Process selection:

Process Selection, also known as layout problem, is the decisions that distinguish the type of productive
to be used and the appropriate span of process. Understanding the process selection is a must as it
involves the strategical way of choosing which types of processes to be included in the production of a
product or in the services provided. It helps as well the business, specifically the managers, to balance
the cost, efficiency, output and quality of each production and services. Process selection decision is a
tactic use regardless the type of business, despite the fact that it is usually applied in manufacturing to
utilize process innovation consisting of project shop, job shop, batch, assembly line and constant
circulation.

Dampa diner is organizing the process flow of low-volume batch production. Though it is located in an
urban area, it has a lot of competitive merchant like jollibee and chowking which is preferred by
individuals considering its lower price and quick service. The food its produce is according to the
customer order as not to waste too much supplies and may results to cost efficiently. The diner follows
the process flow called Job shop process which focus on the strategy of low volume, high variety. This
strategy focus on low volume with a wide variety of items, it emphasizes the utilization of a specialized
technique to make a specific good that will deliver maximum output of a certain product. It considers as
well the decrease in unit cost as standardization increases, and production increases. Low volume
characteristics does not mean an absolute low volume of sales, albeit it is one of its disadvantage
particularly it is a contemporary casual dining, a relatively new type of restaurant, a sit-down dining
experience with an emphasis on the atmosphere and experience. Also it is known for mastering a
specific meal like dampa where they usually prepared seafoods. Unlike with the fast food such as
Jollibee, chowking and Mang Inasal where focus is primarily on quick service, having a casual ambiance,
lower price and food served in disposable items are required to follow large-volume batch production or
a mass production to meet the demands of their high-volume customer. High variety is the decision in
which the quality has more importance than quantity. Dampa diner offers a variety of dishes that give an
option to the customer to venture the quality of their meal category including soup, seafoods, desserts
and main course.
