Proses pengelasan yang memanfaatkan panas dari arc (busur api) yang tercipta antara
ujung non consummable electrode (tungsten) dan workpiece.
Inert gas digunakan sebagai shielding gas yang melindungi arc terhadap kontaminasi
udara sekitarnya.
Umumnya filler rod digunakan sebagai matrial pengisi dan diumpan secara manual ke
welding pool, beberapa aplikasi tidak menggunakan filler.
