Dr. Pio Valenzuela's

In Dr. Pio Valenzuela's original account of the first rally of the Philippines, Balintawak was identified as
the initial staging area of the Philippine Revolution. He modified the location and date from
"Balintawak" to "Pugad Lawin on in the latter version.Valenzuela departed for Dapitan to meet with
Rizal to address the situation. Rizal advised him, however, that the revolution should wait until enough
weapons had been acquired and the affluent Filipinos' support had been earned.

Santiago Alvarez's

He sought to document the Revolution "in the sake of honorable truth, acceptable to all." He saw the
youth as the direct beneficiaries of his labor and wanted to illuminate the various sides of the Revolution
for them.He bravely fought the Spaniards as commander-in-chief of the Magdiwang forces before rising
to the rank of captain general. They helped free Noveleta from the Spaniards along with his father,
Mariano Ivarez, and cousin, General Pascual Ivarez.
