Aneesh Swamy
Hi. I would first like you to introduce yourself. Tell us your full name, where you are from, what you do and how
old you are.

I'm Aneesh Swamy, I am 20 years old. I am studying neurobiology at the University of California, San Diego.

OK. First, I'll be asking you a few questions and then I will send you the brief and then you can read it on Discord
and start with the task.

How long have you been reading fanfiction for?

Not that long, maybe like, a couple of months?

OK, what sites do you usually use to read fan fiction?

Wattpad.

OK, How was your experience with wattpad in brief?

Not that great. I didn't like it, it felt very unprofessional so I didn't like reading most of it. And the text also didn't look that
good. It's hard to find some good stories to read so I didn’t like it that much.

Do you generally prefer reading fanfiction on your desktop or on a mobile device?

On my phone.

OK. Any reason for that?

Just convenience, like whenever I'm going around or going somewhere I can just open up my phone when I'm bored and
read through it. Whereas a laptop isn't portable so...

OK, so I will now send you the question and you can go through it. Take your time in reading it. Once you have
understood the question, you can begin. Throughout the process, if you have any questions you can ask me
and I'll be asking you some questions during the task and after you complete the first task.

Yes, Sir.

(to himself) How many words is this...?

So I see that you're scrolling through this story right now. I'd like to know, how do you generally prefer to scroll?
Do you prefer pages scrolling down, or do you prefer pages that swipe from left to right?

I prefer infinite scroll, everything being on one page and just going through it.

What about auto scroll? Did you use that feature on Wattpad?

Yeah, I didn't like it. Sometimes I like to look back and read through something so I don't like auto scroll.

Do you usually look at the comments on fanfiction websites?

Only if I'm done reading through the thing and I like it, and I want to hear others’ thoughts on it. If not, I don't read through
the comments.

Where do you like your comments to be placed: at the beginning of each story, at the end of it, or at the end of
each chapter…?

At the bottom. Right at the end of each chapter pretty much. Actually, the app I used recently wasn't wattpad, it was
webtoon. I was reading something over there - I don't know if that counts as - reading but that was pretty nice. It's like
you scroll all the way to the bottom and you see some comments and when you want to move on to the next chapter, you
have to like (gesticulating scrolling down with the thumb) push - force push it or something, and then it goes on to the
next thing. I like that. It was pretty ingenious.

How specific do you get when you're usually looking for fics?

What do you mean by specific?

Do you look for certain genres? Certain characters? Do you go through tags and filters?

I think just genres in general, if I have a certain fandom in mind, then I use that. If not, then I just go buy tags. I prefer
something which has a good plot and it's not just random fanfiction. Like a good amount of effort needs to be put into it.
This is the reason I don't like having comments in the beginning, because then it could get spoiled.

Can you please narrate your thoughts? Anything that you're thinking about right now.

While reading through this, I keep losing track so that’s why I keep scrolling back and seeing, like, wait what's happening?
Because like the jump from a certain part of the story to the other part doesn't make sense. So - especially for this genre -
where you mix 2 fandoms together, I try giving it a shot but I don't like it sometimes because it just doesn't work.

Probably might be skipping to another fandom because I am really not liking this.

How many stories do you generally read in one sitting?

Not a lot, maybe one or two. Only after I find one that I like, I stick to it and just go with it.

Do you periodically follow certain fictions when there are updates that come to it?

No, not fanfictions.

Is it OK if I switch off the application and mute my notification so that they don't keep popping up?

No, that's OK. You can continue. Please don’t break away from the screen.

OK.

These are the kind of fan fictions I tend to like because they stick to the characters’ original Persona rather than
completely changing it. Here they're keeping both of their personalities sort of the same. So it makes me more inclined to
read it and stick to it.

Going with that thought, do you prefer curative fanfiction or Transformative fanfiction?

What's the difference between the both?

Well, curative means that the fiction does not deviate from Canon. Transformative is one where the writer has
more liberty with the plots and the characters.

Yeah, I prefer curative, when they stick to it.

What about your reading experience? Do you like to use dark mode? Do you like to use different fonts?

When it comes to reading I prefer reading in light mode, because you know how books are often black font on a white
sheet? A black background with white text makes it hard for me to read it. But also, I keep switching it up, I don't stick to it.

