This practical report studied the effect of various concentrations of softener on the hand feel of 100% cotton fabric. Sample A used 10g/l of softener, Sample B used 50g/l, and Sample C used 80g/l. The sample with the highest concentration of softener (Sample C) felt the softest. Softeners can improve properties like smoothness, flexibility, drape and pliability of textiles while restoring a satisfactory hand feel, but may reduce properties like crockfastness.
