The Kensington Learning Space / Plan Architect

Principle: The site location is sitting in the Bangkok suburban area with the not-so-interesting
surrounding.

The highlight space of this building where the ribbon is fold from floor to ceiling creates the uncommon
perception for kids the slope and curve shape boost the kids learning skill. The lower curve part is a free
play space linking with the reception and coffee shop. More than that, under the slope plane is design to
be a hide and seek space for kids. For the upper curve part, the assembly hall is set to be place for kid’s
performance and parents meeting where the seating step is follow the architectural form.

For the outside of ribbon, the continuous shape is link from ground to the top making playing path for
kids running to the step roof garden. With the multi big step, the space is defied to be each play space for

different kind of play at the same time. The intention of playful and juicy space design along with the
greenery nature atmosphere around, it both blend and become a place where learning space and playing
space are sitting among the nature.

Location: Thanon Ratchaphruek, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Thailand

Landscape Elements:

1. Wood posts
- For seating areas; additional landscape elements
2. Swing made from steel bars
- For the children
3. Grass lawn
- To achieve the desire atmosphere that the designer wants within the space
4. White sand
- Create contrast to the ambience
5. Poured-In-Place Rubber Slope Plane
- The slope plane is added to link with the second floor. It is also being the play object with slider
and the net tree pierce the second floor linking from ground to the ceiling. More than that, under
the slope plane is design to be a hide and seek space for kids. For the upper curve part, the
assembly hall is set to be place for kid’s performance and parents meeting where the seating step
is follow the architectural form.

6. Trees
- For shading and lowering heat gain in the open space

Ket & Co School

Principle: By opting for a compact and modular building volume the design team managed to minimalize
the footprint and avoided further densification of the neighborhood by simultaneously providing more
than ample outdoor playground for the children.

The characteristic color provides a strong and recognizable identity for Ket & Co and establishes
the school as a playful, eye-catching beacon for this vibrant neighborhood

Location: 1080 Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, Belgium

- Serves as the surface of the outdoor spaces
2. Translucent Canopies
- provide shelter while playing outdoors

- Transformed into additional playground tools

NEO Bankside

Design Principle:

The final landscape features soft planting inspired by native woodlands, balancing beautifully with the
contemporary lines of the buildings. Unusually in the heart of a city, the outdoor spaces offer NEO
Bankside’s residents opportunities to engage with nature, and create a new micro-ecological environment
in this established urban setting.

1. Stones
- create ‘rooms’ within the landscape as well as lead the eye through the landscape
2. Pavements
- as either stepping stones or main pathwalk
3. Ornamental Grass and Moss
- creates an elegant balance between hard and soft and transforms the landscape path into an
important garden feature
4. Low Maintenance Plants
- contemporary landscaping tends to favour hardy, drought tolerant plants such as succulents,
native grasses, cycads, and clipped foliage

Lower Sproul Redevelopment

Design Principle: The Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project is a student based initiative that called for
recasting the existing facilities at Lower Sproul Plaza into a revitalized and state-of-the-art facility
combining both new construction and adaptive reuse strategies.

- Floor finish of the landscape; giving it an elegant finish

Altavas Elementary School

Design Principle: This school in Altavas, Aklan flaunts in full color as the teachers and the parents of
students in Altavas Elementary School help design the colorful school grounds, making use of some
recyclable materials.

Location: Altavas, Aklan, Philippines

Landscape Elements:

1. Recycled tires
- Used like a retaining wall and planters for the garden
2. Ornamental plants
- Planted inside the tires and pots to create balance between natural and synthetic features
3. Stones
- Creates boundaries for the landscapes
4. Cracked floor tiles
- Used as pavements for the landscape
