OBJECTIVE
Special education teacher seeking a middle or high school learning support position. I bring 26 years as an
educator, 15 years as the mother of a special education student, and eight years building relationships with
teachers and students as a paraeducator. I want to serve families by helping their students graduate and be ready
for life beyond school.
TRAINING

I am student teaching with Ms. Helena Miller as a special education learning support teacher. Students are grades
9–12 with a mixed-grade advisory, social skills, study skills classes, and two 12th grade learning support English
classes. Over 50 percent of my time in this position consist of teaching these classes, including planning,
implementing, and grading lessons plus relating to students, staff, and family members, writing IEPs, and leading
meetings with families.

I worked in Intensive Learning Support with students and accompanied them to general education classes. I
worked with them on academic and behavioral goals. I am Right Response certified. I worked with students on
positive behavior and being sensitive to aces, triggers, and diverse backgrounds. Assisting students with English,
social studies, science, and French, and maintained positive, motivating connections remotely and in person.

I was hired to work with a student who had health issues and needed a wheelchair after major surgery. She
recovered well, and I was reassigned to the science wing, aiding one on one with students who had special
concerns: ELL, autism, ADHD, and behavior issues. I was rehired the next year to work as a one-on-one aide with a
seventh grade boy with ADHD and difficult behavior issues and assisting him in all his classes.

I teach summer camps, support our teachers, field parent concerns, and help supervise our summer camp
program. I help advertise our education programs, recruit volunteers, and photograph the final student plays. I
have taught for GreenStage camps since 2011. Currently, I am constructing Zoom class offers with our teachers.

I began working here as a substitute in fall 2015. I was then hired as a part-time paraeducator working one on one
with a high-impact student, supporting a high cap classroom, and supervising students at lunch/playground. Later

I subbed mostly in an Early Childhood program and an autism classroom. I was requested as a one-on-one aide for
special ed students often. I assisted teachers as requested, and worked as an elementary lunchroom or playground
monitor, middle school paraeducator, high school paraeducator, behavior specialist, test proctor, and office
worker. Both districts often called me to work one on one with special ed students.

I taught the 400-level Directing class in spring 2003 and taught three semesters of the 200-level Drama
Appreciation class as an adjunct instructor. In 2007, I was rehired as an acting coach for a student.

I created and maintained this yearlong educational program for children and adults at this community theatre for
six years. I taught the majority of the classes and hired other teachers as necessary. We began with five students
and ended with nearly 300. I taught students from ages 3 to 83.

proposals and two were successful. (Unfortunately, this organization closed in 2010.)

I transitioned from being a board member to interim AD in January 2002. I was the liaison to the board for the
directors, actors, and technical workers in making policies. (This theatre closed in 2004.)
