Chapter One: You, The Teacher, as a Person in Society –
Lesson 3: The Foundational Principles of Morality and You
“When you carry out acts of kindness, you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something
inside your body responds and says, yes, this is how I ought to feel.” - Unknown-

 A. JOURNAL ENTRY (see yourself as a licensed professional teacher) 20 points.
    1. “Do good, avoid evil.” is the foundational moral principle. List at least five (5) good things
that you have to do as a teacher and five (5) evil things you have to avoid doing.
                 👉 5 good things;
-teacher should always guide their students.
              -being honest
-teachers do not tolerate their students.
-be a good role model to everyone.
              -treating every students fairly.
                 👉 5 evil things;
              -avoid comparing the students
              -avoid critism to the students
-leaving the class for the chismiz
              -avoid being judgemental
              -being unfair to students
     2. The Golden Rule for Christian is, “Do to others what you would like others to do to
you.” Give a concrete application of the Golden Rule as you relate to a learner, to a fellow
teacher, to a parent, or any member of the community and to your superiors.
👉Showing the love and good treatment to everyone is what we want also to be
treated. Given or received. If you would like to help someone you think is less fortunate, do
          it from love not pity.
 B. RESEARCH: (40 points)
    1. What do the following statements imply about the role of religion in the moral formation of
       man?
       a. “If God did not exist, then everything would be permitted.” – Dostoyevsky
       b. “There is no doubt that man can organize the world without God, but in the final
analysis he can organize it against man.” – Pope Paul
👉They both indicate that religion is necessary for moral action and moral action
is necessary to achieve the social good. But the second sentence is not actually a vey
good summary of Paul IV. I prefer this one. “True, man can organize the world apart
from God, but without God man can organize it in the end only to man's detriment. An
isolated humanism is an inhuman humanism”. The essence of the idea is that man is
made in the image and likeness of God so without a recognition of the attributes of
God, we cannot know what man is. And if we don’t know what man is, how could we
possibly design a system for his /her flourishing.
     2. How does conscience relate to morality?
👉conscience is understood as the voice that every same person carries within
herself or himself that tells right from wrong, regardless of the law or the opinions of
people around her or him, and also it help us to be aware in our moral doings.
     3. What is meant by the statement “The Sabbath is made for man and not man for
          Sabbath.”?
👉This statements talk about that God wants you to have a day off from your
work and have a day to focus on spiritual matters. The Sabbath is intended to be a day of
physical rest but also a day of spiritual renewal and rejuvenation. This spiritual purpose is
why we should set the Sabbath apart as holy and a day to assemble together for worship.
 C. MUSIC VIDEO COVER (100 points)

Lesson 4: Values Formation and You
“Education in values means the cultivation of affectivity, leading the educand through exposure to an
experience of value and of the valuable.” – R. Aquino-
                                                 Synapse Strengtheners
    A. JOURNAL ENTRY (20 points):
         1. Should values be taught? Why?
👉 Yes, because values help us to grow and develop better. It is very important to
us that having a moral values have an impact of our achievement and behavior. It help
us to know what is good and bad
             2. What is the effect of good habit (virtue) and bad habit (vice) on the will?
👉 Good habits make our life better, it help us to reach our goal on life. Doing good
habits in the eye of God can make our life better because doing good works to one
another is a very big help to reach our goal in life, its because God is with us, He guides
our daily living. While doing bad habit can make your life miserable, because it is a the
one who interrupt our life and prevent us from accomplishing our goals.
    B. RESEARCH (40 points):
         1. Read the following and in the context of value formation, write down your
response/action plan to each as a proof that you accept continuing personal value
            formation:
            a. “Take care of your thoughts, they become your actions; take care of your
actions, they become your habit; take care of your habits, they become your
character; take care of your character, it becomes your destiny!”
👉 This phase talks about a person passes through various stage of life with
some thing to achieve and how he get that thing is destiny but it is not easy to get it.
One is passing through various stages of life with innumerable belief but few
                    succeed.
                 b. “What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world yet loses his own
                    soul?”
👉 It is important for those of us who are Christian to remember that our
physical lives don’t last forever. Our souls will last an eternity, and thus we should
place even more emphasis on the health of our souls than the health of our bodies.
It is important to nourish but our souls also need nourishment and that nourishment
is love. We need to love and be loved by others and since God is love, He is the
ultimate source of nourishment for our souls
                 c. “Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of
                    value.” – Albert Einstein
👉 Albert Einstein said that become a man of value in other words keep
honesty, hardworking, equality or empathy towards others as the core values that
you should abide to. Because when you do that you not just nurture your character
but also influence the people you care in a good way.
                 d. “Di baling mahirap, basta’t may dangal.”
👉 It does matter even if you are poor, as long as you have honor or to that
effect. The specific message is that it is more honorable even if you are poor than a
rich man who is corrupt and dishonest.
    C. INTERVIEW (100 points):
Interview a former alcoholic who was rehabilitated. Ask how his alcoholism affected
himself, his job, and his relationship with his family and community. Ask him to give his
            advice to the class.
PS: In doing this activity, please observe the health protocols of COVID-19 Pandemic.

