MATHEMATICIAN/SCIENTIST LOOKALIKE (January 28, 2019)
1. Each year level should have two representatives for Mathematician/Scientist Lookalike.
   2. Each representative will be assigned with mathematician/scientist to be impersonated
      through drawn by lot process.
   3. During the contest, the participant shall bring with him/her a picture of the
      Mathematician/Scientist he/she is impersonating posted on a 1/8 size cardboard.
   4. The participant shall prepare a 1 to 2-minute introduction regarding the life, works, and
      contributions of the Mathematician/Scientist he/she impersonating.
   5. There will be an interview of every participant about the important contribution of his/her
      impersonated Mathematician/Scientist.
   6. The following are the criteria for judging:
              Resemblance to the face (costume and make up) – 25%
              Showmanship (stage presence and overall impact) – 25%
              Introduction About the Mathematician/Scientist – 25%
              (mastery, confident, rapport)
              Interview                                      – 25%

CANVASS PAINTING (January 28-31, 2019)
   1. Each year level should have 8-10 representatives.
   2. The concept of painting should align to the theme of the competition: “Gearing Towards
      Excellence and Technological Advancement Through Math and Science”
   3. The painting will be displayed at every corridor of each year level.
   4. The following materials will be used in the contest: (provided by the contestants)
         a. 40” x 60” in measure
         b. mix-medium paint
   5. The contest will start on January 28, 2019 and will end on January 31, 2019.
   6. Any violation of the following guidelines will be deduction of points.
   7. The following are the criteria for judging:
              Thematic Relevance                      30%
              Design and Creative Elements                  35%
              Visual Impact                           35%
   8. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND ICT Quiz Bowl (January 29-30, 2019)
   1. The contest is open to all year levels.
   2. Each section must have 2 sets of contestants (the top and bottom of the class)
   3. Each team must have 3 members (1 for mathematics, 1 for science and another for ICT)
   4. The contestants must be at the venue five minutes before the time. (Refer to the
      program)
   5. The following materials will be used in the contest: (provided by the contestants)
         i. 1 ft. x .5 ft cardboard (white background & vertical format)
        ii. Whiteboard marker
       iii. Rugs
       iv. 2 clean long bond paper for the scratch
   6. The contest is divided into four parts, namely: Easy Round, Average Round, Difficult
      Round and Clincher Round. The table below shows the equivalent point/s for each
      question, the number of questions and the time limit in each respective category.

7. The Quiz covers from First Grading to the First to Third Grading lessons in Math,
    Science and ICT.
8. The questions will be given in multiple -choice form, identification or problem solving
9. Questions will be read by the Quizmaster. Each team will answer each question with the
    allotted time given which will start then when the Quizmaster says “go”.
10. After the time allotted for each question expires, the contestants will be asked to stop
    writing and to raise their answers facing the Panel of Judges. The quizmaster shall then
    publicly announce the answer and the Panel of Judges will announce the contestants
    who got the correct answer.
11. Complaints should be aired by the contestant only before the next question is read. The
    decision of the Panel of Judges is final and irrevocable.
12. Wrong spelling and illegible answers are considered wrong. Final answers must be
    written legibly.
13. At the end of each round, scores will be added together with the scores of the previous
    round.
14. At the end of the Difficult Round, scores from the previous two rounds will be added to
    the scores of the said Round. The contestant with the highest score will be declared
    champion and the winner. The second and the third highest score earners will be
    declared 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up, respectively.
15. If there is a tie, clincher questions will be given. The first contestant who will gain point
    over the other shall be considered as the winner in the tie-breaker.
16. Any violation of the aforementioned rules and regulations will result to the forfeiture of
    titles, prizes and privileges awarded to the contestant concerned.
PHOTO ESSAY (January 30, 2019)
1. This contest is compulsory to all Grade 9 students.
2. Each student will capture a picture that shows the role of science in environment care and
  protection. The picture can be edited using photoshop.
3. The picture will be printed in 8”x11” photo paper and it will be passed to the science
  teacher on January 30, 2019.
4. There will be elimination of outputs in each section. The science teacher will be
  responsible in choosing the best outputs of each section.
5. The best 3 outputs of each section will compete for the final round.
6. The winners will be determined using the following criteria:
    a. Content              -       40%
    b. Originality          -       30%
    c. Creativity           -       20%
    d. Overall Impact       -       10%
7. The winners (first, second and third) will receive a prize and corresponding additional
  points in their science subject.
    First                   – 60 pts.
    Second                  – 50 pts.
    Third                   - 40 pts.
    Non-winners             – 30 pts.
MATH SAYAW (February 1, 2019)
   1. Each year level should have 20-25 members.
   2. Performance time is 3 minutes only.
   3. Dance routine may consist of various styles and lifting (limited to ONE LEVEL ONLY)
   4. Participants should perform series of dance steps resembling mathematical symbols and
      formations which are given life through body movements utilizing their arms, legs,
      hands, and head. Any type of music will do (medley, remix etc.) but no to KPOP music.
   5. The costume must be the colorcoded shirt and pants. They can customize their
      costumes.
   6. The following are the criteria for judging
      a. Mathematical Appeal – 40%
      b. Choreography – 25%
      c. Synchronization – 25%
      d. Costume and Overall impact – 10%

