INTRODUCTION

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of

knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. It is also the action of educating or
to be educated. Education is the field of study that deals mainly with methods
of teaching and learning in school. Educational methods include teaching,
training, storytelling, discussion and directed research. Ellen G. White says that
education presented the great, guiding principles that make up true education
in its broadest way.

This portfolio is the compilation of our learning in education. It is

composed of the personal philosophy in education, the academic journey,
compilation of the worksheets and the example of students modules and
teachers guide. It also includes the pictures of our activities during the pre –
service teacher’s duty in elementary school.

My Personal Philosophy in Education

I believe that God created human in His image. God’s original plan for
human was perfect. But suddenly man committed sin which corrupted their
nature and detached themselves from God. Despite the situation, God took
initiative of saving them. He gave His begotten Son to die on the cross to save
human being.

I believe that God loves human so much and I believe that education is
one of the gifts from God that I can use to spread the gospel. Education is the
way of spreading the love of God to human. As what Mrs. White said in Counsels
to Parents, Teachers, and Students that education is test information of the
arrangement of salvation, and this learning is verified sincere and determined
investigation of the scriptures. I believe that to be educated is one of the ways
to build the character in re – establishing the lost image of God.

I believe that God called me to be a teacher, to share how big His love to
human. And I believe that genuine learning originates from God and goes back
to God.
PERSONAL PRAYER

Father God,

I come to you today and give thanks for all the blessings that you showered
upon me. Thank you for choosing me as one of a future teacher.

Father, please fill my hearts with courage by your mighty Spirit. Fill me with your
strength, so I may rise to every challenge and not grow weary. Fill me with your
wisdom, so that I may be able to do this task with your guidance. Fill me with
your peace, so that when stress and anxiety comes into my life it would not
overwhelm. Fill me with your joy, so that the passion of the subjects that I maybe
teach will become an infectious passion that spreads.

I humble ask all of these in the loving name of Jesus. Amen

COMPILATION
OF
WORKSHEETS

Domain 1. Content Knowledge and Pedagogy

The domain number 1 of PPST is Content knowledge and Pedagogy. This domain
recognizes the importance of teachers’ mastery of content knowledge. There are 7
strands in this domain. These are the content knowledge and its application within and
across curriculum areas, research – based knowledge and principles of teaching and
learning, positive use of ICT, strategies for promoting literacy and numeracy, Mother
Tongue Filipino and English to facilitate and learning and the last strand is Classroom
communication. Among these 7 strands, only 6 strands are applicable to the modular
modality.

The mind enhancer of the modules that I make is contained with the
demonstration of the content knowledge and its application within and/or across
curriculum teaching areas. This strand is very important in doing modules. It is very
needed to master the content knowledge so that we as a teacher can able to make
an activity that suit to our learners. Sometimes in my module I ask them to research
something that will help them to understand the research – based knowledge and it
can show to them the use of ICT in learning process,

Demonstrating the knowledge of teaching strategies that promote literacy and

numeracy skills is quit hard or difficult to apply in a module since I am just a beginner or
a student teacher. I am having a hard time to choose the strategy to make them
understand the topic. Sometimes there are student who come to school for tutors.
That’s the time that we can experience the face to face teaching. We use mother
tongue for those who can able to understand because here in our elementary school
not all the students can understand their mother tongue. We also have a hard time to
teach them in Filipino subjects, we need to translate it in English first before they can
understand very well.

Every time, I make the module I’ve realized how important to master your
content knowledge and pedagogy. Applying this entire domain can produce a high
quality learning outcomes. We can produce a good citizen and good leaders in our
country.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.

Domain 2. Learning Environment

Domain number two talks about the learning environment of the students.
Learning environment must be safe, secure, fair and supportive in order to promote
learner responsibility and achievement. This domain consists of six strands. These are
learner safety and security, fair learning environment, management of classroom
structure and activities, support for learner participation, promotion of purposive
learning, and management of learner behavior.

