A Little Princess

Chapter 1

1-   Describ Sara Crewe.

She was seven years old. She had long dark hair and green eyes.

2-   What was Sara thinking about in the cab?

She was thinking about her house in India, the hot sun and the blue sky there.

3-   What did Mr. Crewe buy for Sara from London?

He bought her many beautiful expensive dresses, books, flowers for her room and a big
doll with beautiful dresses.

4-   How was Sarah different from some little rich girls?

She was more interested in people and books and telling stories.

5-   What were Sara's stories about?

Her stories were about kings, queens, princesses and wonderful countries across the
sea.

6-   Why didn't Lavinia like Sara?

Because Sara's father was richer than her father and now Sara was more important
than her at school.

 
7-   How did Sara help Ermengarde to learn her lessons?

By telling her the lessons with stories

10-Sara liked beautiful dresses and dolls. She was more interested in people, books and


telling stories.

11-Ermengarde was not clever, so Sara helped her with her school lessons.

12-Sara's father was richer than Lavinia's father and because of that Lavinia didn't like
Sara.

13-Miss Minchin was always angry with Ermengarde because she could never remember
any of her school lessons.

14-Ermengarde learnt her lessons well with Sara's stories.

15-Sara was more important than Lavinia because her father was richer than Lavinia's
father.

16-Sara was kind friendly girl and she didn't like to be angry with anyone.

 
 

Chapter 2

1-   How did Mr. Crewe plan to be rich?

He put all his money into his friend's diamond mines because there were lots of
diamonds there.

2-   Who was Becky? What did she do?

She was a servant in Miss Minchin's school. She carried things upstairs and downstairs,
she cleaned the floors and made the fires.

3-   How was Sara kind to Becky?    (Two things)

Sara bought her nice things to eat and told her some of her stories.

4-   How did Becky feel after her visit to Sara's room?

She always felt better, not so tired and not so hungry.

5-   Why did Miss Minchin make a birthday party for Sara?

Because it looked good for her school.

6-   What did the lawyer tell Miss Minchin about Mr. Crewe?    (Two things)

He told her that Mr. Crewe had no money and there were no diamonds in the mines.

 
7-   What did Mr. Crewe's friend do with the money?

He ran away with all Mr. Crewe's money.

8-   What will happen to Sara after her father's death?

She will be a servant at Miss Minchin's school and work for her bread.

Chapter 3

1-   How was Sara's new life?

She learnt to clean floors and make fires. She ran upstairs and downstairs and she
worked in the kitchen.

2-   How did Sara help in the school?

She taught French to the younger children as she spoke French well.

                                    

3-   Why couldn't the girls in the school be friendly with Sara?

Because she was a servant now and they couldn't be friendly with a servant.

4-   How did Becky know about the Indian gentleman?

Through the kitchen-girl of the lawyer's family.

5-   Who was Mr. Carmichael?

He was the lawyer of the Indian gentleman.

1-   An attic is a small room under the roof where servants had their rooms.

 
2-   Sara learnt to clean floors and to make fires. She ran upstairs and downstairs, she
worked in the kitchen.

3-   The first months of Sara's new life were very hard She was always tired and hungry but
she never cried.

4-   The girls in the school were sorry for Sara but Lavinia was happy.

5-   Ermengarde was not clever, so she thought that Sara didn't want to be friendly.

6-   Sara's  room in the attic was cold and dirty.

7-   Sara fed small pieces of bread to the brown birds.

8-   Mr. Carmichael was the Indian gentleman's lawyer.

9-   Miss Minchin asked Sara to teach French to the younger children in the school.

10-As a servant girl Sara had to work very hard.

 
Chapter 4
1-   What was the lascar's name?
His name was Ram Das.
 
2-   How often did Sara go to the shops a day?
She went to the shops five or six times a day.
 
3-   What did Mr. Carrisford talk to Mr. Carmichael about?
He talked about how to find Mr. Crewe's child and take care of her.
 
4-   Why did Mr. Carrisford run away?
Because at first he didn't find any diamonds and Mr. Crewe's money was
gone.
 
5-   Why did Ram Dass come across the roof to Sara's room?
To get the monkey from her room.
                                                          
6-   Why was Sara sorry for the Indian gentlman?
Because he had no wife or family and the doctor visited him everyday.
 
7-   Why did Mr. Carmichael travel to Moscow?
To look for Mr. Crewe's child there.
 
8-   Why couldn't Sara and Becky sleep at night?
Because of the cold in the attic rooms.
 
9-   Why did Sara give the hot bread to the little girl?
Because she thought that the girl was hungrier than her.
 
10-Prove that Sara was brave in her reply to Miss Minchin?
When she replied bravely and told Miss Minchin she wasn't kind and that
wasn't a home.

8-   Sara bought some hot bread with a sixpence she found in the snow.
 
9-   Sara was very kind because she gave her hot bread to a child who had
no shoes, no coat and her thin face was blue with cold.
 
10-Mr. Carrisford though about Mr. Crewe's child everyday.
