2.0 Introduction
2.1 Event Background
As a part of FSG301 courses, we as a group of students held an event under
SULAM program named Safety and Health Awareness Program. My group was given
a task to organise an event under title ‘Managing Workplace Stress and Depress’.
Through this program it have allowed me to gain valuable skills that have prepared
me to be an effective worker when I enter working life in future. In reflection on my
experience in the SULAM program, I have gained clarity on what sorts of safety and
health social workers need, as well as in what ways social workers need to feel most
stress-free during their working hours. This event took place through online live via
Youtube Live through ‘WEBINAR UiTM PERLIS’ channel on Saturday 5th December
2020 for a period of 2 hours. I felt that this event is meaningful and helpful towards
society who are in working field as it had became a moment of truth to them where
they would expose to a knowledge to overcome their workspace problems.
2.2 Event Audiences
The targeted audiences are among working community especially those who in
need of knowledge towards a better and fun workspace environment. In this
challenging world, workers always find themselves stuck with stress. They might end
up feeling dull and most likely to give up with their job. Therefore, the objectives of the
event are to create awareness of workers to the healthy working lifestyle. Moreover,
this event is also to allow workers to identify their problem in working area and helps
them to solve their problem for a better community.

3.0 Preparation
3.1 Pre-Event Preparation
MARA University of Technology Malaysia (UiTM) enriches a student’s skills by
asking them to conduct an event under FSG301 courses. UiTM had conducted many
events but this is the very first time UiTM with the help of SULAM hosting a Safety and
Health Awareness Program through online platform. This program is based on talk
event. The talk event entitled ‘Managing Workspace Stress and Depress’ was
organized by a group of UiTM students, from group RAS1205C and RAS1205G. It is
the first time for UiTM students team to organize such an event through online
platform because of the pandemic that we are having today.
Anas Ashrawi and Aliff Muzzafar, the Organizing Chairperson worked together
with the committee students who are from classes AS1205C and AS1205G to make
this event successful. In order to get things on track we were assigned to our
particular position as such Secretary, Treasurer, Protocol, Secreteriat, Technical,
Communication and Technical. I was responsible as a leader to Communication and
Publicity committee. The most important factor in achieving a successful event is to
have a strong and compatible team. Effective teamwork can offer greater productivity
and creativity more than what one individual can provide. Therefore, the whole
organization for this event worked cooperatively and efficient throughout the whole
event process, which in turn had a positive impact on the development of the event up
until the day of the event.
As for my committe which is Communication and Publicity team, we started on 9th
November 2020 on week 5, which when I am in charged to create a whatsapp group
among my team therefore all the information can be given directly to all my team
members. Effective communication was a significant aspect throughout the course of
the whole process. It was discussed with the group at the beginning, that in order to
develop a successful event, we had to ensure to utilise our communication skills.
Nevertheless, communication within the group were at times ineffective. We mainly
used social media outlets to communicate everything event related. This in turn
caused issues in understanding what tasks had been completed and what needed to
be done.Therefore, throughout the organisation process, each member of the team
was given a set of objectives to be met each week. This was to ensure all tasks would
be completed. At this time also, the process of brainstorming ideas to design the best

poster to attract interest among the targeted community takes place. All of the team
members work together by giving an appealing ideas. We all come out with ideas as
our communication going well throughout this process. Me myself started to sketch
the poster design while, my team members started to think of the title for the poster to
make it interesting for the reader. I am not a designer nor editor, therefore it was a
new challenges for me to try and explore something new. This helps me to be creative
and eventually helps me to prepare myself with job qualification that needs a worker
candidates to have a basic knowledge on editing.
For week 6, we have finished our poster. I presented the official poster to
Program Director to get approval from lecturers in charged. Some certain error
needed to be edited. My team members, started to plan the structure for
announcement that needed to be promoted once the edited official poster is approved.
The announcement needed to be pack with information but in a simple way in order to
get the audience to attract with the content. The biggest challenge that we faced is
attracting audiences. We wants to set a goal to gain a large amount of participants,
but without a strategy, it’s almost impossible to hit our goal.
Prior to the event, the team and I were heavily reliant on number of participants
on the day of the event, which in turn is a significant risk factor. For instance, the
internet and whatsapp group were found to be the most effective media in marketing
this event since it involve use of images which are the most accurate marketing
strategies. Particularly, the poster was developed to enhance pleasant impression to
the target customers before the actual event. Other social networks like the Facebook
and the Instagram were of great reliability due to their popularity among the people in
marketing the event. In order to attract and retain the customers, e-certificate were
offered to individuals who participate the event. Thankfully, our footfall on the day was
better than expected and we achieved the number of participants that have been set.
It would be recommended to find alternative and unique methods of increasing the
participants which among the community who is working prior to the event. This would
ensure that no risk would be taken that could have had a serious impact on the event.
Communication proved to be a key fault throughout the development process,
mainly because we were heavily reliant on technology to interact. Furthermore, it
would have been beneficial to have more meetings each week, communicating all
responsibilities and tasks each individual has completed and assigning more jobs for
each person to have done in a specific time frame and communicating when this had
been achieved. Effective communication can lead to higher productivity, where it is
more likely that goals will be achieved.

