Standard operating procedure of ABC Powder refill


Scope of work of ABC powder refill are:
 Dismantle all the parts of the fire extinguisher such as hose, safety pin and the
extinguisher’s head.
 Be aware of remaining pressurized nitrogen inside the cylinder by slowly
dismantle the extinguisher’s head.
 Make sure that the head is serviced by cleaning the valve stem, pull the spring,
replace the safety pin and O-Ring.
 Weight the cylinder to record the remaining powder inside, the net weight of the
cylinder is varied according to the total weight of the fire extinguisher from the
manufacturer.
 Mount the cylinder to the Sunico dry powder refilling machine in order to begin
the refilling.
 Make sure that the amount of dry powder is calculated correctly to prevent the
overflow by weight the amount of dry powder to suck in.
 Turn on the Sunico dry powder refilling machine to suck the dry powder, make
sure that you aware of the amount of dry powder to be sucked in.
 After reaches the amounts that desired remove the hose and wait until all the dry
powder enter the cylinder.
 Tighten the cylinder’s head in order to refill the nitrogen gas into the cylinder.
 Attach the filler hose to the cylinder, make sure the hose is attached perfectly to
prevent any leakage.
 Hold the operating lever to let the nitrogen gas fill the cylinder, slowly turn the
valve from the nitrogen cylinder. Be aware that in the initial the ABC powder
cylinder will jump a bit.
 Pressurize the cylinder until the pressure gauge reach the green area.
 Slowly let the operating lever and turn of the nitrogen cylinder valve in order to
stop the refill.
 Remove the filler hose and undergo the leaking test by submerging the cylinder.

2. Standard operating procedure of Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher refill
Scope of work for carbon dioxide refill are:
 Release the remaining CO2 gas from the cylinders to empty it, be aware that the
cylinder will be frosted over.
 Cool down the CO2 cylinder using refrigerator for 1 hour in order to speed up the
refill process.
 Weigh the CO2 cylinder
 Attach the hose from the outlet of carbon dioxide refilling machine but before
refill the cylinder makes sure that the valve in the larger CO 2 cylinder is open.
 Purge out the remaining gas from carbon dioxide refilling machine to know that
the supply gas from the larger cylinder is flowing.
 Slowly turn the carbon dioxide refilling control to begin the refill process.
 Make sure always keep an eye to the weight in order to know the limit of the
refill process.
 After the refill process close the carbon dioxide control and the cylinder valve to
stop the refill.
 Disconnect the filler host and do the leakage test by submerging the CO 2 cylinder.
 Before turning of the carbon dioxide refilling machine it is recommended to
purge out the remaining CO2 inside the machine.
