Kabankalan Catholic College Guar a i Rabon in in City COACHING AND MENTORING PROGRAM PROGRAM OVERVIEW ‘ote Coaching and mentoring program is designed to help beginning teachers in the institution 10 develop their professional growth. The program has three stages as shown in the figure below: FIRST STAGE Adjustment to the school building, community, |students and preparation for the first month of school. Ordering supplies Setting up the classroom communicating with parents and students prior to the start of school SECOND STAGE Active observation with Assessment, report cards revie constructive critissm and reflection on the art and science of teaching THIRD STAGE Honing Instruction, Reviewing curriculum and parent communication Instructional planning, classroom expectations, and behavioral strategies are reviewed and improved Participation in Professional Learning Communities District and individual professional skills,and responsibilitis professional development goals being a contributing member of the school community ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MENTOR) Mentors are to be congratulated for accepting the opportunity to mentor those entering the teaching profession and for contributing to the growth of the profession ( ‘The mentor has the following responsibilities: 4 Teaching Sponsoring Encouraging 4 Counselling + Befriending BEGINNING TEACHERS Beginning teachers can be overwhelmed by the initiation to teaching and require timely assistance.
