I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Identify the use of modals in the sentence
b. give importance on using modals in the sentence and ;
c. write a sentence by using modals
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Using modal correctly p. 206-208
References: Essential English 7, De Vera E., Francisco N., Gonzales C.
Materials: Book, Visual aids, laptop, TV, white board, white board marker
III. Preliminary Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of Attendance
Review the previous lesson

A. Activity
The teacher will divide the students into three (3) groups and they were
going to form the crossword puzzle. The group who finish first will be held as
winner.
B. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions
1. What have you observed in the activity?
2. What are those words?
3. What is our lesson for this afternoon?

C. Abstractions
The teacher will discuss the topic about modals and their uses that
expresses
Ability (can could)
Permission (May)
Obligation (must)
Advice (should)
Possibility (might, will, shall)
D. Application
The teacher will group the students into a three groups and they were
going to write a sentence that expresses (permission, ability, advice,
obligation, and possibility.) and they will present in the class and will be check
by the teacher.
IV.Evaluation
In a ½ sheet of paper identify the modals use in the sentence that expresses
(permission, obligation, advice, ability, possibility)
1. You must stop when the traffic light turn red (obligation)
2. You may enter the room this afternoon (permission)
3. He might be exhausted after a long trip (possibility)
4. You may enter the room, if you remove your shoes (permission)
5. You should visit your cousin twice a month (advice)
6. I must memorize the piece for my declamation (obligation)
7. I can stop the rain, if you wish to have me (ability)
8. You should come with us to face the consequences of your wrong actions
(advice)
9.He will win the competition because of his hard work (possibility)
10. May I borrow your pen? ( permission )
V. Assignment
In a ½ sheet of paper write a sentence using the different modal that expresses
different condition.
