PI- R) Scale (20 points)

This section aims to reinforce your understanding of the topics covered

in Week 1 through the activity below.

Instructions: Below are phrases describing people’s behaviors. Please

use the rating scale below to describe how accurately each statement
describes you. Describe yourself as you generally are now, not as you
wish to be in the future. Describe yourself as you honestly see yourself,
in relation to other people you know of the same sex as you are, and
roughly your same age.

Please read each statement carefully and put a number from 1 to 5 next to it to describe how accurately the
statement describes you. Answer the guide questions at the end of the activity.

Scoring: The first thing you must do is to reverse the items that are worded in the opposite
direction. In order to do this, subtract the number you put for that item from 6. So if you put a
4, for instance, it will become a 2. Cross out the score you put when you took the scale, and put
the new number in representing your score subtracted from the number 6.

Items to be reversed in this way: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20

Next, you need to add up the scores for each of the five OCEAN scales (including the reversed numbers
where relevant). Each OCEAN score will be the sum of four items. Place the sum next to each scale
below.

15 Openness: Add items 5, 10, 15, 20

10 Conscientiousness: Add items 3, 8, 13, 18

12 Extraversion: Add items 1, 6, 11, 16

16 Agreeableness: Add items 2, 7, 12, 17

12 Neuroticism: Add items 4, 9,14, 19

Analysis:

Compare your scores to the norms below to see where you stand on each scale. If you are low on a
trait, it means you are the opposite of the trait label. For example, low on Extraversion is
Introversion, low on Openness is Conventional, and low on Agreeableness is Assertive.

19–20 Extremely High, 8–10 Low,

17–18 Very High, 6–7 Very low,

14–16 High, 4–5 Extremely low

11–13 Neither high nor low; in the middle,

words. Write your answers below:

1. How do you describe your scores on Mini IPIP Scale?

2. Do you think the results are accurate? Why?
3. Do you think personality changes through time? How?
4. Discuss how we develop our personality.
5. Differentiate personality from self.
6. How will you answer the question, “Who am I?”?

Place your answer here:

Assessing yourself is one of the hardest thing to do. But by the help of different scale that
we have like MINI IPIP SCALE you can truly find the answer in an accurate way by answering
those question politely.

My score on MINI IPIP SCALE is really amusing because you can assess yourself by
answering those statement and comparing the result in the given norms. And if you compare it to
your own perspective you will identify that the result is correct. I do believe that the result on
this scale is accurate simply because you know yourself better more than they do. But if you
don’t answer the question seriously the result will never be accurate at all. And the thing is now
that you know the result it is up to you if you will going to strengthens those weakness and turn
your weaknesses into your strength.

According to Barak Obama saying that “Change will not come if we wait for some other
person or some other time, we are the ones that we’ve been waiting for, we are the change that
we seek” and that only means that you are the one who can decide if you are going to change
your personality and make yourself better in an instant or you will choose the long process
where there is no assurance in everything that will happen in the future. Remember even if we
don’t have a great personality right now we can acquire a better one by considering what you can
do to become a better person.

Personality is very important because it what’s make you interesting in the sense of
maybe our looks cannot get attention to people surround us, but when our personality is
interesting we can grab people’s attention. Making our personality important virtually whenever
you are in the social setting, There are many ways to develop our personality but before that
make sure that you ask yourself first if you are going to be happy if you do that. First, motivate
yourself and be a better listener then after that expand your interest and of course attitude and
respect are matters to. But all of this thing make it sure that you will never give up.
Through out history the terms personality and self have been used to describe that which
makes us who we are as a human being. Personality is different from self by simply defining that
personality of the person presents themselves outwardly and self relates to how a person feels
about themselves inwardly. Yourself can be deceive through your own personality by
contradicting how you feel, for example your self feel unpleasant but your personality will show
how pleasant you are because of the environment that you are living with.

By answering all the given statement, differentiating personality to self and of course by
assessing yourself , is that answer who you really are?

What if we asked. “Who are you”. And the automatic response is to give your name and
then you feel you’ve answer that question, but it is not really the correct answer. Your name isn’t
you, it is just a label given to you so that they can identify you. People change but they remain
the same person. Yes, the question is so simple, yet it will take time or even my whole life to
answer. It is something so scary to find the answer and fragile that will make your life miserable
if you find the truth. How can I answer who I really was, First, I will ask myself what’s most
important to me , what makes me happy and what my values are because my values will
somehow define who am I. Second , discovering my passion and skill. But even if you find the
answer always remember being honest and loyal to yourself will be the key to answer who you
really are.

In summary, finding yourself is hard and it will take time to find out the truth but the
most important thing is make yourself better and useful to help the people in need.
Always remember that all the decisions that you will make even the tiniest choice will help you
define who you are later. And also remember that personality doesn’t fade away so be a better
person.
