History of Arnis

Arnis is the national martial art of the Philippines that originated from indigenous stick fighting techniques. It was originally called kali but was later renamed to arnis when the Spanish colonized the Philippines. Arnis uses rattan sticks and focuses on self defense training. It has evolved over time from the traditional kali techniques into a modern system called Modern Arnis, which systematized the techniques and made it appealing to modern students.