The modality that we use in Elementary school is modular. In this matter, the
student will only answer their modules at their house. While others if they are having a
hard time and their parents are busy, they are allowed to go to school for tutoring. So
far, the environment of the school is very safe, secure, and fair. There are also some
guidelines that they to follow and respect one another.

A beginner teacher, we need to apply this domain to our classroom for them to
have a good learning environment. Having this very environment can motivate them to
learn more and be productive student. Learning environment has a big impact to
learner learning achievement.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.
Domain 3 Diversity of Learners
Learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences, this stage of
domain emphasizes our central role as a teacher in establishing learners
learning environment. It demonstrate knowledge and understanding of
differentiated teaching to suit the learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests
and experiences. In short, this domain is teaches us to adjust with the learners
learning style and learners environment.

The gender is different from the sex and there are many different gender
identities, including male, female, transgender, gender neutral, non – binary,
agender, pangende, genderqueer, two – spirit, third gender, etc. There are
many more gender identities then we’ve listed but as a teacher we need to
understand their identities, needs, strengths, interests and experiences and
teach them the way they learn.

Today’s pandemic we are implementing the modular approach since we

are not allowed to have face to face classes. In this problem, we teachers are
having a hard time on making modules that suit to our learners. We need to
work closely to their parents.

As a teacher we must be adjustable to our students. They may have

different learning styles but we need to adjust them so that they will learn. If they
cannot learn the way we teach, teach them the way they learn. Let us consider
their gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences and let us teach them
holistically and spiritually discern.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.

Domain 4. Curriculum and Planning

Domain number four talks about the curriculum and planning. This domain
addresses teachers’ knowledge of interaction with national and local curriculum
requirements. Teacher must follow the curriculum and have a plan for the students. It
expects teachers to apply their professional knowledge to plan and design their lesson
plan. It expects also to have an excellence planning of the lesson plan that inline to the
DepEd curriculum.

In elementary school, since today’s world is experiencing pandemic. The Faith

Elementary school doesn’t have a face to face class. So, the school decided to have a
modular modality for the students to continue their studies. In make module, this
domain is very effective. We are writing a mind target which means the competences
that are found in curriculum development. We need also to have a good plan to divide
all the topics for the whole quarter. Planning for the doing module is not really easy.
Because sometime the competences that are found the MECL is so hard for them to
understanding specially they are doing their modules alone.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.

Domain 5. Assessment and Reporting

Domain 5 is the assessment and reporting. It refers to the strategies and

document reports of the teachers. It concerns with the assessment and programs
concerning to learners outcome. This domain has a 5 strand such as Strand 5.1 design,
selection, organization and utilization of assessment strategies, strand 5.2 monitoring
and evaluating of learner progress and achievement, strand 5.3 feedback to improve
learning, strand 5.4 communication of learner needs, progress and achievement to key
stakeholders, strand 5.5 use of assessment data to enhance teaching and learning
practices and programs.

The Elementary of Mountain View College used the modular learning modality
because of the pandemic. As a beginner teacher doing the modules, I am slightly hard
time to make it. The first thing I did to my summative test, I make my Table of
Specification (TOS) so that I have a guide lines to do the questionnaire, second I make
a format for me to be easy to write a question, and lastly I did review the competencies
contained in students modules.

I need to make summative test to my 3 subjects. I am having a hard time making

these 3 summative test since this the beginning of my journey being a teacher. The time
that I’ve already done my science summative test, I printed it and pass it to my
cooperating teacher. As he checks my questionnaire I am having this nervous in my
heart. Sir Pondara did a very excellent work to my exam to check it that I even almost
cry for it. When I got home I cried for it because I think that all my effort was vanished
but I take it as positive. I study my competencies and I did my exam.

I praise God for everything. He gave strength for me to do all the modules and
summative test. Being a teacher is not a joke. Handling different kind of student is hard.
Teaching, making modules and summative test is really difficult but we need to always
remember that God is always with you. Remember that this work is not for us, this God’s
work.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.

