CHAPTER 1:
1. Why is it important to produce vegetables and other farm crops?
It is important to have vegetables and other crops on the farm to help with daily living and food
sources as well as it is nutritious it also help to support business because they can sell it.
2. How do plants grow ? Explain the anatomy and the reproduction process of plant growth?
Plants growing through their roots , stems and leaves are known as vegetative, plants growing
through their flowers, fruits and seeds are known as reproductive.
3. What are the main parts of a plant? Discuss the functions of each part.
Like human beings, plants have organs too. The primary parts that form the plant are the roots,
the stem and the leaves.
The root is an essential part of a plant. It usually grows underground and constitutes the root
system. The outgrowth from the planted seed that grows downward is known as the primary
root.
The Stem supports the entire plant, include the leaves, flowers and fruits if any . It also serves
as the passage of food nutrients from the roots to the different parts of the plant, such as the
branches and the leaves.
The leaves manufacture their food by means of photosynthesis through carbon dioxide , water
and sunlight. Some leaves store food and water; other provide support for climbing plants and
some capture insects.
4. Differentiate between sexual and asexual reproduction of plant.
Sexual reproduction means the plant reproduces by itself through pollination.
Asexual reproduction of plant does not require pollination. Examples are grafting, budding
and , and marcotting. Plants reproduce by the use of their parts, such as scion and stock, joined
together to form a new plant.
