REFLECTION ON PHILIPPINE MORAL TRANSFORMATION 2020 PHASE 1
Module 1
“ Bawat Tahanan, Simbahan-bawat Pamilya May Kapilya”. The church the universal body of believers, is
called family of God family does more than reflects God’s character. It provides a safe place where
children can experience God’s love (through their parents) and learn how to love other people. Even
Christ himself was born within the context of a family. “God in the Flesh” submitted to an earthly model
what it means to honor parents and to benefit from their loving direction. It was within the nurturing
care of his earthly family that “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Local
individuals and groups can make a real difference. They are able to instill a greater sense of
responsibility, a strong sense of community, a readiness to protect others, a spirit of creativity and a
deep love for the land. But God did not create man as a solitary, for from the beginning” male and
female he created them. Their companionship produces the primary form of interpersonal communion.
For by his innermost nature man is a social being, and unless he relates himself to others, he can
neither live nor develop his potential. We have shown that the Christian church has always been
involved in the transformation of society, especially as it took sides with the poor and oppressed. At
times it seemed to have lost this focus, but somehow, throughout the ages, it has managed to sustain
this mission responsibility. Today, more than ever, given the increasing poverty, violence and injustices
in the world, the Christian church is called upon to embrace, engage and continue with its task of being
an agent for transformation and change. It must fulfill the gospel imperative of making the world a
better place for all to live with justice, peace and harmony.
Insofar as it is a ‘small-scale Church,” the Christian family is called upon, like the “ large-scale Church,”
to be a sign of unity for the world and in this way to exercise its prophetic role by bearing witness to the
kingdom and peace of Christ, towards which the whole world is journeying. Christian families can do this
through their educational activity-that is to say by presenting to their children a model of life based on
the values of truth, freedom, justice and love-both through active and responsible involvement in the
authentically human growth of society and its institutions.
