SANDE, EVA D.
REFLECTION-TASK 2
1. What did you find the most useful if any, in the topics discussed? Why?
One of the topics that were discussed in which I was able to find very useful is
the “STAGES OF TEST CONSTRUCTION”. Most of the time this is what I’ve noticed in
some of the test papers. At times, some exams are very complicated even if it is very
easy to answer. Complicated in a way that most of the teachers are making the
instructions hard for the students. It’s like you are setting “traps” and making it very
difficult for the learners. Sometimes the teachers given “instructions” in the test papers
is very annoying. Instead of helping the students to clear their minds in answering every
question, it became more complicated just because of the “instructions or directions”
Instead of “Make Your Instructions Specific”. If you have questions that need several
steps to answer, the best way to do this is to split the sections up into digestible pieces
for the students, especially in the younger grades.
2. Can you think of any way you can improve your ways of constructing test items?
In my experience, I never gave complicated instructions to my students. I’ve
learned a lot from so many teachers that I’ve been with. I remember one of my dear
professors when I was in college, he said: “ when you are writing news do not make the
words hard and complicated, it should be easy, clear, and understandable”, it will make
your reader get bored and tend to look for a dictionary and find the meaning of the
word. Another thing, every teacher should provide instructions within the Test
Questions. I have seen modules and I found out that, I can’t find the answers within the
modules even if it is very objective.
