1.0 Introduction
This specification covers the minimum mandatory requirements for the design,
manufacture, inspection, testing and supply of Marine Loading Hoses for use with
Liquid Petroleum Products (Gasoline, Diesel, Mogas, Fuel oil) in the Oil Terminal
Facilities at Merak, Indonesia.
2.0 Scope of Supply
The scope of service includes the supply of the following material as per the
requirements of this specification:
8” dia x 10 M long Marine Loading hoses, IMO approved or BS 1435 conforming for
use in fuel oil service
The hoses shall be flanged ends on both the ends with carbon steel flanges. Flanges
shall be to ANSI B16.5, 150 lbs, RF standard with fixed flange on one end and floating
flange on the other end.
3.0 Technical Requirements
3.1 Construction
a. Hoses shall be composite type constructed from multi-layers of thermo plastic
films which forms a sealing and permeation barrier, supported by fabric layers
for mechanical strength.
b. The composite hose shall be of suitable for the application, lightweight, kink
proof and flexible for ease of handling. The flexibility shall be retained at the
minimum atmospheric temperatures
c. Both inner and outer wires of the composite hose shall be connected to each
end fittings for electrical continuity to prevent static discharge.
d. Composite hoses shall be supplied with anti-scruff rings at every 1 meter
distance to protect the hose from external damage.
e. Hose identification numbers shall be clearly marked on the hose
f. Hoses shall be IMO code approved or BS1435 conforming
g. All hoses shall be capable of withstanding the marine environment.
3.2 Material specifications
a. All the materials shall be suitable for the products, service conditions and
climatic conditions
b. Product carrying parts shall be constructed of materials, which do not cause
galvanic action with the connected carbon steel product pipe.
c. Fasteners for the flanged end hoses shall be A193 Gr.B7 & A194 Gr.2H hot
dip galvanised.
d. Gaskets for the flanged end hoses shall be Graphite.
3.3 Painting of End Connectors
External surface of the hose fittings shall be painted to the following system
suitable for marine environment. Gasket seating faces and threaded surfaces
shall not be painted.
a. Blast clean to SA 2½ finish as per Swedish standard SIS 055900.

b. Primer - 1 coat, 2 component epoxy primer containing zinc silicate corrosion
inhibiting pigments with 75 microns minimum DFT.
c. Intermediate Coats - 2 coats, 2 component high-build epoxy with micaceous
iron oxide pigments, of 75 microns minimum DFT each.
d. Top Coat - 1 coat of 50 microns minimum DFT polyurethane paint of specified
shade. Final shade of the unit will after award of Contract.
e. Total Paint Thickness shall be 275 microns DFT min.
4.0 Tests and Inspection
4.1 Tests
a. Hoses shall be hydrostatically tested to 1.5 times the design pressure
b. Each hose shall be individually serialized and delivered with its own test
certificate.
c. Suitable methods shall be adopted during pressure test to verify leak in hose
as well as at the joints between hose and end fitting.
d. Hoses shall have full end-to-end electrical continuity with less than 10 ohms
resistance.
e. Report for elongation check during pressure test shall be provided. The same
shall be in line with relevant standards / code.
4.2 Inspection
Contractor shall provide the inspection report of the following as a minimum:-
a. Material certificates - Type EN 10204-3.1.B or Equivalent
b. Hydrostatic test certficate
c. Joint leakage test results
d. Electrical continuity test
e. Elongation results
f. Dimensional verification
5.0 Documentation
5.1 For Approval
FOUR sets of the following documents as a minimum shall be submitted for
review and approval.
a. Drawings with all relevant dimensions
b. Safety Instruction Sheet
c. Calculations, as applicable
d. Data Sheets and Specifications