Domain 6. Community and Professional Engagement

Domain 6 is community and professional engagement. This domain talks about

the school community and learning environment. It concerns the importance teachers’
understanding and fulfilling their obligations in upholding professional ethics,
accountability and transparency to promote professional and harmonious relationships
with learners, parents, schools and wider community. This domain has 4 strands. These
are strand 6.1 establishments of learning environments that are responsive to
community contexts, strand 6.2 engagements of Parents and the wider school
communities in the educative process, strand 6.3 professional ethics, and strand 6.4
school policies and procedures.

This domain talks about the learning community of the learners and the
elementary of Mountain View College used modular learning modality so I don’t have
much experience to share but there are students who came here for tutor. We arrange
seats and table for the students who needs tutor. Since this domain also talks about the
relationship of the learners, parents, school, and wider community, I will our experience
in communicating the learner’s parents. There are some parents who don’t know how
to give recommendations. Instead of correcting for us to build relationships, they are
causing trouble. There are also parents to give their recommendations with respect.

We learn to have or to keep that we use to our modules so that if there is some
questions regarding the modules that we made we can show it to them so that the
harmonious relationships will remain in us.

I praise God for He is good to us. He is always there to help our relationship to be
strong amidst of every trial. The community that the students needs is a peaceful and
happy community.
Oniot, Neshil Fe N.

Domain 7. Personal Growth and Professional Development

Domain 7 is talks about the personal growth and professional development of

the teachers. It concerns the high personal regard for the profession by maintaining
qualities that uphold the dignity of the teachers. This domains contain with 5 strands
these are strand 7.1 philosophy of teaching, strand 7.2 dignity of teaching as a
profession, strand 7.3 professional links with colleagues, strand 7.4 professional reflection
and learning to improve practice, and strand 7.5 professional development goals.
Domain 7 recognizes the importance of teachers’ assuming responsibility for personal
growth and professional development for lifelong learning.

The elementary school of Mountain View College is using modular learning

modality because of the pandemic that world’s facing today. In this matter, we don’t
have a change in face to face teaching but in this domain, still we can able to
develop our personal growth through communicating the students and parents. The
philosophy of the teaching is still applied in making modules. We also learn to
cooperate with our colleagues and we are highly improving our professional reflection.

INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHTS
RESTROSPECTION

Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to

those who prepare for it today (Malcolm X). My parents don’t have
enough money to send us to school but God is wonderful and merciful.
He gave me strength to enroll and to become a working student for me
to finish my studies. Then, this semester I will be able to finish my tertiary
degree. I enrolled the practice teaching. I have doubt in my hearts and
mind if I can do it or not because I am just a working student who has
nothing to support me with my allowance. Before my practice teaching
I was working in the rubber department to support my needs and some
requirements but this semester I could not be able to work there
because as a student teacher, I need to focus on my work.

I submit everything to God until one day ma’am Vasquez

introduces us to the teachers of Mountain View College (Faith)
Elementary School. After she introduces us, she leave and the teachers
having a meeting and have decided to randomly select a student
teacher of their own.

I am assigned to sir Pondara’s class. He gave me 3 subjects such

as Music 3, Filipino 3, and Science 4. In our first week of making modules
we are having a hard time to do it until times come that it will be easy
for us to do the module. In the long run we learned a lot from our
cooperating teacher.

I thank my God for blessing me financially and spiritually. I thank

God that He gave us a loving supportive cooperating teacher. I thank
God for every detailed of my life specially in doing this Eportfolio.

Pagpapahalaga

pamagat, at subtitles.
pananaliksik, at iba pa.

with two beats per second.
The Basic Tempo Markings

Mind Gem:
A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord
with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Psalm 100:1 – 2

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Demonstrates the concept of texture by singing “two-part rounds (MU3TX-IVd-f-1)
 Describe round song.