So for the most part, you prefer a book-like reading experience. Yeah, light mode pretty much.

What about the font? Is the font that the app defaults to perfect?

Perfect, yeah, I like it. Besides the font, everything is just right.

OK. Can you tell us what you're doing right now?

Uh, I don't know what fandom to look through next, I'm just looking through the list of stories they have. I see, they were
(indistinct) by fanfic category so I'm just going through it to see what options there are.

You can take your time exploring the app if you'd like, go through every option, you can absolutely take your
time doing that. If you have anything specific in mind, don't hesitate to use the tags and filters. And find your
find anything you want faster.

Yeah, I don't know what I want. One thing I don't like is the scrolling is sort of janky.

Fix codes too much on the 1st. I can see this part. Turn my keys.

OK so I have liked two stories. What do I do next?

That would be the end of the first task. All right, now I'll be asking you some questions. How easy would you say
the task was from a scale of 1 to 10?

So like 1 being easy and 10 being really hard.

Yes.

Oh, it was like 1. Pretty easy to do.

Why would you say that (it is easy)? Anything that stands out in particular that you thought was easy?

Just going through the app and trying to... like, I didn't find my true stories so actually no, I say more like a three rather
than a one because it took me awhile to find a good story under a thousand words because to find a good story usually
you have to go for around five thousand words but only after I put the filter for a thousand words did I find some good
ones.

All right, how enjoyable would you say the task was from a scale of one to ten? Ten being highly enjoyable or
one being not very enjoyable.

Seven.

OK, why would you say that?

I had to scout through them trying to find a good story and some of the stories or some of the synopses weren't really
interesting so it took a while to go and find some good stories. That’s why it wasn't super enjoyable.

How did you like the flow of things on the app? Do you think it was natural?

I mean, it took me a while because with the comment section being one, they (the developers did (implemented) swipe
left to get to the story. That part was kind of confusing, but I like the part where when you go into the UI here
(Read>Stories), when you're trying to find this (specific fandom). So at the bottom you can just swipe through different
main categories and then scroll the sub categories. I like that flow of stuff. So that was pretty nice. Nice (indistinct).

Did you have any specific problems with the app interface and its features?

Just the scrolling feature: when I Scroll down, it's really janky, it keeps popping up and down, and that confuses me. It
was like the main problem I had with rolling.

OK, what feelings would you use to describe the experience?

Some stories we're pretty funny. The authors broke the 4th wall which was interesting and nice to see. Yes, but I don't
know, I think ‘feelings’ is a pretty broad question to ask.

All right, which part of the process do you like best and why?

I really like this part where if I don't know what I want to read and I can't go looking up ‘Tower of God’ or ‘Artemis fowl’ or
something, going through this main big category (Read>Stories>All) and going through the sub categories and then
looking through what options are available, I really like that process the most.

And the opposite of that, which part of the process do you like the least and why?

Once I do find a category, everything here is so crammed together I don't know what half of these symbols mean. So it's
like, read through it and some of them (books) don't have their cover pages and that's up to the author ; It all feels really
cramped over here, so trying to read through it and figure out which one is nice to read - that was hard I didn’t like that
part.

So you would say that it was kind of overwhelming to go through that?

Yeah, we had a lot of information being thrown at you like all the symbols, T, 390, 6 to 10. I don't know what half of this
stuff means so...

OK, thank you. That was the end of the first part of the task. Now I have sent you the brief for the second part
on discord.

I have to type it on the app over here?

Please read the question brief once, just take your time.

(Indistinct reading through the brief).

I'll have to ask you to stop at 250 words so that we can finish with this, yeah?

Sure. Let me just figure out the word count.

Is that it?

Yes, that's the end of the second task. So now we will be asking you a few questions.

Would you consider yourself a writer?

Oh, no.

No? have you ever written fanfiction before?

Nope.

OK, all right. So how easy was the task again from one to ten?

I'd say it was like a six. It was kind of hard to do.

OK, interesting, why?

I couldn't find any option for line spacing. (In) some places I wanted like single line spacing some other place I wanted
double line spacing, but I couldn't find the option for that. And the publishing partner was a whole confusing part of it. I
don't know where I had to go. You have to go back in order to publish it and not go forward, which didn't make sense.
That was confusing to figure out.

How enjoyable would you say the task was?

A three.

At three? For the same reasons as before I assume?

