Accurate body hierarchy
99 links define the skeletal structure with 148 degrees of freedom for realistic
joint movements and constraints. HBR also possesses a fully articulated spine,
shoulder and hand model. These provide the user with exceptional flexibility to
use the appropriate anthropometrical variables to tackle specific problems.
Library management
Manikin oriented libraries, such as angular limitations, comfort angles, maximum
force exertion, and other preferred angles are provided, as well as global
posture libraries and local posture libraries (grasp, pinch, grip, hook, etc.).
Advanced vision simulation

4 types of vision are available; ambinocular, binocular, monocular left and
monocular right. Vision behavioral models are used to replicate the actual
movement of the human eye so that users see precisely what the manikin sees.
The sophisticated vision features available in HBR also allow to display
peripheral cones, central cones, blind spot and line of sight. Furthermore,
adjustable fields of view and distance attributes are also provided.

Users can access to 94 of the latest, and most representative,
male and female population statistics such as US Army Natick,
NASA STD 3000 and MIL-STD 1472D. These surveys contain
data relating to anthropometrical variables, standard deviations,
percentile values and correlations.
Generation of Boundary Manikins
Manikins are generated using multi-normal modelling
techniques. Upon user input of critical variables, a

special boundary manikin algorithm unique to Human
Measurement Editor 2 automatically adjusts all other
manikin anthropometrical variables based on statistical
correlations.

Introduction of a new method for moving the manikin in IK
Mode using a 3D Mouse supported by V5
3D mouse connected into a serial or USB
port works in parallel with the regular
mouse without affecting its use.
The spatial representation is like if user
stands behind the manikin and places his
hand on the manikin’s hand, foot,
head…
Then, for example, pushing forward, left
on the mouse, will make the manikin’s
segment go forward, left…
Rotations are available in IK ‘Segment
Frame’ Mode.

Capability to create a Load specification on the manikin’s
hands
A new node called “Loads” is added under the Manikin tree.
Load data is taken into account in the new Biomechanics analysis, the
center of gravity calculation and the ‘Balance’ IK behavior property.
A double click on the Load in the specification tree allows customization
of the Load through the “Loads Properties” panel.
The 3D views of the load (arrows) can be edited via “Tools/Options ->
Human Activity Analysis”.

HAA – New Analysis
Provide the user with a new ergonomic tool for computing
biomechanical analysis data on a worker in a given posture
Calculates and outputs information such as lumbar spinal loads,
abdominal force, abdominal pressure, body moments and ground
reaction forces acting upon the worker's feet.
Outputs (based upon scientific community research) are organized in
five tabs: Summary, Spine Limit, Joint Moment Strength Data,
Reaction Forces & Moments and Segment Positions.
An “Export” button allows the user to save the biomechanical data in a
text file.