Mind Enhancers
A round is a form of composition in which each singer or instrumentalist carries the
same melody, but begins and ends at different points. Rounds are sometimes
technically referred to as perpetual canons, referring to music with structured repetition
that can be repeated basically forever.
A round in music is a song which can be sung by two or more groups of people. One
group starts off and the next group starts to sing the same song a bit later. It should
sound nice together. When a group gets to the end of the song they start again. They
can go round and round, singing it several times.
Usually rounds are in 2, 3 or 4 parts (meaning that they are for 2, 3 or 4 groups of
people). When a group of people sing or play a round they usually sing it an agreed
number of times. This means that the group which starts last also finishes last.

Frère Jacques is a famous French round. London's Burning is an English round. Both
those rounds can be sung in 4 parts.

The oldest round that we know is Sumer is icumen in. This is a very famous piece of
music because it is the oldest piece of music we know that was written down. It was
written around 1250 by a monk. It can be sung in 4 parts with 2 bass drones (held
notes).

Writing music by making one part imitate another is called canonic writing. Rounds are
a kind of canon.
Mind Check

P. Write True or False on the blank provided.

1. A two – part round is sung at the same time.
2. We need to blend our voice when singing rounds.
3. First group sings several times followed by the second group.
4. The second group should sing louder than the first group.
5. We should master the melody before attempting to sing in rounds.

PERFORMANCE TASKS
• Demonstrates the concept of texture by singing “two-part rounds

Instructions:
List three examples of round songs.

Target Insight
 A round is a form of composition featuring multiple performances playing the same
melody but starting at different intervals.
 The proper training of voice is an important feature in education and should not be
neglected. Singing, as a part of religious service, is as much an act of worship is
prayer. The heart must feel the spirit of the song to give it right expression. – PP 564.

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Compare and contrast the characteristics of different types of soil (MELC p. 379).

Mind Enhancers
 Soil is a natural body on the surface of Earth that is made up of minerals, organic
matter, air and water.
 Chalk Soil can be either light or heavy but always highly alkaline due to the calcium
carbonate or lime within its structure.
 Organic Matter serves as a reservoir of nutrients and water in the soil, aids in
reducing compaction and surface crusting, and increases water access into the soil.
 The types of soil, layers of soil and its uses can be understood by studying page
276 – 277.

Mind Check

times what was sown.
Matthew 13:8

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Tell the importance of soil conservation.
 Provide simple solutions to soil pollution.

Mind Enhancers
 Soil is a resource found naturally on the Earth.
 Soil Conservation is a combination of practices used to protect the soil from
dreadful conditions. First and foremost, soil conservation involves treating the soil
as a living ecosystem. This means returning organic matter to the soil on a
continual basis.

Ways to Conserve Soil

 Crop Rotation is a tool that enables farmers to increase soil organic matter
content, soil structure and rooting depth. This is accomplished by growing
secondary crops which enhance soil health.
 Cover Cropping and Mulching is effective at reducing soil erosion by
leaving a cover over the soil which reduces soil displacement associated
with the impact of raindrops hitting soil particles. They also reduce the
volume and velocity of runoff over the soil.
 Mulching consists of applying organic material over the exposed soil.
 Conservation Tillage is field operations aimed at preserving soil
aggregates, organic matter and surface residue from previous crops.
 Cross – Slope Farming is the practice of conducting field operations
perpendicular to the field slope.
 Grassed waterways are shallow channels that allow large volumes of runoff
to flow down a slope without causing erosion.
 Buffer strips are vegetative areas that separate field boundaries from
watercourses. These buffer strips are effective at stabilizing stream banks
with their extensive root system.
 For more information about soil conservation, read and study pages 287 – 289 of
your book.
Mind Check

 Trace and describe the importance of the water cycle (MELC p. 379).