I don't know if this is the problem with the app or what but some places autocorrect was working other places autocorrect
wasn't working so yeah, that was sort of weird.

Again, what feeling could you use to describe the experience?

Confusing, tiring, didn’t want to do it sort of thing.

OK, which part of the process do you like best and why?

I think, picking the tags and everything. I think once I started working backwards in a way, like once I started writing and
once I started publishing that's when I started to understand, ‘Oh this is what the tags mean. This is what all these
symbols mean’ and everything, so it's like everything connected in full circle.

Do you like the tag system on fanfiction?

Yeah.

How would you compare it to the tag system on Wattpad?

Uh, webtoon? OK, I like webtoon’s tag system a bit more because it's like only a single one (tag). it's just adventure /
action / romance something like that, but these are like two tags. So I mean it does get a bit more specific, but it's
unnecessarily too specific so some people might like it, but I personally just prefer one tag.

So what would you say is a good way to make the tag system better for users on this app?

Like when publishing?

Publishing and while reading.

Let me see. Let me go back. (I) Forgot how tag system looked like.

Do you find navigating through the app kind of confusing?

Sometimes yeah, when it gives you, especially the tutorial thing like click on your avatar or something like, usually when
you tap on it, it goes away, but the tick mark thing is all the way on the bottom left where like sometimes you just tend to
miss it. Sort of Annoying. General, romance, you know. If you have the two same things, I would just prefer to have it all in
just one list.

Yeah, that's like the one thing I would change.

OK, which part of the process do you like the least and why?

I'd say also this part (story manager), if you don't know (indistinct) For example, if over here (Story>Read) if I'm doing
movies there is no search button at least I can't see it. Oh there it is. Yeah, see you have to fo through here and research
and then type in whatever. If the search icon was right next to the A to Z thing then I could just go there and type in Bee
movie and go with it. But like that wasn't there so sort of like hard to use.

Finally, after everything, is there anything about the app that you would change? Any major thing about the
app that you change?

Any major thing? Honestly nothing comes to mind. No, I don't think anything comes to mind as to what I would change.

OK, that's alright.

You see how there's this community thing over here (main home page) right now? I’d prefer there was like a small banner
of people talking or whatever. So that I see some activity on the app and it’s not like a dead app or something?

You want a more outward sense of community? You want to actually see the community and not have it-

Yeah, right now, it just looks like a dead app. I wanna see that it's alive, people are using it. Sure I can see it when I read it
but I saw stuff all the way from 2017, it was like, the earliest one. So just seeing some sense of liveliness in their
community would be nice. Some dynamic stuff.

Alright, OK, thank you for that. I think this would be the end of the task. I'll be closing the recording right now.
Thank you for your time.

Yep, of course. Thank you.

Ryan Page
I’ve started the recording. Would you like to start by introducing yourself? Tell us your full name where you're
from, what you do, and how old you are.

I'm Ryan Page (Name changed to protect privacy), I'm from [redacted]. I’m 21 years old and I love Star Wars. That's one
thing that's consistent in my life compared to other things.

I'll be asking you some questions first. Have you used an app similar to Fanfiction.net before?

I have used Wattpad before, but that was, like, 3-4 years ago. Minimum. Apart from that, I’ve used Reddit to read
fanfictions. Anything people post there directly, otherwise, anything that links out. But not as such. Not an app.

Can you remember your experience with those apps?

Not with Wattpad as such, but with Reddit, usually, people either post their own stuff or they link to something that they
found somewhere else, and that's how I usually end up reading things. In terms of fanfictions, otherwise, there are a few
Star Wars YouTube channels who constantly share fanfictions and even animate them or make a live-action out of them

On their forums as well, or like on Star Wars theory (there is this channel called Star Wars theory) They have a forum. On
their forum as well, people share. And that's another case through which I have read fanfiction. I have gone to
fanfiction.net, the website, because of the links I’ve found on the Internet to read there. But as such, I never made an
account properly for doing things. It was just to go, read, and just come back.

How long have you been reading fanfiction for?

I started probably around 10-11. Initially, it was based on the stories I was reading at that time and then soon it was just for
Star Wars. At that time, it was the 39 Clues series. I used to try to find something around that.

