Brief Description and General Objectives of the DepEd Program/Project:
Reading is a multifaceted process involving word recognition, comprehension, fluency, and motivation. It is a highly complex skill that
involves many cognitive elements, the prime purpose of which, is comprehension. Comprehension is a key aspect of learning to read, and refers to the
meaning, understanding and knowledge one gains from written text. Reading in its fullest sense involves weaving together word recognition and
comprehension in a fluent manner. However, some students encounter difficulty in recognizing symbols as well as in comprehending the reading material. It is for this
very need that “COVET” project and “NOVEMBEReading” project will be implemented to address this problem. “COVET” or Crave Over Exploratory visible English
Text is a project that that aims to develop reading habits among students while NOVEMBEReading project aims to develop reading interest among students.
