Folk Dance – is traditional dance that


usually shows custom and traditions of a
particular region. It also states that
traditional flavors, characteristics of the
people, and their feeling, and sentiments.

What is the importance of physical


activities?

Many children today have grown in a remote control world. Many of them prefer to
watch television that play outside. They play but not the physical type of games.
Instead, they are more interested in playing online games. They use gadgets such as
tablets and downloadable apps in their cellphones that serve as alternatives for physical
activities.

Why Dancing is important?

Dancing is a good exercise. It is also a fun way to keep it. Dance helps one to have a
good body posture.

Why dancing is a good form of exercise?

Dancing prepares a body to a more instense activity. Exercises in the form of dancing
increase the level of our brain cells. In addition, dancing increases self-confidence and
sharpens the dancers memory as they memorize dance steps.

What are the levels of intensity in Physical Activity Pyramid?

The Philippine Physical Actvity Pyramid is a useful


guide that informs the Filipinos about the types of 3
activities and its equivalent energy levels that are
needed to stay healthy and fit.

Inactivity (Level 4)
This level uses little or light energy and should be done minimally. But too much
unproductive inactivity is not good for our health and fitness.

Examples: sitting, watching television, and listening to music.

Vigorous Activity (Level 2-3)


These activities use more energy because these make your heart beat faster and breathe
you faster than normal.

Examples: brisk walking, jogging, running and carrying.

Moderate Activity (Level 1)


These are activities that you naturally do as part of your daily life such as walking, playing
as your day-to-day activity.

Examples: standing, walking, and jumping.

Activity #2: Exercise in Preparation for Dancing

Provide enough room among yourselves to stretch arms to the side


without touching the next one. Learn these four kinds of exercises.

A. Isolations: exercises performed to see how parts of the body
move differently when you try out the same motion on each part of
the body.

Making Circles:

Make the following circles to the count of eight: large hand circles
to the back and front; shoulder circles forwards and back wards;
move your torso in a circular motion: front, side, back and side.

B. Aerobics: exercises for building strength and endurance for the heart and lungs.

Jumps:

Make one jump in each direction, to the front, back, right side, then, left side, Repeat
this set eight times.

Slides:

Make three slides in each direction like jump set. Repeat eight times.

C. Stretches: exercises for flexibility.

In standing position, lower your head slowly. Roll down each part of your back till your
hands reach to the floor. Let your head and arms hang down. If you cannot, just stops
when you’ve gone as far as you can without forcing. Then slowly roll back up standing
position with the head coming up last.
