Taobao.com is one of the largest website of Alibaba. It is a C2C platform for small enterprises
and individuals, that markets product to customers. It is like eBay except that the dealers do not
pay a sale fee. Rather, traders pay for the location of ads. Taobao charges no transaction costs,
and traders can access the website free of charge, a policy that helped the site attract its huge user
base. Its principal source of income is advertising fees paid by merchants. Pay-for-performance
and show ads are the two options that is available to advertisers. Alibaba's first source of revenue
from Taobao is from these advertisements.

Tmall.com

Tmall.com caters to China's rising middle class with branded items. By charging annual user
fees, sales commissions, and through running advertisements, it generates revenues for Alibaba.

Electronic payment systems, marketplaces, and data-centric cloud storage are some of the most
important revenue-generating services of Alibaba. On the other hand, Alibaba makes profits
from a variety of other subsidiaries.
