LEARNING MATERIAL ALLOWANCES FOR 2021
Applicants must please note the following:
1. According to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) bursary funding policies and guidelines students must
elect in writing the activation of the learning material allowance.
2. Students have two options in this regard:
a. Students may receive the allowance into their bank account in which case the student are responsible for the purchase of
their learning material e.g. laptop and / or text books; or
b. Students may elect to receive a laptop facilitated by the University.
3. Only students on the DHET Bursary Scheme qualify for this allowance.
4. Closing date: 30 May 2021. Student’s not making a selection before this date may forfeit their allowances.

2.1. will abide by the rules and guidelines of the DHET Bursary Grant and utilize the learning material allowance provided to me to purchase
only text books and / or devices;
2.2. take full responsibility to ensure that I have the necessary learning material to assist me with the required University teaching and learning
methods.
3. By choosing to receive a laptop, I: -
3.1. acknowledge that the maximum amount payable for the device will be the amount equal to the learning material allowance provided by
NSFAS in the applicable academic year;
3.2. acknowledge that I will only be eligible to benefit once for the duration of my academic career;
3.3. declare that I will be liable for the debt of this laptop should my funding status change at NSFAS or I cancel my studies.;
3.4. will ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the device as well as its insurance.
