What I Need to Know

A plumber is a person installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing


installations or systems in businesses, industries, or households. The most
dangerous aspects of being a plumber is working in and around potentially
flammable gasses pipes and working at heights. That’s why Personal
Protective Equipment is important when doing plumbing works. In this
module you will learn about the use and purpose of the different Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE) according to job requirement.
The lesson comes with learning activities designed to measure your
progress. You have to answer each to the best of your ability and be honest
as you can. Hopefully, after learning this module, you will be equipped with
knowledge and skill in plumbing.

In the previous module, you learned about the procedures in cutting and
reaming pipe according to job requirement. This includes the cutting and holding
tools, and how to handle the tools properly. Now, you will study the different Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE) used by a plumber when doing plumbing works. Answer
the activity below before you proceed.

Personal Protective Equipment is used for reducing the potential exposure to


severe accidents and diseases in the workplace.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes:

It is used to protect the head from


serious harm caused by falling objects,
an impact on other items, rain and
electric shock.

Eye protection
It is an impact-resistant lens, which
protect the eyes of the user against
blows and other kinds of injury.