4.0 Knowledge Transfer
One of the event highlights is that the event is attended by Akif Basri who is the
speaker for the event. He is a clinical psychologist working in Azlina Psychology Clinic,
Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Kajang. He has more than 3 years of working experience in
the clinical setting. He conducts assessments, diagnosis, and psychotherapy for
children and adults with psychological issues and mental disorders. Therefore, with
the great knowledge he able to share with the community as he have that particular
specialist based on our program topic. He teaches Abnormal Psychology,
Experimental Psychology, Health Psychology and Physiology as he is a part-time
Psychology Lecturer at the National University of Malaysia. Other than that, during the
Q&A session, the audiences give a quick responds. It is a good sign that everyone is
listening tentatively towards the speaker’s talk. This shows that the community gains
something from this program which beneficial to them. Ultimately, the event’s energy
is generated because every person is there to fill their weekend happily.
Managing workplace stress and depress is about a discussion regarding a
strategy to prevent depression in the workplace which include developing individual
strength, screening high-risk individuals and reducing that risk, improving awareness
among companies. Workers are usually prone to professional burnout, anxiety
disorders and depression, owing to the nature of personality traits common among
those who decide to pursue careers in their particular job. Fortunately, treatment
modalities and prevention strategies can help workers to conquer and avoid these
disorders. Workplaces are also increasingly working towards creating a culture where
employees are given the opportunity to learn more about mental health and mental
illness. Besides, the speaker talked about the benefits of healthy eating. People
become stressed and often look to food for comfort, so it's important that they are
filling their body with a healthy alternative. Perhaps instead of indulging in chips you
can satisfy your needs with a healthy alternative. Healthy eating doesn't just improve
how you look, but also improves how you feel.

During the event period participants often notified by our publicity team to join our
Youtube Live so they would not missed out our event. Throughout the event has been
a support from audiences where the comment section is crowded with the visitors.
Besides, the warm and incredible welcome from our host adds spice to this event and
helps the visitors to be more enthusiastic throughout the event. My unforgettable
memories during this event are the excellent flow of the program that have been
sucessfully organized by the technical commitee, the superb art work displayed,
lovely and enjoyable opening of the event, a spiritual talk by our speaker and the
visitors.
There are certain weaknesses that need to be improved for this event. One of
them is that the platform used for the event are considered not suitable especially for
the working age people. Besides, when using Youtube platform, the speaker cannot
really interact with the community as they can only communicate through comment
section which are not really connect with audience. Next, there are some technical
error that occur by the host which there were a connection problem with audio, but
with the energetic behaviour that the host shows does cover up the issues.
This community helped me to understand that the stress and depress among
workers were real. It broadened my horizons and gave me an exclusive insight to the
challenges that employee face in the world at large. The issues related to mental
health which I used to intentionally or unintentionally ignore in the past will be
eradicated and I will tend to be more sensitive while handling the people who are in
the state of stress and depress.

5.0 Conclusion
Overall, I am very pleased to be given this oppurtunity to organize an event with
my teammates. All thanks to UiTM alongside SULAM program for giving us this
assignment to final year students of Diploma in Science. There are number of factors
that need to be considered along the way. However, this experienced was immersely
valuable considering we might step up into job life after graduating as it given me
better understanding about the procedure and the real life drill of an event. It also
helps me to realize how to work in team and synergize all the tasks with others that
are needed to execute this event to be successful. This event really made one gain a
lot of experience and knowledge especially the ultimate ways for a better working
experience. I think it is not easy to host such event although it is just a community
event. Therefore I think this reflective report is important to students because it
teaches us to learn more about an event and reflect on what we have been through
along this hosting event journey.
The event outcome was quite expected and a total viewer reached until 900
viewers when the program is underway. The community seem to be happy as they
kept giving us feedback through ‘comment’ section in Youtube Live. Thus, The first
Safety and Health Awareness Program:Managing Workspace Stress and Depress
hosted by UiTM students and SULAM project was indeed one of the successful
events that we have hosted. The crowds of the students who thronged the event
prove that it was successful as well.
