I need a creative writer to write a story of a Christian who has been in the faith all his years but
suddenly
started a self-reflection of his life to question his foundational principles of Christianity, his present-day
faith, and projecting into his future to determine how and where he would end his life (either in the
kingdom of God or hell fire).
His story should be a teaching to engage the reader on topics like:
- Who is a Christian?
- Difference between a church goer and a Christian (ie going to church doesn't really purport being a
Christian. People go to church for different reasons:
Here are top reasons given by Americans who attend religious services at least once a month, according
to Pew. Survey respondents were allowed to give more than one reason. The percentage refers to
people who said this was a "very important" reason for their decision:
To become closer to God. (81%) So their children will have a moral foundation. (69%) To become a
better person. (68%) For comfort in times of trouble or sorrow. (66%) They find the sermons valuable.
(59%) To be part of a faith community. (57%) To continue their family's religious traditions. (37%) They
feel obligated to go. (31%) To meet new people or socialize. (19%) To please their family, spouse or
partner. (16%) To belong to a congregation as a place where business interests can be met and shared
(12%) To get away from boredom at home (17%)
- Reasons why people give for skipping regular religious services. Here's some of the list:
They practice their faith in "other ways." (37%) They are not believers. (28%) No reason is "very
important." (26%) They haven't found a house of worship they like. (23%) They don't like the sermons.
(18%) They don't feel welcome. (14%) They don't have the time. (12%) Poor health or mobility. (9%) No
house of worship in their area. (7%)
- Why it is important to go to church (Give reasons)
Hebrews 10:25, “do not forsake assembling,” which means we are to assemble to stir each other up in
love and encourage one other in the faith.
Jesus said “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
(Matt. 18:19–20.)
God said "...and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face
and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.…" (2 Chronicles
7:14-15)
Worshipping God is a commandment
As one of His Ten Commandments, God commanded that we keep the Sabbath day holy (Exodus 20:8–
11).
God’s Church relies on you
Apostle Paul compared the church to a body, with Jesus as the head. He said for a body to work, every
member is important and must do its part (Ephesians 4:16). Participating in church and offering your
time and talents will improve and strengthen both you and the people around you.
You gain a sense of belonging
Church is a community where we can socialize and support each other. You can make friends, feel a
sense of belonging, and build a support network that you can rely on. The church community helps us to
“Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.” (Romans 12:15)
God can speak to you
You can find answers at church. Maybe you’re struggling with a specific question or need some direction
in your life. Maybe you just need to feel God’s love and know that He is there. As you listen to sermons
and study God’s teachings, you will have opportunities to receive insight from God. He wants to
communicate with you, and church is a good place to hear His voice in your heart and mind.
He goes further to raise questions as follows that could be developed into chapters:
- Am I really a Christian?
- The Prophecy and End times
- Distraction from God's plans
What is God's plans?
It's easy to get comfortable in this world when everything is going well for us. Instead of looking forward
to spending eternity with God more than anything else, we can end up longing for more and more time
to enjoy earthly gains – the next pay cheque, work milestone, or any number of worldly rewards.
Sometimes the most striking reminders that this world isn't our true home come when we're going
through a difficult patch in our personal lives or when the world as a whole seems to be falling apart.
As Christians, it's necessary that we maintain an awareness that our true citizenship is in heaven with
God whether we're enjoying life's every moment or extremely dissatisfied by each passing day.
Not belonging to this world doesn't mean that we completely detach ourselves from it or that we
shouldn't take pleasure in many of the wonderful things that are connected to it – God puts us here for
a reason and He blesses us. But it does mean that ultimately we should seek to derive our happiness
from Him.
When we become preoccupied with worldly pursuits – fame, fortune and the like – under the illusion
that such things will bring us fulfilment, we actually end up leading an empty, superficial life. The only
way that we can live life to the full is through Christ (John 10:10).
What's more, earthly possessions fade away and worldly pursuits have to be constantly chased down. In
contrast, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). With Him we don't have to be
relentlessly changing ourselves to fit in or running to catch up. He gives us rest and renewal which,
unlike the alternatives, isn't temporary and doesn't come with ever-changing conditions.
Bible verses to help you from worldly distractions
1 Peter 2:11 – "Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which
wage war against your soul."
Titus 2:11-13 – "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to
say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this
present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and
Savior, Jesus Christ."
Luke 9:25 – "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very
self?"
1 John 2:15-17 – "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the
Father is not in them. For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but
whoever does the will of God lives forever."
Luke 16:9-10 – "I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you
will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with
much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."
- Defeating the Enemy (First Epistle of Peter (5:8): "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.")

- God's Divine Love and Mercy
"For God so loved the world that He GAVE His begotten Son..." John 3:16
Lamentations 3:22-23
Romans 2:4 "...Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not
knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?"
This jumbled up writing is a pointer to what I want:
- Realistic (what can be relayed to in everyday living)
- Teaching
- Grounded in the Word