Mind Enhancers
Do you know why Earth is referred to as the “blue planet? This is because about 75
percent of Earth is covered with water, so the planet looks blue when viewed from outer
space.
 Water is found in the planet’s oceans, sees, lakes, springs, and other bodies of
water.
 Groundwater is water that is found beneath the surface of Earth, between the
layers of soil and rocks. It is stored in areas under the ground called aquifers.
Aquifers contain mostly gravel and permeable rocks, or rocks through which
liquids and gases seep and therefore can hold water for some time. Its topmost
part is known as the water table.
 All living organisms on Earth depend on water for survival. Plants need water to
produce their food and grow. Animals need water for drinking.
 At least 80 percent of the human body is made up of water. The human blood,
which is responsible for transporting nutrients and oxygen throughout the body, is
made up of some amount of water.
 Bodies of water serve as habitats for aquatic plants and animals.

Mind Gem:
They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them
from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.
Isaiah 48:21

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Determine what causes water pollution.
 Determine the effects of water pollution.

Mind Enhancers
 Water pollution is the descent of the quality of water. Toxic substances or an
organism changes the water’s composition which can damage living things and
their habitats. Pollutants that affect our oceans come from many different places.
One of the main causes of pollution is the water and other pollutants that flow into
storm drains.
 Storm water is the water that comes from rain and runs off into gutters called
storm drains. Urban runoff is water that comes from water used in human
activities such as cleaning the car to watering the garden. Storm water and urban
runoff are carried to streams, rivers and eventually to the ocean. This runoff can
contain many contaminants that affect clean water.

Contaminants can include:

 Dirt - is manageable in small quantities. However dirt from erosion, landslides
and from the street can destroy the quality of the water in the streams, rivers,
lakes and the ocean.
 Leaves and Grass clippings - can block out the sun and rotting material can
suffocate plants and animals in the water.
 Litter - such as cigarette butts, tin cans, plastic bags, bottles and paper etc.
are littered onto the streets or blown from rubbish bins can eventually end up
on the seashore and in the oceans.

Mind Gem:
Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will
become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
John 4:14

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Demonstrate the ways to conserve water.
 Create a poster that will show practical ways of using water wisely.

Mind Enhancers
Although water plays a vital role in the survival of all living things, unfortunately some
people seen to have forgotten that this resource should not been abused or used without
regard for its care and conservation.
Pollution of bodies of water does not result only in getting the water dirty and unfit for
use. It also leads to the reduction of the amount of oxygen that is in the water and which
aquatic animals and plants need to live.
Other individuals do not directly contribute toward water pollution but instead use water
in a wasteful manner. If more and more people take this attitude toward the use of water,
then it will not take long before this resource runs out or becomes very hard to obtain.
In your own way, you can help to conserve water by observing the guidelines of the
following:
 Brushing Teeth
 Toilet use
 Shower time
 Leaky and Dripping Faucets or pipes
 Watering plants
 Washing Cars
 Proper Waste Disposal
 Educate
For more information about the water conservation read and study pages 309 – 310 of

EE. Read the sentence. Put a check mark on the line before a sentence that
states a
way to conserve water and cross if does not.

11. Turn off the water from a faucet while your brush your teeth.
12. Reuse water as much as you can.
13. Water plants only in the afternoon.
14. Let the water from a faucet run on plates you are rinsing so the plates come
out cleaner.
15. When washing plates, do not use too much dishwashing liquid to save on
water for rinsing.
16. Do not be concerned about faucets that leak. Some faucets are made to leak
somehow.
17. It is alright to play with water spilling out from a hose.
18. Help clean areas of your house using water collected from rinsing laundry.
19. When washing your face, you can let the water from a faucet run
continuously even as you soap your face.
20. Water plants using water in a pail instead of from a hose.

Mind Gem:
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: for
the sky is red.
Matthew 16:2

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Identify the components of weather.

