METHOD STATEMENT : CONDUIT/TRUNKING EMBEDDED IN BRICK

WALL

1. Purpose : To define an installation work and instruction for project


site team to follow when they perform the job.

2. Scope : This procedure applies to conduit/trunking install conceal/


in brick wall for Electrical and Telephone Services.
Conduit and Trunking installed for electrical
services is mainly for sub-circuit and sub-main circuits.

3. Recheck drawings to identify the locations for switches and power points which
the conduits at ceiling slabs are already done and wired.

4. Work can only begin when brickworks for brick wall are fully completed by brick
layers. A time frame of at least 4 working days allowance for our installation base
on the time of a fully completed wall by brick layer.

5. Mark all the down drop conduit route and set the required height of the back
boxes. Conduit are to be installed as straight as possible.

6. Main Contractor must provide the thickness of the wall plastering by patching
level pad and installing angle beads if any for our hacking works to ensure
sufficient embedding of the conduits

7. A cement diamond cutter is used to cut along the conduit route of the bricks
follow by electric hacker to chip off the cement / bricks to create a groove wide
and deep enough to embed the conduit.

8. When groove is ready conduit is install on the brick wall joining to the ceiling
slab conduit. The conduits are then temporary fasten to the brick wall with nails.
Mortar are patch onto the conduit approximately 500mm distance interval to keep
it firmly against the wall. The wires at ceiling slab are then drawn into conduits
and out of the back boxes. These wires will be neatly bundled inside back boxes
to avoid it protruding to ease plasterer work

9. Final plastering will be done by plasterer.

10. For areas with tile finishes no back boxes will be preinstalled. This is pending on
tile work in order that the back box will be installed according to the gridlines set
at the tiles.

11. House keeping and request for inspection when work is complete.
