Setting the units – Shortcut (un)
To change unit of length – un<Length<units< CM<ok.
Switch to different elevations like east, north, south, west and we will see 2 levels
Customizing the levels,
Changing Level 0 name to Ground Level(GL)
Changing Level 1 to Ground Floor Level (GFL) and changing height to 45 cm.
Also, using elbow option on the dotted line, drag the text to the place where it does
not overlap.
To add level –
Architecture<Level<Modify<Select the line option
• Take the cursor to the working area, type 210 for lintel and click
• Name the level as Lintel Level (LL).
To use Pick Lines option, Choose Picklines<Enter offset value<Choose the level from
where the offset of desired height is needed<Click on it.
Name the level as First Floor Level(FFL).
How to create a wall –
Double click on GFL in Floor Plans.

To make wall acc. To ourself –
Properties Tab<Edit Type<Select Family<Select type<Duplicate
Name the wall
Edit the thickness and all other specifications wanted.
In this case it is named as Wall 23
. To make wall –
Select wall<Set top constraint as FFL (above level)
Then select wall and start drawing

How to extend or trim the lines –
Select the line<Select Trim / extend single element or Trim / extend multiple element
from toolbar<Select the wall up till which the wall is to be extended<select the wall
which is to be extended and do similarly for trim.
How to split the lines –
Select the line<Select Split element from toolbar<Select the wall and click where the split
is to be made.
How to mirror the drawing –
Select the lines to be mirrored<Select mirror or mirror-draw axis<then select the axis
along which it is to be mirrored<click.
3D-View
• Click View tab Create panel 3D View drop-down
• Visual line(hidden line(-realistic).

Select wall architecture .
Connect the unconnected height
Location-finish face exterior or finish face interior

III. Add Components
1. In the Load Family dialogue box, locate the folder that contains the
family or families you want to load and select them, as shown.
2. Click Open.
3. Once the family (or families) is loaded, click Component (Architecture
Tab>Build Panel> Component>Place a Component) and select the
type you want to use from the Type Selector.

1. Stairs
I. Open a plan or 3D view.
II. Click Architecture tab Circulation panel Stair drop-down (Stair by Sketch).
III. Click Modify | Create Stairs Sketch tab Draw panel Boundary.
IV. Sketch the boundaries using one of the drawing tools.
V. Click Riser.
VI. Sketch the risers using one of the drawing tools.
VII. Optionally, specify a railing type for the stair. See Specify the Railing for a
New Stair by Sketch.
VIII. Click (Finish Edit Mode).
IX. Revit generates the staircase with the railings automatically applied.
2. Ceiling
Use the Ceiling tool to create a ceiling in a reflected ceiling plan view.
Open a ceiling plan view.
Click Architecture tab Build panel (Ceiling).
In the Type Selector, select a ceiling type.
Place a ceiling using one of the following methods:
Use walls as ceiling boundaries
By default, the Automatic Ceiling tool is active. When you click inside walls that
form a closed loop, the tool places a ceiling within those boundaries. It ignores room
separator lines.
Sketch ceiling boundaries:
Click Modify |Place Ceiling tab Ceiling panel (Sketch Ceiling).
Use tools in the Draw panel of the ribbon to sketch a closed loop that defines the
ceiling boundary.
On the ribbon, click (Finish Edit Mode).

Create a topographic surface by placing points in the drawing area.
i. Open a 3D view or a site plan view.
ii. Click Massing & Site tab Model Site panel (Topo surface).
iii. By default, the Place Point tool on the ribbon is active.
iv. On the Options Bar, set a value for Elevation.
v. The points and their elevations are used to create the surface.
Next to the Elevation text box, select one of the following:
vi. Absolute Elevation. Points display at the specified elevation (from the Project
Base Point). You can place points anywhere in the active drawing area.
vii. Relative to Surface. Allows you to edit an existing topo-surface by placing
points on it at the elevation you specify. To use this option effectively, you
may want to work in a shaded 3D view.
viii. Click in the drawing area to place points. If needed, change the elevation on
the Options Bar as you place additional points.
ix. Click (Finish Surface).
Creating a road
i. A road can be made by topography surface
ii. A road can be created using the sub-region tool and
iii. then changing the material of the sub-region.
Creating door in boundary
I. Open an elevation or section view where you can access the wall that will host
the opening.
II. Click (Wall Opening).
III. Select the wall that will host the opening.
IV. Sketch a rectangular opening. ...
V. To modify an opening, click Modify, and select the opening
3. Create the Rendered Image
Change render settings, and render the image again.
Adjust exposure settings, and render the image again.
Save the rendered image as a project view.
Export the rendered image to a file.
Display the building model in the drawing area. In the Rendering dialog, click Show
the model.
