Week in A Variety of Settings In-And Out-Of School With Mvpas To Monitor And/Or Adjust Participation or Effort During Mvpa Participation

This document provides a health and physical education curriculum for 4th quarter at Victoria National High School. It outlines the most essential learning competencies, which include engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity for at least 60 minutes per day, analyzing physiological indicators like heart rate to monitor exertion, and observing safety protocols. The document describes two activities - the first involves calculating target heart rate ranges, and the second is a ball-hitting exercise performed with family to elevate heart rate that students should document with a video or drawing.

4TH QUARTER
Name: _______________________ Date: ______________
Year Section: _________________
MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES
 Engages in moderate to vigorous physical activities (MVPAs) for at least 60 minutes most days of the
week in a variety of settings in- and out-of school
 Analyzes physiological indicators such as heart rate, rate of perceived exertion and pacing associated
with MVPAs to monitor and/or adjust participation or effort
 Observes personal safety protocol to avoid dehydration, overexertion, hypo- and hyperthermia
during MVPA participation
 Participates in an organized event that addresses health/fitness issues and concerns
ACTIVITY 1
1. Get the Maximum Heart Rate
MHR = 220 - _________ (your age) MHR = ___________________
2. Determine the HEART RATE RESEVE
HRR – MHR = _______________ (Resting Heart Rate) HRR = _______________________
3. Take 60% and 80% of the HRR
a. 60% x HRR - ______________ b. 80% x HRR - _____________________
4. Add each HRR to Resting Heart Rate to obtain the Target Heart Rate (THR) rage.
a. 60% HRR _____________ + ___________ - ___________ beats per minutes (RHR)
b. 80% HRR _____________ + ___________ - ___________ beats per minutes (HRR)
NOTE: Your resting pulse rate is the number of time your Heart beats per minute after you are at
rest.
ACTIVITY 2
MATERIALS TO BE USED:
 Mobile phone
 Timer
 Any ball that can be used in this activity
 Pen or pencil
DIRECTION:
I. Count your RESTING PULSE RATE within 60 seconds and write it down on the table above
II. Form a circle together with your family member/s.
III. Hit the ball 30 times make sure to hit the ball without falling or touching the ground ( if the ball
falls down or hit the ground repeat the process)

V. Again, count your heart rate within 60 seconds to complete the table above and then complete
the results.
VI. Take a video documentation of your activity using your mobile phone
(IF YOU CAN’T TAKE A VIDEO YOU CAN MAKE A DOCUMENTATION OR DRAWING THE
ACTIVITY/NARRATE HOW WAS THE ACTIVITY BEGIN, DURING AND AFTER THE ACTIVITY).