   7. The judge’s decision is final and irrevocable.
JINGLE (February 1, 2019)
   1. Each year level must compose a jingle related to the theme of the celebration.
   2. The same representatives of Math Sayaw or other group of students (20-25 members)
      will perform the Jingle.
   3. Lyrics should not contain vulgar or rude words.
   4. The jingle must not exceed 2 minutes.
   5. The copy of the jingle should be submitted beforehand with the names of the
      representatives.
   6. Violation for this guideline will result to disqualification.
   7. The jingle will be judged according to the following criteria:
      Lyrics – 20%
      Originality – 20%
      Music – 20%
      Interpretation – 20%
      Creativity – 20%
                     100%
   8. The judge’s decision is final and irrevocable.
SCIENCE INVENTION (February 1, 2019)
   1.   The contest is open to all students in Grade 10.
   2.   Each section should have at least one entry. It might be individual, by pair or by triad.
   3.   The invention should have the application of electromagnetism.
   4.   Each contestant should prepare a display board using ½ size illustration board with the
        following contents:
        a. Invention Name
        b. Name of Inventor
        c. Rationale of the Invention
        d. Uses / Best Features of the Invention
        e. Materials
        f. Procedures
   5.   Each contestant should bring their product and display board during the judging day on
        February 1, 2019.
   6.   The product and display board will be submitted to the subject teacher right after the flag
        ceremony for the exhibit.
   7.   During the exhibit period, the inventors should prepare a chip (a size of 1-peso coin) and
        it will be given to students who will visit the exhibit. Each chip is equivalent to 3 points)
   8.   The winners will be determined using the following criteria:
        a. Scientific Concept                            - 25%
        b. Economic Value (usefulness)                   - 25%
       c. Creativity and Workmanship                  - 25%
       d. Presentation                                - 25%
   9. The winners (first, second and third) will receive a prize and corresponding additional
       points in their science subject.
       First                   – 60 pts.
       Second                  – 50 pts
       Third                   - 40 pts
       Non-winners             – 30 pts.
   10. Any entry that violates the guidelines will not be judged.
SHOW AND TELL (Bilib Ka Ba version) (February 1, 2019)
1. This contest is open to all Grade 8 students.
2. Each section should have 2 teams. Each team should have 3 members.
3. Each team should prepare 1 science amazing experiment. This will serve as a class project in
 science.
4. Each team should perform and explain the experiment before the judges and student visitors.
5. The students of each section should help in the expenses of the materials. Enough materials
   should be prepared to accommodate the students who will visit.
6. Each team should prepare a chip (a size of 1-peso coin) and it will be given to students who
   will visit the exhibit. Each chip is equivalent to 3 points.
7. The winners will be judged according to the following:
   a. Performance or Showmanship -              40%
   b. Science Concept                    -      25%
   b. Mastery and Explanation            -      25%
   c. Overall Impact                     -      10%
8. The winners (first, second and third) will receive a prize and corresponding additional points
   in their science subject (the judging will be by team not by section)
         First                   – 60 pts.
         Second                  – 50 pts.
         Third                   - 40 pts.
         Non-winners             – 30 pts.
TRASH TO CASH (February 1, 2019)
1. This activity is open to all grade 7 students.
2. This is to be done by pair and each pair should make 2 to 4 products made of recyclable
  materials which will serve as their project in science.
3. The products should be submitted to the Science teacher on February 1, 2019 at exactly 8:00
   AM for display and auction.
4. The students should be the one to sell their products to the interested students or personnel.
5. The proceeds will be taken by the students personally or they will give any amount as
   donation for the church’s panel.
6. The pair with highest sale will be given an additional point in their science subject.
        First - 60 pts
        Second – 50 pts
        Third - 30 pts.
FILM SHOWING (February 1, 2019)