Anything that was treasure hunt or mystery kind of a thing. After that it's just been... Usually just been Star Wars. On
reddit, I was recently just looking for things that are related to Tom Clancy's universe - the “Ryanverse”. Because that's
been pretty exciting for me.

Do you generally prefer reading fanfiction on your desktop or on a mobile device?

I definitely do not like my mobile to read anything.

I've had e-book readers before and there are some good ones, but I generally don't like it because I have to scroll too
much down because the screen is small, so you can't have a lot of text there and I do not prefer the scroll or changing
pages too much if I'm reading on digital screens.

So, if there's more text on a single screen, I would prefer that. That's why usually it's on my desktop. Otherwise,
sometimes on my iPad.

Do you still actively read fanfiction?

Currently I have been reading Star Wars and the Tom Clancy books, so if I get too much into it at that point, or if I find
some kind of a tangent in the story, which is an unsolved tangent, and I really want to find that out, then I actively look for
something. Otherwise, it's usually just anything I come across, and if I want to read, If I’m in the mood of reading at that
time...

So, the only time I search for it is if I’m trying to figure out the loopholes in a proper story, because a lot of fanfictions cover
that part as well.

I will send you the question brief on discord on interview one.

OK.

I've sent it. You can have a look at it right now. I would like to preface by saying that we prefer it If you thought
out loud. So please tell us what you're feeling at each point. What you're thinking about. Anything. And also,
when we ask you questions, we specifically want feedback about the app and its features, and not about the
story that you're reading.

OK.

Take your time, read the question and begin when you're ready.

OK.

I’ll start looking through the app.

Usually, in a lot of places, like on Amazon, If I'm looking for something and it says library, that means it's where I can go
and look for new things or something I already have. The term usually gets interchanged at different places. So initially I
thought about going into the ‘library’ instead of ‘read’ itself.

OK. Here’s Star Wars. Why are there more Harry Potter fans?

Here’s 1000 words.

It’s a good thing it gives tags for the characters that they like. And also, the time it will take per person to read.

I think I did some mistake.

And when I clicked on the tag, I was thinking that it would make the search more concise. Like, if I click on ‘Obi Wan
Kenobi’, it will take me to all the stories that have Obi Wan Kenobi, but it gave me an option to remove it from the search
instead. That's confusing.

I think... One thing... I mean, the good part here, when I searched for Obi Wan Kenobi, was that it highlights him. The
name. But at the same time, it doesn't highlight the titles. The title is same size or same thickness as the normal text and
that's... sort of... not good because I can’t really differentiate on exactly what I'm supposed to read and that... Is it just the
title of this text that I'm going to be reading?

I think I’ll read the first one mainly because of the title.

I’m supposed to favorite it. Favorite story.

Second, follow them against (indistinct).

This is confusing.

OK, now I get it why a person should read the... (reads the help information)

This is pretty similar to a lot of e-book readers.

Which e-book readers have you seen?

The best one I was using I think Is called a li... Something called lib... free, complete free app, so L-I-B- something I don't
exactly remember the name, but that's the only one I've been able to find which is good in terms of its features and in
terms of getting proper settings for changing things. I prefer reading in sort of a yellow-colored background like this
(changes background) instead of something which is completely black.

Or something that makes some color like this so...

Are you talking about librivox?

Yes, I think so. Does it have a purple-colored logo? I don't remember properly.

I'll get back to you on that.

The font size only changes when I’ve lifted my finger which is weird because I would have to change and check again
and again before I can switch. Never mind. I’ll just start reading.

I don't think it has a purple logo so I'm not very sure on that.

I’ll... I’ll just confirm. I’ll myself confirm and I’ll let you know.

Thank you.

One thing I just noticed for me is that I prefer to have something that points to the words I'm reading because it just helps
me read.

But with my phone, the screen size and everything and at the same time I also prefer to read at the top of the page. It's a
digital screen so I can't really take my finger and my thumb as I'm holding it like this (holds up phone to camera, holding it
with four fingers on the back only). I can't really take it exactly to the line I'm reading and that's lined with the top hand is a
bit at the down though. I want my thumb to be always pointing to those texts which is a bit irritating for me.

How would you prefer to have something like auto-scroll under while you read?

I wouldn't say I would like to have auto-scroll, maybe just an option because like my screen is super super tall... long.

