MODIFICATION CLASSIFICATION
MAJOR None
MINOR 152540J3374
NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.
REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
The Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Part Number (PN) is defined by a combination of hydraulic power
source, structural capabilities, type of servicing and other options available. This led to 27 NLG PN
families with limited interchangeability possibilities between each other despite technical feasibility.
This modification provides instructions for the NLG leg assembly to be administratively separated into
four Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s). The current NLG leg assembly FIN 2526GM will be split as
follows:
This will allow the modification of LRU’s without a change to the NLG leg assembly PN.
Additionally, to facilitate the merging of NLG leg PN’s into the minimum number of common legs and to
allow maximum flexibility with the different versions of LRU’s, this modification introduces:
- NLG leg assy parts for commonality (Lower torque link stop block, Intermediate harness protection
covers and clamping support)
- 2 new identification placards for Leg Structure and Leg Dressing assemblies
- Modification of the harness looms dedicated to the Weight and Balance System, if installed.
This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A320 aircraft family of the issue of
MESSIER-BUGATTI-DOWTY Service Bulletin No. 580-32-3173.
After accomplishment of this SB operators will have increased possibility of interchange between NLG
legs, independently of the hydraulic system power source, Tyre Pressure Indicating System (TPIS)
status and servicing chart.

C. REASON
(1) History
The Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Part Number (PN) is defined by a combination of
hydraulic power source, structural capabilities, type of servicing and other options
available. This led to 27 NLG PN families with limited interchangeability possibilities
between each other despite technical feasibility.
(2) Objective/Action
This modification provides instructions for the NLG leg assembly to be administratively
separated into four Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s). The current NLG leg assembly FIN
2526GM will be split as follows:
This will allow the modification of LRU’s without a change to the NLG leg assembly PN.
Additionally, to facilitate the merging of NLG leg PN’s into the minimum number of
common legs and to allow maximum flexibility with the different versions of LRU’s, this
modification introduces:
- NLG leg assy parts for commonality (Lower torque link stop block, Intermediate
harness protection covers and clamping support)
- 2 new identification placards for Leg Structure and Leg Dressing assemblies
- Modification of the harness looms dedicated to the Weight and Balance System, if
installed.
This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A320 aircraft family of the
issue of MESSIER-BUGATTI-DOWTY Service Bulletin No. 580-32-3173.

D. DESCRIPTION

F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of Design
Organization Approval No. EASA.21J.031.
If an aircraft listed in the effectivity has a modification or repair embodied that is not of
AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of this Service Bulletin, the operator is
responsible for obtaining approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation necessary
before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also not
included.
