BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
NARRATOR: Once upon a time there lived a wealthy merchant and
his four daughters. One day, the father was about to go to a far-off
place and he asked his daughters what they wanted on his return.
FATHER- I am off then. What should I bring for my lovely
daughters?
1st daughter- I want a pink dress!
2nd daughter- yes! Yes but I shall have a lovely yellow dress!
3rd daughter- but father, I want a beautiful pearl necklace..
BEAUTY: “Father, I only need a rose plucked by your hand.”
NARRATOR: The merchant, on his way back, had to cross through
the deep forest. He was tired when he came across a huge castle in the
middle of nowhere.
Father- hello! Is there anyone inside? Well I am coming in the door is
open. Anyone? Hello??
strange there is no one and yet the table is setup with delicious food, I
think I shall eat and sleep in the night and thank the owner in the
morning.
Candle stick and clock;
Candle s-he looks like a good man.
clock- but he doesn’t solve our problems .Our curse can only be lifted
if a beautiful woman falls in love with our master.
Candle s- yes! Yes! Atleast we should company for the night.
Clock- look at the time it’s almost dawn now.
FATHER- good morning , is there anyone? I think I missed the
owners again, I should be on my way home now.
Narrator- as the father got ready to leave the castle he saw a beautiful
rose bush growing in the lawn and remembered beauty’s gift.
Father- what a beautiful rose for my beautiful daughter! I shall pick it
up for her.
THE BEAST ENTERS-
BEAST: “I gave you food and a bed to sleep in! And now, you are
stealing my roses!”
Father- I am sorry! I am taking this for my lovely daughter.
Beast- But! You are stealing them! You should be locked in ..let your
daughter come and search for you!
Narrator- when the horse carriage came home without father, the
daughters panicked. Beauty took the resolve to make a move towards
the forest and find out her father, that bed her into the castle.
Beauty- I have came here for my father, FATHER! FATHER!
CS- she might be the one. (whispers)
CLOCK- You might scare her! (whispers)
CS- Have you seen the prince?
Clock- NO!
CS- he now not only looks like a beast but behaves like one.
CLOCK- SHH! SHH! She found her father.
Beauty- oh Father!
Father- ran away! Why are you here?
Beauty- not without you father!
Beast- then who’ll pay for my rose?
Beauty- Keep me! Please let my father go.
Father- NO! NEVER!
BEAUTY- alright but please let me hug my father for the last time.
Narrator- Beauty tricks her Father, she pulls him out of the bar and
shut herself inside. Beauty loved her father a lot and agreed to go
stay with the Beast. The merchant agreed and ran back home. He
cried and told his daughters about the Beast.
Narrator- The Beast treated Beauty with a lot of kindness. He was
never rude to her. He let her stay in the biggest room and let her roam
in the beautiful garden. Beauty would sit near the fireplace and sew
while the Beast kept her company. At first, Beauty was afraid of the
Beast but slowly, she began to like him. One day, the Beast asked
Beauty to marry him, but she refused. She was still afraid of his
fearful-looking face. The Beast still treated her kindly and with a lot
of love. One day beauty was missing her father so much and she said-
Beauty: “I MISS YOU FATHER.”
Then the Beast gave her a magic mirror and said,
“Look at the mirror and you can see your family. Now you won’t feel
lonely anymore.’’
Narrator- One day, Beauty looked in the mirror and saw that father
was very ill and dying. She went to the Beast and pleaded and cried,
Beauty- “Please let me go home! I only want to see my father before
he dies!” narrator- But the Beast roared,
Beast -“No! You promised you would never leave this castle!”
Narrator- Saying this, he stormed out of the room. But after some
time, he came to Beauty and said,
Beast- “You may go to stay with your father for seven days. But you
must promise to return after that.”
Narrator- Beauty was very happy and agreed. Then she left and went
to stay with her father. Her father, on seeing Beauty, felt very happy
and soon recovered. Beauty stayed with her family for seven days and
more. She forgot the Beast and his castle. But one night, she had a
terrible nightmare in which she saw the Beast was very ill and about
to die. He was crying, “Beauty, please come back!” Beauty woke up
and went back to the castle because she did not mean to hurt the
Beast. She cried and said,
Beauty- “Please don’t die, Beast! I will live with you forever!”
Narrator- The Beast miraculously changed into a handsome prince.
He said,
Beast- “I was under a curse all these years and could only be relieved
when someone fell in love with me. I am now cured of the curse
because you truly love me.”
Narrator- And then, Beauty and the Beast were married and together
they lived happily ever after.
