II. Background
The Philippine's solution and response to COVID-19 pandemic which is a global
crisis up until today has been depicted as being one of the longest and strictest
lockdowns all over the world. In connection to this, the Philippine government in
coordination with IATF, implemented rules, policies and protocols as a response
to CoVid-19 pandemic and all the local government unit as well as the different
baranggays in each place and municipalities in the Philippines were required to
follow such protocols. During the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the
barangays were required to give isolate passes to allotted agents for every
month for every family to permit versatility to the families. The barangay
regulated and helped with approving family individuals, giving out of ayuda
(financial assistance) to the constituents, sanitized barangay environmental
factors, and observed potential instances of COVID-19. Each and all barangays
were concocted exceptional methods of helping the senior residents and youth,
who are denied from leaving their homes. In connection to the new normal, the
barangays adjusted and implemented some own ways in order to maintain the
orderliness in their respective community as well as to fight against the said virus
by having their own solutions and interventions.
Through this study, the researcher aims to know what are the coping
mechanisms, as well as solutions and interventions made by the baranggay
officials in response to the threat and challenges brought by the CoVid-19
pandemic. This research study is timely and dominant for a reason that it will
help the national and local government to have an information indicating how the
selected baranggay councils responded to the pandemic and will give as a guide
and contribution in implementing more ways, solutions and interventions as we
still fight against this global crisis.
III. Objectives and Methods
The objectives of having this research study are the following:
To know the experiences of the baranggay officials in response to CoVid-19
pandemic
To know what are the ways, solutions and interventions made by the
baranggay officials in selected baranggays in the target locale as they've
faced the threat of CoVid-19 pandemic
To have further suggestions on how the baranggay officials will improve their
way of providing services to their respective communities.
In this study, the researcher chose to have a qualitative type of research in order
to have a deeper interpretation of the data collected and how a certain
phenomenon affect the selected respondents of this research. According to
Bhandari (2020), a qualitative type of research involves collecting and analysing
non-numerical data (e.g., text, video, or audio) to understand concepts, opinions,
or experiences. It can be used to gather in-depth insights into a problem or
generate new ideas for research.

According to Hapal (2021), the Philippine response to COVID-19 has been
described as being one of the longest and strictest lockdowns in the world. Entire
provinces and cities were put into lockdown, mobility was restricted, and the wearing of
masks and social distancing were strictly enforced. Violations were met with punitive
action. The government relied heavily on the police and the military to ensure that order
was maintained and that all health protocols were followed. Which basically means that
the government implemented protocols and policies that needed to be followed by the
local government unit as well as the local municipality and baranggay councils.
Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, or BHERTs, usually connect
community members to health facilities — but during times of emergency their work
becomes more important than ever. These neighbourhood-based teams form the

Elements Research Topic
Research Design This research would use an Experimental Testing Design and a
Quantitative Method, with the goals of determining the efficacy
of cacao extract as an organic pesticide alternative to chemical-
based pesticides. We choose an experimental test design
because our study is more focused on experiments with our
variables. As researchers, we needed to have reliable
conclusions in our preferred design. We firmly agree that using
the correct design for our analysis would influence the direction
of our research. Using an experimental test design would
ensure adequate outcomes on which our conclusion and
recommendations for this research will be focused. This will
shed light to the research questions raised in this study.
Population Our participants will be five (5) different varieties of garden
pests. We also restricted it to this amount because we only
want accurate result in a certain region (home gardening). The
five pest classifications will be investigated further in
accordance with the individual records.
Sampling Method We will be using different sets of crop pest to test the efficiency
of cacao extract as bio pesticide. We are going to conduct
purposive sampling (Sampling method where researchers
select its respondents based on their own judgement Saunders
et al., 2021) in choosing the types of pest since our study is
only limited to home garden pest control.
Data Collection In gathering the data for this study, we have carefully followed

gather the data. Using purposive sampling we carefully
examined different types of pest. We have classified them
according to their environment. After a thorough process of
selection, we have chosen 5 different types of pest. They were
chosen under the condition of living in small garden areas. We
will then proceed in the collection of data. We will apply
structured observation to the pest. the researchers will observe
the changes in the pest after the application of chemical base
pest control and the organic pesticide made using cacao
extract. During this process, the variables of this study will be
examined thoroughly to ensure the validity of our data. We will
also ensure that the researchers will observe proper etiquette in
handling the whole process. After the collection of the data, we
will then proceed to analysing the data gathered. The data will
be analysed with the help of a processional in this respective
field. Based on the concrete analysis we will draw our final
conclusion and make recommendations.