both while on the interview mode as proofs of doing so. Just send the scanned copy or
take the picture of your output for this and send it to the instructor’s private messenger,
gmail account/email address or class group chat on or before MARCH 12, 2021 at
12:00 midnight to avoid deduction of five (5) points per day thereafter.

Lesson 5: Teaching as Your Vocation, Mission, and Profession
“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched
                                        our human feelings.”
                                                                                         – Carl Jung

Activity 1: CERA (150 pts.)
1. Make a CERA-format reflection regarding all the things you learned from the following:
      a. “The Letter to Teacher” (50 points)
                                                 “The letter to Teacher”
                    Dear Teacher
I just wanted to take sometime to express how much I enjoyed all the
activities that you've given to your students.
I learned a lot from your activities how important the role of a teacher to
her/his student, to teach them a good moral habit not just in the school but
also for the good of our society. I will never forget all the activities especially
for making an own composition music video, it gives me a big help to enhance
my capabilities to show my not so wonderful voice to everyone.
All the activities that I have learned inn this subject gives me more
knowledge and skill how I am going to handle my students someday when I
am become a licensed professional teacher.
      b. Youtube (50 points): PART 1 MOMMY, IPINA-TULFO ANG PASAWAY NA TEACHER
NG KANYANG ANAK! (You can click on the link for
subscription: https://youtu.be/DDtsnaS78z0 )
My reaction about this video as a future educator, it is unfair
that teachers are put to embarrassment just because they made
a mistake after enduring a high level of stress, frustrations and
anger out of their students actions. Teachers have so many
burdens to carry everyday and the patience reaches its limits
too. If a mom and dad together can lose their patience to their
only child, what more can a teacher . There have been many
teachers who lost their profession because of unacceptable
reasons of parents and because of misbehaving students whose
actions are always defended even when wrong.
      c. Dr. Josette T. Biyo’s Speech (50 points)
To teach is to influence every child entrusted in your care to
become better and happier. To teach is to help the child become
more human. We must strive for excellence, commit ourselves to
moral and ethical and religious values and dedicate ourselves to
                       public service.
You can follow the CERA format below with a minimum of five (5) sentences per
paragraph:
C – Content (The letter all about)
E – Experience (can be a personal experience or somebody’s experience you know that
                       would relate to the content)
R – Reflection (your reflection/realization/learning that would relate to the content)
A – Application (how will you apply your learning that would relate to the content when you
                       become a licensed professional teacher)
                                “The Letter to Teacher”
   Dear Teacher:
I am a survivor of a concentration camp.
My eyes saw what no man should witness:
                - Gas chambers built by learned engineers.
                - Children poisoned by educated physicians.
                - Infants killed by rained nurses.
                - Woman and babies shot and burned by high school and college
                   graduates.
          I am suspicious of education.
My request is: Help your students become human.
Your efforts must never produce learned monsters, skilled pyschopaths,
          and Eichmann’s.
Reading, writing, arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our
          children more human.
                         “Dr. Josette T. Biyo’s Speech”
Teaching may not be a lucrative position. It cannot guarantee
financial security. It even means investing your personal time, energy, and
resources. Sometimes it means disappointments, heartaches, and pains.
But touching the hearts of people and opening the minds of children can
give you joy and contentment which money could not buy. These are the
moments I teach for. These are the moments I live for.