Mind Enhancers
Weather is the condition of the atmosphere over a short period of time. The atmosphere
is the layer of air that surrounds Earth.
Meteorology is the science that deals with the study of weather. It is a scientist that
studies the weather and gives forecast or projections on how the weather will be in the future.
Components of Weather
Air Temperature refers to the hotness or coldness of the atmosphere.
 The Meteorologist use an instrument called thermometer to measure air temperature.
Atmospheric Pressure is the force exerted by the weight of the atmosphere.
 Meteorologists use an instrument called barometer to measure atmospheric pressure.
 A mercury barometer is a glass tube about 91 cm long and filled with mercury.
 The aneroid barometer is and air – tight metal instrument that is very sensitive to changes
in atmospheric pressure.
Cloudiness
 A cloud is a mass that you see in the sky. It formed when the water vapor in the
atmosphere is cooled and condenses.
 Cirrus clouds appear white and featherlike. They indicate fair to pleasant weather.
 Cumulus clouds look like fluffy balls of cotton. They also indicate fair weather.
 Stratus clouds can be seen low in an area and seem to cover the entire sky. They are
gray in color and indicate a drizzle or light rain.
 Nimbus clouds appear thick and very dark in the sky.
 Scientists use an instrument called nephelometer to measure the extent of cloudiness in
the skies.
Humidity – refers to the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. It is measure using an
instrument called psychrometer.
Precipitation is any form of water that returns to the surface of Earth.
 Rain is precipitation in the form of liquid water. A drizzle is very light rain, in which the
raindrops are very small (measuring less than 0.5mm), numerous, and uniformly dispersed.
 Hail appears as irregular ball – like lumps of ice that are produced by cumulonimbus
clouds.
 Sleet consists of ice pellets that may be spherical or irregular in shape and measuring
about 5mm or less in diameter.
 Snow falls from the clouds as ice flakes.
 Precipitation gauge is the instrument that is used to measure the amount of precipitation
that falls in a place.
Wind
 The monsoon is a kind of seasonal with that brings cold temperature with it.
 Wind vane is a device that is use to tell the direction of the wind.
 Anemometer is an instrument used to measure the speed of wind.

Mind Gem:
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, it will be fair weather: for
the sky is red.
Matthew 16:2

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify safety precautions during different
weather conditions (MELC 379).

Mind Enhancers
Weather condition is the atmospheric conditions that comprise the state of
the atmosphere in terms of temperature, wind, clouds and precipitation.
Weather – Based Safety precautions
1. Develop the habit of listening to weather forecasts on the radio or watching them on
television news programs. In this way, depending on weather conditions you know
which activities or tasks are safe to do and which can be put off for another day.
2. Dress according to the weather. Do not wear thick and dark – colored clothing during
hot days as this can cause you to perspire heavily and be uncomfortable.
3. Always bring protective gear such as caps, raincoats, and umbrellas to keep you from
getting soaked during a sudden downpour.
4. Avoid staying out and under the heat of the sun from ten o’clock in the morning to
around four o’clock in the afternoon, as these are the hours of the day when the sun’s
heat is most harmful.
5. Do not play outdoors during heavy rains. Aside from getting very wet, you may slip on
the wet ground and other surfaces and hurt yourself. It is best to stay indoors during
bad weather.
6. It your are outdoors and you hear the sound of thunder, get indoors as soon as you
can. The sound of thunder follows lightning and being in the path of a lightning bolt can
be fatal. Thunder also heralds rain. If you are unable to get indoors, stay away from
anything tall such as tress and lampposts, crouch down on your knees, and cover your
head and ears with arms.
7. After several days of heavy rains, some streets may be flooded. If you are out on such
a day, avoid flooded areas. As much as possible, get to a safe place and stay out of
the rains till the water subsides.
8. Never try to walk on flooded streets especially without a trusted adult. You may not
only fall into open manholes or similar parts of the road, you also run the risk of
contracting leptospirosis, an infectious disease that is transmitted through the urine of
infected animals such as rats. Flood waters can carry the virus that causes the
infection.

Mind Check
HH. Modified true/false. Read each statement below. If it is correct, write true on the
line before the statement. If it is wrong, write false and underline the incorrect part of
the statement. Write the necessary correction above the incorrect part.

