simple wireframes to testing
fully functional mock-ups Prototypes are one of the most important steps in the  design process,
yet it is very confusing to create and execute.

A prototype can be almost anything from a series of sketches representing different screens of
the final version of the pixel-perfect product. Human beings are highly visual. In fact, 30 percent
of our cerebral cortex is devoted purely to vision So when you see a prototype, the most
important thing about it is that you see it! When the client can view it, and understand all of the
processes involved with the product, especially areas of contention for future testing, that
prototype comes to life.

The fourth space of the design thinking innovation process is implementation, when the best
ideas generated during ideation are turned into something concrete.
At the core of the implementation process is prototyping: turning ideas into actual products
and services that are then tested, evaluated, iterated, and refined. A prototype, or even a rough
mock-up helps to gather feedback and improve the idea. Prototypes can speed up the process
of innovation because they allow quick identification of strengths and weaknesses of
proposed solutions, and can prompt new ideas.
In this problem we have to create an application for the students learning
purpose:
Then coming to the application, It is an app which gives information to the students related to
courses that available on the E-plat form. In this application more than 50 website links are
available. We try to make students can get the free online courses easily by using my
application.
Logo of application:

Application name: Crack your Skills

App storage space: 76.17 MB
App features:
 This can provide online platform form for the students
 It have more number of website links of free online courses
 Aptitude and Reasoning practice questions are available here
 It provide Aptitude and Reasoning lectures and assessments
