This was a difficult module for me, this has been my hardest stimulation. With

that in mind, as it came to approaching this paper. This is was a tough stimulation for

me when it came to scoring high, I tried my hardest, but I feel when I have my mind on

something the first time, I only try to change it around just a bit the second time around,

but that didn’t help with my scoring the second time.

First, I read the blog on Project Management Hut entitled “The appearance of a

Non-Leader”. This article was based on the idea that a Project Managers needs to be

able to lead good and put good leaders in place where the project will be able to have

people in the right seat on the bus. Working at Starbucks we call this having Aces in

their places. In the project management simulation this week I seemed to deal with most

the struggle to find the right human mix. The direction and encouragement of the blog

was to make sure that in the natural leadership is changed solid leaders. This makes it

possible to have people who are in the positions. Some people inside of the projects

that a person manages may do leadership positions, when in reality they do not fit in

that role. The article showed me that I should be able to find out who is a leader and

who is not a leader. Knowing the difference is a great Project manager skill to have.

Another element of

the blog I found to be helpful was the statement “If I am not picked for the position I will

support _____. “. Statements like that prove that they are not confident in themselves.
The final element that was a take a way for me was understanding that not so much in

the simulation but more so in the real world that there are people who should be and

should not be in leadership position. This means that there are probably difficult choices

to be made in the process of finding the right spot for all people involved in a project.

Project managers do struggle with satisfying everyone, this is where tough decisions

and conversations come into play.

In the second blog, I read an article titled “Management by walking out of the

room.” This article is a look at the leadership style of John F. Kennedy’s leadership

style. The article talks about the presence of a leader inside of certain scenarios is not

the best thing. For me, I learned that as Project Manager there is certainly a balance of

being present with your employees and guiding them but also an equally important

balance of being away from the team. This is something I even look can take into my

workplace with managing shifts. My manager told me I’m sometimes to available for

employees that they depend on my too much and this was something I had to realize on

my own and find a balance. With project management this allows for personal work to

be accomplished as well as work to be done collectively. Something else I found to be

helpful is that the blog also mentions the value of allowing your followers to think and

decide on their own. This Is important for me because I always talk to my employees

telling them to take initiative and this is comes with making your own decisions because

you have to think of task you can be doing on down time or when is a good time to

clean.
There was plenty of helpful information in the textbook reading that pertained to

my experience within the simulation. The information I found to be helpful was in

chapter three. The section breaks down in Project management scenarios how to

resolve a problem, but also how to analyze the root problem which is good for

management. I spend a lot of time at work solving problems, I always say I feel like I

have 4 ears instead of 2, I’m always listening for problem solving situations to make

customers and my job happy because sometimes my baristas can’t solve problems.
