Technology has played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic by allowing education and other sectors to continue virtually. It has extended our ability to learn beyond physical classrooms and access knowledge from around the world. As a student, the author has learned to use technology efficiently in virtual classrooms and to share knowledge. While technology provides many benefits, it also has downsides, so people must learn to use it responsibly and creatively to help rather than harm others. The pandemic has accelerated the shift to flexible learning modalities in the Philippines, including printed modules, radio, television, and online learning, helping bridge gaps and continue students' academic development despite challenges.

TECHNOLOGY truly has played a vital role in alleviating how humans live and interact with the world. It
constantly flows as change, as it gradually evolves itself to the unrelenting demands and curiosity of
man’s inquisitive mind. History and time has proven how technology dramatically changed and created
meaningful and beneficial contributions in different fields. In areas of communication, business,
agriculture, medicine, and education tech stuff underpins its name to be the main culprit of efficient and
effective changes and comfort on the human existence. As such, we can never negate how technology
ripples across and affects our life one way or another.

In this time of pandemic, technology had somehow lifted us on the brink of fear and uncertainty.
Although education and other sectors have frozen into its usual state, technology had helped us to
bridge this gap, to continue thriving and live the way we used to be. With the advent of social media and
other technological platforms we got to virtually touch, learn, explore, and continue life. It has extended
our reach and belief that the four-cornered classroom of the educational institution is the only place for
us to gain knowledge. In fact, the debris of genuine knowledge are scattered everywhere and
technology brought us to them closer. By allowing users all over the world to pseudo-participate and
learn about, people have been able to acquire learning. Additionally, it paved the way for the
discoveries of potential medicine in helping to decrease the numbers and risks of getting infected with
the virus.

It is indeed amazing to think how we are able to harness our minds in continuing to develop the
face of technology. As a student learning new tools in technology, I had the opportunity to become an
expert on, not only in using technology efficiently in the virtual classrooms but a prime way to share
what I’ve learned. Incredibly, living into this generation and being able to witness, use, and experience
its advantages is a great avenue for us to get equipped with the 21 st century skills of which is a pre-
requisite skill needed to acquire and manipulate future innovations and developments. Hence, I’m
looking forward into the new discoveries and inventions that would even make our life easier and better
seemingly through the spectrum of science fiction of which I usually see in movies. We may never know
that flying cars, hologram technology, and many others would exist in the near future.

Despite this increasing benefits and importance, like any other forms of development,
technology has its own inevitable bane. The wealth of its great information is easily over shadowed by
the amount of bad things present as well. People must learn to handle and make use of technology in a
way that it helps instead of harm others. We must learn to become responsible users of this innovation,
creating beneficial changes and not destructive ones. Furthermore, it is necessary to recalibrate our
minds on its use, apply accurate methods and design new possibilities that better reach a creative and
purposeful goal. As a whole, it is with us that it sprouted and developed and May it not be us the reason
of its destruction.

The ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic had put the global education and puts the
Philippine educational system to conform into various modes of flexible learning modalities. In
many ways it seems, it has already has already been the “next big thing” in education.
The provision of this current set-up provides learners, teachers, and all other members of
the learning community to continue and foster learning adopting the right and relevant measures
and pedagogies well-suited to the schools’ interest and needs. Areas such as time, place, pace,
content, learning style, and assessment procedure were individually eyed as the effects of all these
influencing factors would ripple across through an effective flexible learning implementation. In the
local setting, schools have opted to adapt and maximize the use of printed modules under the
Modular Distance Learning (MDL) learning space reaching the last mile schools who have
unavailable internet connection. Students were given schedules and much time to answer the
modules at their own phase with ease. On the other hand, other institutions have used mixed
modalities, RBI, TVBI, and online learning to deliver learning.
With the outstretched of figures of people getting affected by the virus, the ongoing
demand and shift of traditional learning to flexible learning have provided learners to still be
immersed towards learning defying distance and all other adversities. Moreover flexible learning
had helped bridge the gap of learning inadequacy among learners. It undoubtedly provided learning
opportunities, along with the consistent learning intervention and home visitation of the learning
facilitators to assist them in understanding the content of the modules.
All in all, the idea that nothing can impede the child’s academic development is indeed a
pure fact given the adjustments and flexible programs the curriculum implementers have took and
the schools have initiated. Hence, as face to face classes will soon be implemented, learners can
eventually share much of the concepts and the lessons they’ve learned from the mentioned
modality as if F2F classes was been implemented.
