REFLECTION

Erikson’s Eight Stages of Development is an interesting study on how social experiences


creates impact across a person’s lifespan. From infancy to old age, there are important events
that need to be fulfilled for a person to feel a sense of achievement. This knowledge will help us
understand more about ourselves, thus may help us understand others through the same
experiences or the lack of it.

Having a comprehensive knowledge of the specific competencies that motivates behavior


and actions would help educators guide learners into becoming efficient and capable in an area
of their life. Although specifically, teachers will deal with learners from preschool to
adolescence stage, having a knowledge of their experiences from infancy and early childhood
would give a clear understanding of how they behave at the present. This knowledge will help
teachers in fulfilling the role of an adviser or counselor. At least in school, they will develop
masteries of their current stage in life. As a community, the school should provide experiences
that help build healthy social interactions and relationships that will positively impact the
learner’s growth and development.

A teacher who is task with a role as an adviser would have to deal with the responsibility
of observing and recognizing a student’s behavior. By doing so, would help them succeed in
mending conflicts and arguments among students. A student’s upbringing also contributes on
how they interact among their peers, react to situations, choose their interests and approach their
studies. Understanding a student would give the teacher an idea on how to approach a student, to
make them open up to a conversation and make them comfortable on speaking their thoughts and
feelings.
