TOURGUIDE: Good afternoon my dear tourist. I’m Kate your guide for today and it’s my pleasure to be
of service to you.

TOURGUIDE: When regards to our rules and regulations, first smoking is strictly prohibited inside the
bus, second we may always follow the itinerary given to you and always stay with the group. And if you
have any questions want to clarify don’t hesitate to call my attention. While we are waiting to our first
destination let me tell you some details about Masinloc, Zambales.

TOURGUIDE: Masinloc was considered as the first town and first Provincial Capitol of Zambales in 1607.
The old theory of how the town acquired its name was through the phrase: “it is the town where there
is a river” ,in the Bolinao-Zambal dialect interpretation “Babali nin masin ilog”. The repeated and
mispronounced phrase “masin ilog” resulted to the name “Masinloc”. It has 13 baranggays namely: San
Lorenzo, Sto. Rosario, Bamban, Inhobol, North población, South Poblacion, Collat, Tapuac, Sta. Rita,
Baloganon, Taltal, Bani and San Salvador. The people living in this town called Masinloquenos and they
are famous to their tradition called BINABAYANI(BRAVE) FESTIVAL. It is a war dance between the
Christians and Aetas that is performed every 3oth of November,it’s actually their towN fiesta.

TOURGUIDE: While about climate, Masinloc experience wet or rainy season usually during the month of
June until October. Hot or dry season for the rest of the year.

TOURGUIDE: In 1607, the Augustinian or recollect order missionaries landed and came in the shores of
Bani. Since then Masinloc was chosen as the center of missionary activities and matrix for the
development of other towns in the province.

TOURGUIDE: Now we are here in our first destination. Welcome to San Andres parish church. Please
follow me inside. It was named after its founder, Father Andres del Espiritu, A recollect priest. It was the
first and oldest Augustinian Catholic Church built in 1607, a 400 years old Church here in Zambales. This
was made of coral stones. In 2001, it was declared as a “National Culture Treasure” by the National
Museum thru presidential Decree no. 378. I’ll give you the privilege to roam around, take some photos
and enjoy the ancient architecture of this oldest Church. Please be back after 20 minutes. And we will
proceed to our next spot!

TOURGUIDE: Our next destination is the TOMOTOGOL CAVES located here in sitio Bunga Sta.Rita,
Masinloc, Zambales. Those spelunking lovers over there this would definitely excites you! But
beforehand I want to remind you to change outfit, like what we required prior to this tour, for safety
reasons. Our next spot would take an hour.

TOURGUIDE: Now you will witness a speleothems kingdom! As you can see Tomotogol caves features a
large dome of glistening stalactites supported by a broad white column. Where those stalactites made
of? Any idea from the group? As water continues to flow through the air-filled part of the cave it often
deposits calcium carbonate formations produced through slow precipitation. And this called
speleothems such as stalactites and stalagmites and that was the amazing obra that you see in front of
you now. Stalactites from on the ceilings while stalagmites on the ground. Any concerns or question you
want to us? Ok no further questions, so i’m giving you another 20 minutes to ramble around the caves.
Please be very cautious to avoid any accident.

and perfection as they offer delicious and well-prepared meals. Afterwards we will drop by to the

you a brief details about San Marcelino, Zambales. It was named after the first Captain Municipal-
Marcelino Ora. People just added “san” because during that time they fond of saints. San Marcelino
was originally owned by Sambal speaking people but as time passed by, it was entirely owned by an
Ilocano speaking people. From here, we will pass through 4 towns before we reach San Marcelino.
