Work and Travel Program Rules Acknowledgement
I understand that I have to arrive to my employer on the date, which I agree with CHI during the interview process. I will work for the full duration until
the end date, again as I agree with CHI during the interview process.
I understand that I must follow the instructions given to me by CHI regarding housing. I will not arrive at my employer unannounced with my luggage. I
will provide my flight details to my agency, to my employer, and CHI. I understand that if the housing is mandatory, I will stay there for the duration of
my program.
I understand that all employment arrangements made by me, with the help of CHI, prior to my arrival, are subject to change or cancellation.
I understand that I am responsible for applying for a Social Security Number and providing it to my employer. If I experience problems or delay with the
SSN, I need to contact CHI immediately for assistance.
I understand that my CHI-arranged job will be my primary commitment and will have priority before any second jobs.
I understand that I must receive authorization from CHI before starting a second job and that failure to do so may result in termination from the WT
program.
I understand that every job requires some lifting, cleaning or physical activity. I understand that I am taking a job, which I can perform successfully and I
do not have any physical limitations or illness to prevent me from doing my job. I also will not select a job in an area that would not be desirable or
conducive to my health, ex. High altitude (mountainous areas), cold climates (ski resorts or Northern States).
Although federal program regulations state participants cannot be held in a job against their will, CHI's program policy requires participants to
communicate directly with both their employer AND CHI to give a one week notice in writing which indicates when they plan to leave their job
placement and their reason for leaving. Should the participant "no call/no show" at the work placement, this action will be considered a violation of the
program sponsor's (CHI) rules, and may result in a participant's negative program status. Participants must consult with CHI before taking any action to
leave their job.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Grooming, Clothing participant must bring/purchase:
In the United States cultural you must shower daily and use antiperspirant. Visible tattoos are permitted as they don’t contain objectionable words or
imagery. Please make sure your fingernails are clean, well-manicured and of either short or moderate length. Any employee with long hair must have it
up and off their shoulders.
Duties included but not limited to:
Duties include making beds, vacuuming, emptying trash, wiping surfaces. You will clean bathrooms; scrubbing basins, bathtubs, showers, doors, toilets,
and floors. Replenish ashtrays, soaps, and tissues. Report rooms in need of repair. Report status of rooms clean/unclean, vacant/occupied. Willingness to
be exposed to environmental factors such as noise, dust and cigarette smoke. Must not have allergies. Must be able to work quickly with attention to
detail. Will clean 13 + rooms. Team players only. Hard Rock is a union property, membership of the union is mandatory. Membership costs ($100
initiation fee followed by $53.00 monthly) collected from paycheck in increments.
Additional position information:
WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT AT WORK: Housekeeping is demanding work with little downtime. Most tasks are physical, you will need to be able to
bend, kneel, climb, and reach to clean in corners and hard to reach places. Moving heavy equipment and furniture ( push/pull/lift 50lbs ) is also
required, this is all exhausting. You should not have allergies to dust, smoke, or cleaning chemicals if you accept this position. You will clean 13 + rooms
a day.  Your floor manager or supervisor will be tough on you. It will feel like they are always criticizing your work, you can not take this personally, as it
is their job to make sure everything is as perfect as possible and they will be pushing you to be perfect also. You will be assigned to clean rooms on
smoking floors, sometimes it will feel like you always get this assignment, but this may be where the hotel needs you the most. You will be asked to
support, encourage, and respect colleagues. You will be asked to remember every detail in a face paced and efficient manner. You must be able to work
in a team and handle criticism.
WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT ABOUT THE AREA: Atlantic City is a world-famous beach resort, it is also an urban environment. Students should be
comfortable in a city environment. Housing is must arrange own. Housing is older and modest at best.
MEDICAL ISSUES: If you travel to the U.S. knowing that you have a medical condition that would prevent you from working at your pre-arranged job,
CHI will terminate your program. Please disclose any allergies (food, dust, or chemical) or pre-existing conditions that may affect your ability to fulfill
your commitments at your pre-arranged job. If you have a sudden medical problem that prevents you from working at your pre-arranged job, you must
get a note from a doctor in the U.S. before you take any action to leave your pre-arranged job. If the medical condition is serious or is not covered by
your insurance, CHI may ask that you return to your home country, for your health and safety.
HOW TO AVOID PROGRAM TERMINATION:
Within 24 hours after arrival complete the “SEVIS VALIDATION” in your online CHI Portal. ( wt.chinet.org )
As early as possible, but no later than one week after changing addresses or phone numbers, update them in your CHI portal. ( wt.chinet.org )
Before starting work or training at a new or second job, you must get permission from CHI.
Respond to all emails from CHI. You are responsible for ensuring emails from CHI do not go to spam.
Monthly Evaluations must be completed each month you are on the Work Travel program.
Important points of job:
Orientations take place on Monday. Participants should consider arriving mid-week. Participants will clean rooms guests have smoked in.