And given that I usually prefer to keep all my required apps at the bottom so that I don't have to reach at the top, even with
when like swiping for something I just try to swipe here or swipe up from here. I do not prefer to go at the top of
something.

Anything that I would keep at the top like this search bar. I keep it so that I don't reach up as I don't want to use a lot of
apps. I prefer to keep things at the bottom here so that I don't have to reach out. So in this screen, if there is an option to
just have the text start a bit little bit lower if savior this, chosen one is here. If the text started from here, if I don't think the
top part could be like completely empty, that would have been something nice just for me so that I can reach out with my
thumb while reading at the same time it's at the top of the screen so that just gives me some extra ways to focus on the
text and not get distracted.

Well, given that function has the thing where you have to scroll through this story, would you prefer it if it was
just one page and you have to swipe through the pages?

So, for me, personally, I prefer this scroll on mobile. Even though I do not read much. (Because of the same reason). But
swiping is not preferred for me. Like on my iPad, I still prefer the complete scroll. And on my desktop, I do have the option
for swiping pages instead of scrolling through them. But I think scrolling is still better than swiping so one chapter should
go in one single scroll and then you can move to the next chapter by swiping, that's a nice thing to do. I think this one only
has one chapter, so I can't really show it.

I'm not really sure if I mean - switch yeah same thing, switch chapter has an option. This story only has one chapter, so.

(Reads in fullscreen) This is actually better, so that I do not get to see my notifications while I’m doing this, whatever full
screen thing was which I did not realize till I tried to click.

I'm pretty sure it’s given somewhere in the settings and I did not read that.

I would like it to start from where this line is, just because my thumb is able to reach at this position.

What about other ways of scrolling? Using the volume button to scroll, or tap to scroll or anything of that sort.

I do not like that kind of thing. I never use my volume buttons as such. Usually, I just use it to get the (volume) menu and
just get the volume on my own. I want things to be instead of using the buttons itself. That that mainly happens nowadays
because I have this very annoying google assistant button on the other side which – its just annoying. And there is no
option to close chain stack.

(indistinct)

Autoscroll is an interesting thing. It just takes away the control I have over the app.

And then I would be forced to read at the speed the autoscroll is happening and not at the speed at which I'm reading.

OK so I have changed my hands a couple of times so now I have shifted my friend from one side to the other, from one
hand together.

I assume that's why you prefer to read on your desktop?

Probably. Even when I'm laying on my bed and reading. I would prefer just a screen there I don't have to (use my hands).
For a long time, that's why I think it's because there's a lot more text on bigger screen than on my phone. Even though I
think I use (fontsize) just one little smaller on my desktop compared to this, so there's more text.

So, on larger scales, you generally prefer more text all at once so that you can read it all in one go?

Yes, yes yes.

Usually how much interaction do you have with a website or app that you needed to read fanfiction, even if it's
something that lets you comment, do you?

Not really. On reddit, yes, I comment. on Tumblr, Yes, I comment, but that's just because - that's mainly because it's
completely anonymous for me. Nobody in this entire world knows that it's me - it's my account. I guess that's the main
reason I have commented on reddit and on tumbler. Apart from that, usually I do not comment. Yeah, if I have to because
if I'm going to a website through Reddit usually I'll just comment on Reddit instead of the main website itself.

You've never commented on Wattpad?

I don't think so.

Usually, where do you like your comments to be on a story? Before the story? At the end of each chapter? At
the end of the entire story?

I mean, if it's something that doesn't talk around the story itself, I would prefer it to be at the start so that I can read it. I can
just move the general field. OK, is this is a keeper or is this actually bad? If it's something that contains spoilers, Then I
would prefer it to be at the end if it's something like a discussion I would prefer it to be in, but if it's just generally telling,
OK, this is a good story. I would prefer to be at the start.

Would you consider comments on most of these websites more as reviews or more as comments?

I think when it comes to anything literature, most of the things, at least with fiction, do not come out of a rationalized mind.
This is my assumption because this is how I see myself reading it because of the emotions I have for the story or with the
story line or the or the show itself or the movie itself that I'm reading for. So, it's usually just my emotions going out. My
excitement for the story. If it gives the sense of, ‘Oh yeah, this makes sense. Why did he do that? And then did this? This
should actually become part of the Canon.’ The good thing about this is that I can't see how much of the story is gone or
if I wade through 10% of the book for the chapter or something because that always gives me anxiety that 90% of it is left,
but after books always shows at the bottom-left that 5 pages are left in this chapter. So I think it is in my mind, ‘OK, 5
pages more.’ I think that's where another reason why scroll is better than having swipes because you get to know how
many pages you have gone through because swipe will always give this one-page while scroll. You can't really give out
appropriate size to a scroll so over all screwed.

