Personality wheel, the next step is to do the calculations
for the Design wheel. You will remember that in terms of the
Human Design System, the foetus for the first six months

The calculation for the Design wheel is based on the

wheel in one year (approximately one degree of arc a day).
When the Position of the Sun has been calculated for birth
(the Personality wheel; in the example given, J's Sun is at
29*34 Cancer ) then the Position of the Design Sun can
be found by going back exactly 88* of arc. This is
approximately three months before birth. Therefore if you
travel in time from J's birth at the end of Cancer exactly
88 degrees, you will arrive at 01*34' Taurus O

When the Rave of Johannes is integrated u/ith the Daily Rave,

that this energy is going to affect him, can allow him to

responses to that energy.
The Human Being is a duality in a dualistic u/orld. This

Johannes has definition between the Splenic (Cleansing) and
the Base of the Spine (Energy). A defined splenic center i s
a key to a healthy life. This is a stranger with whom you
can be cotnfortable. It is easy for him to make you feel
good. However, this is a channel of Judgment. Johannes i s by
definition never satisfied and therefore neither are t hose
who he makes feel good. (This is not necessarily negative,

we are always speaking of energy.) Not being satisfied is
healthy for Johannes. It fires his mental curiosity äs well.

Johannes1 third definition is between the Sacral (Sexual)

and the Base of the Spine (Energy). The Sacral and Spine are
the two engines of the body, one general, the Spine, and the
other specific sexual and reproductive. The connections be-
tween these centers divide the energy into three types,
Cyclic, Pulse (like with Johannes), and Focused. By defini-
tion Johannes1 energy will constantly fluctuate, and this
definition is connected permanently to the other definition
of Judgment.

Here the body graph is broken up into five parts for easier
focus, and a check l i st i s provided for each gate that i s
open in the design and what that Potential is. We will
return to this Illustration äs a reference.
In looking at Johannes1 body graph, you can see that t he
sirnplest bridge between his areas of definition is through
the hexagram 20. This is the hexagram of Contemplation, and R A V E
when it is connected to the hexagram 57, the result is the Channel and Definition
energy of penetrating awareness. This is when Johannes Analysis Graph
underständs and is in harmony with his body. See Illus-
tration 3: the bridge changes the design. All bridges are
temporary. If the bridge is made by a planet, the length of Illustration 3
time the bridge exists depends on the speed of the planet's
movements. (Pluto the longest, approximately three years,
and the Moon the shortest and raost frequent, approximately
half a day, once a month. The Sun for example enters the
hexagram 20 the beginning of Gemini, in the late spring each

an ephemeris).
It i s irnportant to remember that when you are analysing an
individual body graph, it is being done in isolation. We are
not at any times in our lives separate. This bridge from the
20th gate which i s so important to Johannes, has been and
will be available to him all his life, through the planets
and others. There are also many other Potential bridges.
We have looked at Johannes' definition and what it means,
when areas of definition are not permanently connected. Just
äs the coloured centers attract our attention, the opposite
is also true. The undefined centers are also essential in
taking in the overview. An undefined center is just that,
not connected, without its own intrinsic nature. For ex-
ample, the three gates of Johannes1 Head center are not open
by design. This is the center of Inspiration. Johannes'
Inspiration must come from the outside. People will

naturally seek him out for understanding but not for
Inspiration. The sarae applies to Johannes' Solar Plexus
center, u/hich was discussed in the introduction. An un-
defined center is always vulnerable. It is where our life
changes. Let' s look at two visual examples of u/hat a dif-
ference a day makes. The body graphs of Illustration 4 and 5
are composites of the program for the day and Johannes.
We will return to these composites for reference later. Nou/
u/e u/i 11 just look at them simply from our overview. In the
composite of June 5, one more center, the Spiritual center,
i s connected äs a result of the general program. There is
not only one, but two channels connected between the throat
and spiritual centers. If you now refer to illustratipn 2
and its check l i st, you will see that Johannes had the
Potential for leadership, the 7th gate, and with Mars
opening the 31st gate of Influence, Johannes1 Programm for
the day will include energetic leadership (for good or bad).
The second channel is opened entirely by the planet s. This
channel is the design of the Hole model. It. is not in
•Johannes1 design at all. Therefore, he will experience what
it is like to be a role model and will effect others in that
way. This is a temporary phenomenon, but it is very useful
to know when it is coming. As a business man, it would be an
excellent time to stand out. It is a time when Johannes1
understanding is much more penetrating.
Despite the impact of these two channel openings, Johannes
remains unsatisfied. The overview still shows the Separation
between these two areas of definition.
Another effect of this day is the additional completion of
connections between already defined centers. Between the

Ajna and Throat centers, Johannes has the 17th gate open,
the harraonic gate 62 is being opened by the South Node. (The
Nodes stay approximately three months in a hexagram/gate.)
This channel is the design of the organinational being. De-
tail work and following plans. This is a beneficial balance
to Johannes1 curiosity. As you can see, the program for this
day has added to Johannes' mental potential. The organized
curiosity that can act äs a role model through its
leadership. Still, remember that no matter u/hat the Po-
tential may be, it still requires energy to manifest.
Johannes still has no bridge, and more difficult, an addi-
tional connection has been made between his Splenic and
Spine center. This is the energy of transformation opened up
by Neptune in the 54th gate. (Neptune i s in a gate for
several years.) The design is of being driven. This is am-
bition. Coupled with his insatiability, and that neither has
an outlet, Johannes ^is without harmony. He seems to know,
and others respect him, but he is unsatisfied. Others see
him äs a role model, u/hile his ambition ignores his own ac-

This can seem to be a very difficult picture, until you re-