1. Thunder indicates rain.

2. It is safe to play outdoors during bad weather.
3. Do not wade through flooded streets.
4. Wearing light – colored clothes on warm days can make you feel cooler.
5. Listening to weather reports and forecasts is a waste of time.

Target Insight
 Weather is the condition of the atmosphere over a short period of time. Weather is

Mind Gem:
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath
ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 13:43

Mind Target
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
 Describe the changes in the position and length of shadows in the surroundings as
the position of the Sun changes (MELC 379).
 Describe the role of water cycle (4ESIVi-10).

Mind Enhancers
The sun is the central part of Earth’s solar system, or the system of heavenly
bodies that travel around the sun.

 The sun is what makes the water cycle work. The sun provides what almost
everything on Earth needs to go—energy, or heat.
 Heat causes liquid and frozen water to evaporate into water vapor gas,
which rises high in the sky to form clouds, clouds that move over the globe
and drop rain and snow.

 The position of the sun affects the size of a shadow. A person or object
blocks more light when the sun is low in the sky. More blocked light makes
shadows longer. Less light is blocked when the sun is high in the sky.
 For more information about the importance of the sun, read and study pages
341 – 342 in your book.

Oniot, Neshil Fe N.
Bachelor of elementary Education
Major in General
September 15, 2020

I was born in Tinonggos, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. Out of the 9 siblings, consisting of five boys and
four girls, I am the fifth child. We lived in a place that was very far away from civilization, specifically
the city and the secondary and tertiary schools. My father is a farmer and my mother is a full time
housewife. My family don’t have enough money to send us to school that is why all of my elder
siblings have only finished their elementary levels.

It was my first time to be there in the city during my fourth grade. My mother bought me a
sandal and I was very happy because that was my first one that I ever have. She said that I have to
take care of it because we do not have enough money to buy again so I did it. The best method to
keep it in its good condition is to carry it whenever I attend to school. In the long run, I finished my
elementary years. During that time, I and my family have experienced lots of circumstances. That is
why we have decided to migrate in Agusan Del Sur.

During the Brigada Eskwela 2011 in the month of May, my mother told me that I have to stop
studying due to some financial matters. Because of that great devastation, I hurriedly went to my
room and cried. With my knees kneeling and tears falling on the floor, I prayed earnestly to the Lord
that He will help me to continue my studies because I wanted to achieve my goals in life.

One morning, one of our neighbours went to our house for visitation. She suddenly asked my
mother about my studies and my mother explained the main reason. Surprisingly, she told my mother
that they need a working student that is why they asked my mother if it is okay for her that I would be
working for them. After hearing that news, I went to my room again. I thanked the Lord for the
answered prayer, with the tears of joy in the eyes. That is why I was able to enrol myself in high school
because my neighbour, at the same time, my sponsor, paid everything. However, they only paid my
first year. I have felt a bit of anxiety of my future expenses for my second year but the Lord is really
good. Our school announced that they were accepting working scholars so I applied myself in their
program and I was accepted. I have finished my second year in high school. Unfortunately, the
working scholarship of the school was only effective for one year. Again, I was anxious about the
finances for my studies. I prayed to the Lord again that He will help and guide me on what I need to
do in order to achieve my goals. And then, the Lord intervened. My math teacher asked me if I am
willing to be her working student. With the great happiness in my heart, I informed my mother that I
could finish my studies.

