Support Vehicles
How to Disable/Destroy
- Small and heavy arms fire, M4, SAW, M240, M2
- M320 HE/ HEDP
- AT-4
- M3E1 HE/HEDP
Expect presence of more heavily armed protection in vicinity of support vehicles.
Prioritize harder targets.

LTVs
Toofan (MRAP) Fath Safir
How to Disable/Destroy
- Small arms fire will have limited effects due to the up-armored nature of most
LTVs.
- Heavy machine gun fire (M2) can have devastating effects on some models.
- M320 HEDP will have limited effects on MRAPs. Effective on lighter vehicles.
- AT-4
- M3E1 HEDP/HEAT
LTVs differ from country to country. It is important to identify levels of armor on
LTVs to correctly engage them.
APCs
M113
The M1126 Stryker is a
hybrid of a APC and IFV
M1117
AFRF
APC - BTR-60/70/80
- 30mm automatic cannon or
14.5 mm machine gun
- Protection against 12.7mm
and 7.62mm API
- AT-4 is the most effective
muntion to disable/destroy
this APC.
- M240 & M2 fire from the
flanks is effective.
- Call for Fire
AFRF
ASC- BRDM-2
- 14.5 mm machine gun
- Protection against 12.7mm
ball, and 7.62mm API
- AT-4 is the most effective
muntion to disable/destroy
this APC.
- M240 & M2 fire from the
flanks is effective.
- Call for Fire
PLA
APC - Type 90/92
- 12.7mm, 25mm, 30mm, and
100mm main armament
- Protection up to 12.7mm at the
front plate
- AT-4 is the most effective
muntion to disable/destroy this
APC.
- M240 & M2 fire from the flanks
is effective.
- Call for Fire
AJA
APC - BTR-60
- Russian import. Added ERA to
protect against tandem charged
munitions
- Call for Fire
What is ERA?
ERA (explosive reactive armor) is vehicle
armour that reacts to the impact of a muniton
to reduce the damage done to the vehicle
being protected.
It is most effective in protecting against
shaped charges and hardened kinetic energy
penetrators.
- It is important to understand that ERA
doe not outright counter HEAT, HEDP,
and other forms of AT ordnance.
- If possible, avoid impacting any forms of
ERA on an armored vehicle.
IFVs
M2/M3 Bradley
AFRF Hatch door in
rear, weak
spot
IFV - BMP Series
- 100 mm rifled gun, 30 mm
autocannon, and 4x ATGMs
- Protection against threats
up 12.7mm front and sides
- Thermal sights
- 7.62mm into rear hatch can
penetrate.
- AT-4 fired at sides and rear
the most effective muntion
to disable/destroy this IFV.
- Modern versions feature
electro-optical jammers.
- Call for fire
Top of turret - BMP-3M
Modern IFVs wil have electro-optical active protection system.
- Designed to disrupt the laser designator and laser
rangefinders of incoming anti-tank guided missiles
- Lasing with M3E1 FCS or Javelin CLU will alert the vehicle. If
lasing, aim around the terrain near the vehicle.
PLA
IFV - ZBD-09 (Type 9 Family)
- 30mm autocannon, coaxial 7.62
mm machine gun, 2 ATGMs Added ERA on
- Protection against threats up front plate
30mm
- Thermal sights
- Protection against 12.7mm API
from the front. Protection against
7.62mm light rounds sides and
rear.
- AT-4 fired at sides and rear the
most effective muntion to
disable/destroy this IFV.
- Call for fire
AJA
IFV - BMP-2
- Equivalent to Russian BMP-2
MBTs
M1A1/A2 Abrams
AFRF
T-62
Bore evacuator 1/3
back
5 roadcast
wheels
T-72
6 roadcast
wheels
- Most common MBTs on the modern battlefield
- Using AT-4 fire at the rear of the tank
- M3E1 HEAT to the flanks and rear
- Javelin is extremely effective
- Never engage a MBT from the front
Iraqi T-72
Syrian T-72
Added ERA, will limit
effects of tandem
charge munitions
Turret
AFRF overhang with
stand-off skirts
in Bore evacuator
frontal arc
MBT - T-80 1/3 back
Wavy front skirt
- Increased protection over
and “6 pack” ERA
T-72. ERA will cause the AT-4
to be largely ineffective
- M3E1 HEAT to the flanks and
rear
- Javelin is extremely effective
- Never engage a MBT from the
front
Updated T-80, Russian
T-80 BVM
- Advanced ERA
- Electro-optical jammer
- Do not lase targets
with these jammers.
The vehicle will know
your location and
disperse IR smoke
AFRF
MBT - T-90
- 4 layer countermeasure
system
- M3E1 HEAT to the rear
- Javelin is effective if the tank
has exhausted counter
measure options. Lasing the
T-90 will give away one’s
position
- Never engage a MBT from the
front
- Call for Fire (only >120mm)
T-90
IR “Dazzlers”
Russian MBTs store ammunition in the turret ring. A weak spot.
- Igniting the ammunition will destroy the MBT.
Leopard 3 M1A2 Abrams
Sharp angled
PLA turret,
MBT - Type 96
- Composite armor and ERA.
- No electro-optical jammers
- Thermal Imaging
- M3E1 to the rear to disable or cause
a fire.
- Javelin is effective due to lack of
electro-optical jammers.
- Call for Fire (only >120mm)
AJA
MBT - T-72S
- Russian import T-72
with modern ERA
armor added. Tandem
charge rounds can be
ineffective.
