Record Pro – User Guide

 When the app is first opened, it will ask for permission to access the microphone. Click ‘ok’. The microphone on
the bottom of the phone will be the incoming audio signal to the app. The phone will need to be positioned like
a microphone for optimum recording quality (under the chin).  If you wish to use an external mic, you can sign
out a TTRS adaptor cable to attach an external mic to the phone.

 Hit the ‘REC’ button on the bottom left to bring up the file recording
settings. Select the ‘Advanced ‘ tab and use the ‘+’ and ‘‐‘ to choose:

Record Format: WAV (PCM)

Sample Rate: 44,100

Bit Rate: 128 kbps

Bit Depth: 16 bits

Channels: Stereo

Silence Detection: No

 Once the settings are set, hit either ‘Start’ or ‘Rec’ to begin recording. The
VU window will open, allowing you to adjust the recording levels. Slide the
‘Input Gain’ to the left or right to decrease or increase the input levels. The
levels should be peaking between ‐5 and ‐3db. Do not go over 0db or the
sound file will distort.  Hit ‘Stop’ when done. Always do a test recording
and play back the file to check that everything is working properly before
an interview.

 When the file has stopped recording, the app will open the recorded file list briefly and then open the ‘Sharing’
options. If you want to go back to the file list, hit the ‘Back’ button.  To share a previously recorded file from the
file list, tap on the file name once and the ‘Sharing’ options window will open.

 Files can be downloaded using one of the many possibilities available with the Voice Record
Pro app.  A file can be saved to a cloud storage drive that you have an account for (ie: Google
Drive, Dropbox etc.).

 Wifi download is also an available option from the app. The app will give an IP address that
files can be downloaded from. You must have the app open and have
the ‘sharing’ options open (by tapping one of the recordings) for this option to work. Simply
tap ‘WiFi Download’ to activate the IP address.

 Tap the download arrow beside the file to be downloaded onto
the computer.

 The files can also be shared through iTunes. Once the phone (or other apple device) is connected to iTunes,
select the device (usually in the top right corner). When the ‘Summary’ appears, choose the ‘Apps’ tab.  At the
bottom, ‘File Sharing’ will appear. This will list all the apps with shareable files. The recordings in Voice Record
Pro will show in this window.  Click on the audio file you want to select it, and choose the ‘Save to’ button on the
bottom right.  Browse to the folder you wish to save it to and click ‘select folder’. A copy of the file will now be in
the chosen folder.
