Crochet Flowers

This pattern provides instructions for crocheting flowers with 5 petals and a center that can be used as magnets or brooches. The petals are made with a main yarn color using single crochet and chains to create 5 petals that close in the center. The center is then made with a second yarn color using single crochets joined with a slip stitch. It is sewn into the middle of the flower and magnets or leaves and a pin are attached to the back for display.

Crochet Flowers

This pattern is written using American crochet abbreviations. Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn in 2 colours Hook: H/8 (5 mm) Other materials: Embroidery needle, glue and magnet or brooch pin FLOWER PETALS With main colour, chain 2. 10 sc into the 1st chain. Pull the tail gently to close the center hole. *Ch2, (1 dc, 1 tr) into next st, (1 tr, 1 dc) into next st, ch 2, slip st into same st; repeat from * to end of round. 5 petals in total. Fasten off and weave in end.

CENTER With second colour, chain 2. 6 sc into the 1st chain. 1 sc into each st. Slip st into the first sc to join round. Fasten off and leave a long tail. Using an embroidery needle and the tail, sew it to the center of the flower. Weave in end. FINISHING Using a hot glue gun, attach magnets to the back of the flowers.

Alternatively, crochet a few leaves and sew them and a brooch pin onto the back.