So, you prefer it to not show the progress.

Yes.

OK.

That is just a distraction. For me this keeps me going. OK, I guess I'm done.

How speciic do you get when you're usually looking for fics? Or do you use tags?

I would prefer tags just because I run this search for a collector specifically, who I prefer to read about. I was generally - for
the last six months - I've been reading books with Throne related to Star Wars - books and audio books. That's what I've
searched for during this time. Whenever I had to look for something specific, that's been something. Recently the
animated TV series for 'The Mandalorian’, and ‘Bad Batch’ came, so anything which fills up gaps for them because when
a show is active a lot of people are making their own theories about it, and those theories often end up as a fiction
somewhere or the other usually on particular forums, I'm not sure about fanfiction.net, I haven't been looked into that, but
on Star Wars theory, the YouTube channel their forum or people are usually discussing theories, and some people who
prefer the end of writing something like as well. Anything else that I need to do?

The next part of your task we would have you write something and then publish it on the app. But before that I
ask you some questions.

OK.

So how easy do you think the task was that you did just now on a scale of 1 to 10, one being extremely easy and
10 being difficult?

About 2-3, I'll say. So apart from the initial screen. On reading library which I got confused between. Apart from that, I
think the whole process was pretty easy. And just one other thing that I had problems with was that instead of including
their tag instead of digging it to making it more specific to the tag, it just made it remove the tag itself. So maybe three I'll
say because it didn't work. This is something I would prefer, but at the same time all the things are here. So, I’ll say three.
How enjoyable was the task on a scale of 1 to 10? 10 being highly enjoyable. 1 being not very Interesting.

I would say about 8? I think for me the whole experience would more depend on the stories and that I end up reading if
it's a good story, it would probably be better even if something else is off, I think. The story would definitely be a part of
the whole experience. For me.

OK, do you think the flow of things are natural? On the application.

The flow was right, but just here (Main menu>Read) like click on read and then stories and crossover. I'm using one
thumb to click and then I have to extend my thumb even more to go to stories. That's just a bit slow to do. That's just a
break in the things, but apart from that I think the flow was alright.

OK, which part of the process did you like The best? And why?

I think the reading process was the best one, mainly because I was able to get the preferred green color and given that
then I found out the full screen version that that that also made things better because I no longer have to see the progress
more or less. So I think the reading part is the best part.

Which part of the process did you like the least and why?

So I guess, just clicking on the tags part probably was the least one because I was expecting it to take make it a bit more
like concise search with those tags, but instead it just removes those tags. So, I guess that was something that was out of
my usual routine of going through an app.

OK, would you consider yourself a writer?

Uh, restricted, restrained, who would not publish Because he was scared of people, kind of writer? Yes.

Have you written fanfiction before?

I have created a Star Wars. I have mainly for the Clone Wars series. Just thinking about the war or something otherwise I
have usually just written things based a prompt on reddit through the subreddit of writing prompts.

When did you start writing fanfiction? At what age?

My first was doing when I was too excited about the Clone Wars. That around when I was 13. That's when my watching
Star Wars peaked.

Do you still write fanfiction?

No, it's just theories at this point it's just posting theories wherever I can. It's easier to do because I don't have to spend a
lot of time. It's just emotions mixed with, ‘Oh, this this can happen. Oh, that can happen.’ That's just easier to do at this
point.

OK, what websites have you written them on before? Even if you haven't published them, have you written
them on certain websites?

Tumblr, Wordpress, reddit. Few places I have published.

How was your experience with that?

With tumbler and reddit, the biggest thing that comes with it is anonymity. With wordpress it is always a custom
installation on my website, so it was pretty evident that I'm writing this, but I think the better of the experiences was reddit
and tumblr because there I am not really expecting something.

It's anonymous, so if somebody says something bad, I can just ignore that. Somebody says something good and adds to
the story. It's just it just makes me more excited.