With my mother’s permission, I started working in my teacher’s house. She supported my third
year tuition fees. During my last year in high school, my mother decided to send me to my cousin in
Zamboanga Del Sur. I have continued my studies there for my fourth year with a very well-financed
life. As the time passed by, I finished my high school level. I thought I could also finish my college
there in my cousin’s place but due to some problems, I went home.
Year 2014, I asked my mother that I want to go to Mountain View College to apply working
student so that I could finish college. But then, my mother disagreed. Again, I cried to the Lord and
asked for His help. I am not saying that the Lord did not answer my prayer but I believed that the
Lord’s answer to my prayer is to wait for the right time. After a month, I went to the city to find a job. I
applied in a grocery store and I was accepted. While working in that place, I always put in my mind
that I need to finish my studies. But then after three months, I gave up with my goal or ambition in my
life. I started entertaining suitors and entering in some romantic relationships. I felt the hopelessness in
my heart that I cannot finish my studies. After months, I stopped working in the grocery store and
went home.

In our home, I helped my father in his work. My father’s work at that time was charcoal
production. I helped him in sacking and carrying the charcoal down to the highways. One Sunday
morning, my father commanded me to watch over the charcoal. The charcoal buyer came and
asked me, “who is the owner of the charcoal” and I replied, “it is my father, ma’am.” She was
surprised and asked for clarification if Donio, my father, has a daughter. She asked me about my
education status. Then I told her that I stopped because we do not have enough money for it. The
charcoal buyer asked me directly if I am willing to study then I answered yes. They offered me to be a
working student and I accepted it. After week, I went to their house to work for the upcoming
enrolment. They enrolled me in the University of Caraga (CSU) as a BSED Mathematics student.

Studying in a high standard university is not easy. I need to work for my tuition and also I need
a lot of time to study because I have grades to maintain. While I am studying in CSU, I received a lot
of blessings. One day, I went to the internet cafe and when I check my account, I am surprised
because my financial balance was already paid with a message saying “please to go cashier
number four for your scholarship”. I cannot explain my feelings at that time. I went to the cashier and
they refunded me. I was really happy because I did not expect it to happen. After a year of studying
the charcoal buyer said to me that they will move to their farm and they could never support my
studies anymore. They promised to me that they will find another house that will accept workers in
order for me to continue my study.

It is summer time when a group of student canvassers from Mountain View College came into
our place. My uncle asked me if I am willing to join them so with a willing heart, I participated in their
group. After the canvassing work, I decided to go and continued my journey in MVC. I asked my
canvassing leader to help me in my application as a working student. My leader, as well as my
friends in canvassing helped me about my concerns. To make the long story short, I was accepted in
MVC school canteen as a student cashier. I was a full time working student at that time with only
three units of load. After one semester, I applied to the other department. The Math and Physics
department accepted me because of my course (BSEd MATH). While working there I ask my
supervisor for permission that I will enroll master guide class and he agreed. Suddenly, the BSEd Math
Course was dissolved due to some changes in curriculum. I was very sad because I want be a
mathematician. I went to my room and I asked for help to God. I cannot decide what course I am
going to enroll. And one day, I have decided to enroll AB English, temporarily. After one semester of
studying this language course, I shifted to BS Applied Math. But slowly, I realized that my plan to be a
mathematician is not the Lord’s will because the BS Applied Math was dissolved again. I was alone in
my room and cried and prayed to the Lord for my choice of my new course. After a day of thinking, I
tried to enroll in the Education Department in elementary major. I prayed to the Lord that, if it is His
will, He will help me to love this course.
After one semester as a BEED student, I learned many things. I found out that I love to teach
children. I believed that this course is the one that God wanted me to finish. Year 2018, I’m invested
as a Master Guide. Since I wholeheartedly accepted BEED, I continued the master guide advance
classes because I knew would help me to my future career. In 2019, I finished four advance classes in
pathfinder such as; Friend, companion, explorer, and ranger. I enjoyed a lot in my training. So, I have
decided to continue my training. 2020, I am investing as advance voyager and guide. This year 2021
with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ I will be invested as Pathfinder Leadership Award.

Despite of the trials and struggles in my life while studying here in MVC, still the Lord did not fail
to help me. His rescue is always perfect. I am proud to say that I am now a graduating student
without owning a large amount of money. I believed that poverty is not the hindrance in achieving
our goals. All we need is to be faithful, industrious and be a hearer of God’s will.
