My Career Goal

Before coming to CCBC I wasn’t really sure on what I wanted to do for my career and I really
didn’t ask for any help. So that led to me going into my first semester last year without a true
goal in mind, for my major I chose practical nursing but after two months I was thinking to
myself do I want to nursing in the future? Because my mother is a nurse and she went through
a lot to become a nurse and now my brother is also becoming a nurse. So, I decided that
nursing wasn’t for me, so I had a few choices in mind for my major and career, I wanted to go in
to computer science and technology but I wasn’t feeling that either. But one day I was having a
conversation with my mother and she told me that I should look into social work, since it can
lineup with my father’s business. It was a good idea for me because if I get a degree in social
work, I can work full time for my father’s business and my career would be set. So, I decided to
change my major to general studies and get my associates degree and transfer to a four-year
university and get my degree in social work. So that is my career goal I have for myself, it took a
lot of time but in the end I finally have my career path resolved.