Alright. I will send you the next task on discord. Please go through the question and then I will give you your
passage. Do not copy the text, please just type it. You can pull up the story on your computer.

Yeah, I've done that. So, I do know this is the publish tab because of the pen (icon).

(Indistinct mumbling to self)

I think the biggest problem I've faced right now is that I do think capitalization is (turned) on for me, but it's not happening.
I'm not sure why, I'm not even sure if it's an app thing, or its generally my... (phone).

Please refrain from going to any other application right now.

No, I just wanted to check the app is not for making my is not letting my keyboard to auto capitalization so after a full stop
it's supposed to change my keyboard without.

We don't capitalize later, but that's not happening, and that’s a bit irritating for me.

OK so my basic keyboard functions are not working. I was supposed to make it completely capitalized and generally my
keyboard allows to do that just by clicking on the shift button twice and it will automatically change the text into it. So all
my normal keyword features are not working here.

What would you say you generally look for in a in a good fanfiction application? Even if it's something like
Reddit or Wattpad.

You see, at the end of the day, the main story, the main content is the basic thing and getting to that.

Story is another thing that I would probably just go for. but for me to be able to reach that story somehow would be
something that would be going for me.

I wasn't sure about the buttons, what they do at the top.

The Save button is fine, though spell check seems fine. I hope that’s a spellcheck. But apart from that I wasn't sure about
these two, but I guess that's the version control and wifi share.

I have written everything the text completely.

Now please publish this story.

(indistinct talking to self) I'm not really sure what I’m exactly supposed to do here.

(indistinct talking to self) How to solve this problem?

OK, that doesn't really tell me how to publish this too.

OK, not doing something properly, but I do not know how to.

OK, I think I'm done.

How easy is the task, scale 1 through 10?

I will say this is like nine.

OK, how enjoyable was it? 1 to 10.

Not at all enjoyable. My biggest issue happened first was that my keyboard formatting wasn't working at all and 2nd the
process is a bit more confusing and I do get that you need to put in all those things, but it was not really possible and even
for selecting the categories. It took me some time to understand how I can reach Star Wars exactly where I want to be.

By clicking this button and then looking for the alphabets so that at the says A-Z that just says, ‘OK, this is sorted A-Z.’
It's sorted ascending order, that's what I thought initially and that's why I didn't use that. later on when I clicked it, and
that's when I realised. So, you know, this is just for this side bar that comes along.

Apart from that, the good part is I think it tells which parts are complete and not completely this the red parts which are
not complete and the green parts which are complete. In this process everything is compulsory, which I guess is a
requirement that's fine. This thing was a bit confusing for me because of how the whole document system works. I sort of
understand it now because of looking at the looking at the ‘how to publish’ thingy that they had, but then when you read
something as how to publish story, that should probably tell everything about it, not just, ‘OK, we do. Our system is
through documents and all.’

But this is more like that it's not telling how to properly publish the story. That was a bit confusing as well.

Was the flow of things natural? What do you think?

It seems more natural to have a button here somewhere that says ‘publish’. Because that's how most of the blogging
apps are. They have the button right here that says publish or go next or do something - add settings add tabs and all
those things. That wasn't here, so that was that. That was a bit more confusing.

Like say, working as a document 1st and then go back seems good as a document system but at the same time not
having that option right there: Publish it from that place, That's a bit unnatural for me.

Which part of the process did you like?

In the start, Formatting options is fine, but because it did not let me use my own keyboard.

For adding options in all, that was a bit more troublesome because for making the text completely capitalized, I always
write the whole thing first, then select it and then just double click and it will make it capitalize and looks super easy.

But that did not happen. Auto capitalization did not happen. That happens generally in at all other places, but here, it
didn’t happen.

OK. Which part of the process did you like the least?

I think, the writing formatting part was fine, just that my keyboard things were not working but the publishing part was the
least favorite. I think so. Because it wasn't exactly apparent where things are.

If I get here, I'll click on publish story and that's fine. And then the process starts, but essentially, I have to first go in
document manager and add the whole thing and there's no direct way of going from document Manager to publishing
the story. That was hard.

What feelings would you use to describe that experience?

A bit confusing. A lot of confusion there, because I wasn't really sure exactly what I was doing.

Alright. So, I think that's the end of those tasks. Thank you for your time.

Thank you.

Yeah, thank you. I will end the recording now.
