tight race, the 3 most deserving contestants have entered the
GRAND FINALE. As you know, each round of the show has some
twist in it and continuing this trend, we have a surprising twist in this
much awaited match too.Let's first meet our finalists and let's know
what they have to say about this.
Swaminathan:Vanakkam, this is Swaminathan from Chennai. I just
want to say that I am feeling very much blessed and equally
nervous too.
Ruhi Jain:Namaskar, myself Ruhi Jain As Swaminathan said,
anyone who would be standing on this stage would feel really good
but very nervous too because of the ‘twisting angles’. So yaa, quite
anxious about this time's surprise too.
Neerja Sharma: Hello everyone. My name is Neerja Sharma. I am
really speechless about what I should say because I cannot really
imagine that I am standing in the Grand Finale of Masterchef. My
family is here with me today and I hope that I bring the trophy
home. So yaa, thank you very much.
Vihaana: Thank you contestants and I wish you all the best.
Now, in this thrilling journey of 6 weeks,I have got to know this
much that you guys have a very profound knowledge of different
cuisines. You have been tested on Chinese, Italian, Mexican,
Japanese and Sri Lankan tastes but today we want you to test your
hands on Dutch cuisine. And the twisting angle is that, we have the
best Dutch chef, the Michelin Award winner Roderik Van Veen who
will judge your dishes ! With a big round of applause, let's welcome
RODERIK VAN VEEN!
Roderik:Halo everyone,I have come to this beautiful land of India
for the very first time and this land is not only diverse in cuisines but
also in languages,festivals,religions,art forms,dance,music and
what not. Of Course I have come here to judge my own speciality
but above it I will surely take away many new things from this rich
culture. And yes I would like to wish may the force be with the three
of you and you have a successful future ahead.
Vihaana: Okay contestant now your bag is full of blessings and
wishes. The upcoming 2.5 hours or actually your PRECIOUS 2.5
hours can be your life changer. So do well and and yess blessings
from my side too.So here we go…
Part 2
After two and half hours…
Roderik: Wrap Up! Wrap Up! Wrap up Contestants! The time is
over. Your dishes are prepared. And now, I believe, Vihaan, that we
can start our judging process.
Vihaana: Yes Yes Sir. Let’s call our first finalist, Abhi Nayak
Swaminathan: Hello mam I have tried this very popular dish called-
cheese croquette, which is made from the World Famous Gouda
Cheese and to my knowledge it’s a very popular typical Dutch dish.
Roderik: WOW! Can you tell me something about this dish?
Swaminathan: Yes sir, why not! So, basically, the Dutch have parties
incomplete until these croquettes are served. So like it's an iconic
dish. And to give it a pure typical Dutch taste, I have used potato,
gouda cheese, chopped parsley and some chilli flakes and salt.
Roderik: Congratulations! you have got it right… now let me taste
it...mmm...It tastes like a genuine Dutch Croquette...I am impressed.
Vihaan: Great Swaminathan… Very nice....
Ruhi now please present your dish
Ruhi: Yes mam… I have made stroopwafels which are also called
Syrup Waffles in the Netherlands. In Simple words, it’s a caramel
waffle cookie! It is made:
By mixing all purpose flour, melted butter, three-fourth cup pf white
sugar, warm milk, baking soda and vanilla extract. For making
caramel, I have used brown sugar, butter, golden syrup and
cinnamon.
Now since, this dish was ready in 45 mins, I have also made
Netherlands Special, Hagelsag.
In the Netherlands, hagelslag refers to small pieces of confectionery,
similar to sprinkles, that are used as a topping for buttered bread. This
iconic Dutch food is eaten at meals or as a snack and is popular with
both children and adults.
Roderik: (WITH AMAZEMENT) I didn't ask you anything but you have
given me all the information…. I just want to know that you have been
living in the Netherlands or what?
Ruhi: (WITH LAUGHTER) No No sir
Roderik: Gr8 Ruhi. It’s superb. Both the dishes are extremely well
made.
Vihaana: Mmmmm.. Too good… it’s very delicious
Ruhi: Thank you sir
Roderik: Neerja, now it’s your turn. Please present yours.
Neerja: So, mam, I have made Patat which is one of the most loved
fast foods of the Dutch. And to give it a typical Dutch taste, I have
made the Special Dutch Mayonnaise which actually is very different
than the normal mayonnaise we eat regularly. Why I am saying it's
different is because this means that the sauce is thinner, lighter and
sweeter than mayonnaise, although it is based around the same basic
ingredients.
If you can please taste it and tell me how you like it.
Roderik: Mmmmm… it’s amazing… It tastes exactly like the typical
Dutch one. Vihaan have it, it's amazing.
Vihaana: Yes sir. (After eating), It’s very delicious Neerja. Well done!
So nowww, we have tasted all the dishes made by the contestants.
This time, as I said, I am not going to judge, Roderik Sir I think you
must have chosen the one who's going to be awarded.
So shall we disclose the much awaited results, contestants??
Contestants: ( WITH NERVOUSNESS) Yes mam
Roderik: Vihaan, I am sorry, I don’t know whether I am breaking the
rules of Masterchef but to be honest all the three contestants were
AMAZING. I can really not give the trophy to just one person because
all of them have passed the test of making Dutch delicacies. You
won’t believe me but I felt as if I was having these dishes in my
country itself. So, for me IT’S A TIE.
Vihaana: Sir there is no rule which says that there can be no tie. Of
course, it can be possible that all the dishes are perfectly made. And
to be honest, I also felt for a minute how you would select just one
dish as all of them were simply fantastic, with the perfect use of all
ingredients and most importantly, they were all able to recreate the
authentic Dutch flavour. Everything was superbly taken care of.
So yes, this is the first time when all the three finalists will be the
MASTERCHEF OF 2021. Now wait for what? Let’s bestow Ruhi Jain
from Gujarat, Swaminathan from Chennai and Neerja Sharma from
Maharashtra with the MASTERCHEF BLAZER AND THE TROPHY.
