About College:
The Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) is as the name suggests, located in Bengaluru. It is a standalone engineering
institute affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belgaum, within the same state of Karnataka. It has a 5- acre
campus in Bengaluru itself. The institute was also the first to introduce a full-fledged Computer Science and Engineering
degree in the state of Karnataka, which is now famous for its thriving IT industry. It was started in 1979, the same year as the
institute itself. Admissions to the undergrad as well as post-grad programmes are via the PUC exam conducted by the
Government of Karnataka. The present fee is about a lakh plus for a year.
At the undergrad level, there are 9 areas in which to pursue one’s B. Tech. These are in – Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering,
Computer Science & Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management, Information Science & Engineering and Electronics &
Instrumentation Engineering. At the master’s level, M. Tech programmes may be opted out of – Machine Design, VLSI &

The BIT is also extremely proactive when it comes to fetching consulting assignments. It has also tied up with other
educational bodies for knowledge exchange purposes. The NAL (National Aeronautics Laboratories) and the IISc. (Indian
Institute of Science) are two such examples of collaborators. BIT’s library is extremely well- endowed with more than ninety-
thousand volumes of books and periodicals. The library is also aligned with international networks, which allows the students
to access cutting-edge academic research from around the world. BIT also acts as a programme centre for the IGNOU. There is
a full-fledged unit known as Industrial Consultancy and Research Centre. It deals with applied research and consulting for
corporate players. Careers360 magazine has given BIT an AAA+ rating for the engineering programmes and an AA+ for the

The students at BIT have become also developed such a proactive streak in conducting several prestigious events. The EDC:
BIT (Entrepreneurship Development Cell) for example curates events to help budding entrepreneurs from the institute. Those
keen on design have also formed the Team Stratos to participate in events such as SAE BAJA India or SAE BAJA Korea. To
encourage women in technology, the Infiniti cell was formed. Manthan meanwhile is BIT’s annual techno-cultural fest. Beyond
serious matters, fun and games is also much encouraged at the BIT campus. That is why clubs have been formed to hone
these special interests. Examples of these include Midas, Aikya, Elevate, CFQ and Ecsa for the purpose of dance, cultural affairs,
literary affairs, quizzing and robotics. Sanskrithi is there for the promotion of the Kannada language. There is even a local TEDx
chapter.

Careers360 Ranking / Rating
Institutions that are promoted by the central/state or provincial Government or Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges
across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data
requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their
scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is
completely different.
