ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

Title: Science & Math Month Celebration

Theme: Infinity & Beyond: Exploring the Boundaries of Science & Math
Scope: SHS – DCPNHS Teachers and Students
Venue: SHS – DCPNHS Cabawan Campus
Date: September 2 – 30, 2024
Rationale: Learning is an active process. Students are not able to learn much by
only sitting in classes, listening to teachers, memorizing pre-packaged
assignments and churning out answers. A need for active intellectual
engagement and emulating disciplinary practices and thinking, and to
imbibe 21st-century skills that focuses on developing broadly applicable
capacities, habits of mind, and preparing knowledge workers for a
new economy must be nurtured to every individual.
The vital role of Science and Technology and Mathematics in building the
nation has been proven many decades since it flourishes. Teachers
being equipped with quality education, were encouraged and trained to
teach and nurture learners in the intricacies of technology and
communication, creativeness, and invention. It is hoped that learners will
become inventors and skilled human resources in the future.
Science and Math monthlong celebration is one of the many
venues for learners to enhance their talents and skills, a way for allowing
learners to be involved in active learning.
Objectives: The general objective of this activity is to promote academic excellence in
Science and Mathematics and create camaraderie and sportsmanship
among students.
The specific objectives are as follows:
1. understand the importance of science, technology, environment
and mathematics as vital areas in the nation building especially in
the age of information and communications technology in the
21st century;
2. provide a venue for interaction of science and math clubs and
recognize excellence through workshops and friendly
competitions.
3. complement, supplement and enrich formal science and math
education through curricular activities to popularize science,
technology, environment and mathematics among the masses
through various activities.
