1.0
Introduction
Industrial Training refers
to work
experience
that is relevant
to
professional development plior to graduation. One of the requirements
for the award of Faculty of Business and Management is that students
MUST complete 12 weeks of Industrial Training.
Students should note that Industrial Training is an essential component
in the development of the practical and professional skills required by an aid to prospective employment. Many employers regard this period as a chance to vet new employees for future ernployment. Industrial
Training is a mechanism to ensure students acquire practical skills and
experience professional practice, thus achieving the outcomes
of Aimst
University Graduate Attributes.
The purpose of this guide is to help you in going through the industrial
training which is a compulsory component of the curriculum. During
the industrial training period, you are expected to broaden your knowledge and experience in many areas. You are expected to be attentive and responsible to the duties given and show determination
to enquire and learn as much as possible during your placement. Please be
aware that your poor performance

Obiectives
All
sfudents who are registered
for under Faculty of
Business and
Management are required to undergo 'Industrial Training' for a period of
12 weeks.
The objective of Industrial Training includes:
a)
To expose students to the working environrnent.
b) To familiarize students with the industries they would
work for upon graduation.

the job and also provide future career opportunities.

Strictly note that it is the responsibility of each student to obtain her/his
own industrial placement for

period of 12 working weeks.
3.1 During Training
When you first join an organization or firm, you must first identify your

3.2 Working Hours

will follow the normal working hours of the organizations
which the students had been attached.
3.3 Office Attire

3.4 Annual Leave / Medication Certification

organization). Students who take Medical Certj{ication need to inJorm
their company supervisor. Students need to foilow the rules
regulations of the organizations.

3.5 Unexpected Events
In
case, a
particular student has severe fallout or some forrn of argument
(or frequent non-constructive communications) with his/her company
supervisor, the student has to inform the Faculty Supervisor as soon as
possible. In the absence o{ faculty supervisor, the student should tr1' to make immediate (don't wait until the end of the training period) contact
with the Industrial Training Coordinator to report on the uneasiness faced by hirn/her. If a student is going through (during training) any
form of harassment or working on the site or area where safety
concemed, please report to the Faculty Supervisor irnmediately.

The Faculty Supervisor will decide whether the particular student has to
change the organization for training. The student shouid not decide on
his/her own on the change of training placement pdor to the approval
of the faculty supervisor.
For any reason, i.f a student could not contact the Industrial Training
Coordinator, he
she should contact the Coordinator/Head of the school
or the Dean of the faculty.
4.0
AIMST Lecturer's/Supervisor Visit to the Organizations The Faculty Supervisor may visit the student at least once during the training period. This is one of the ways to ensure participation between
the Faculty Supervisor, the student and the company. The Company
Supervisor
is
expected
to brief the Faculty Supervisor on
student's
performance, and,
if
possible, with demonstration of the student's work.
The Faculty Supervisor

will
also discuss with the student on the

To visit the students involved with Industrial training and to discuss with training supervisor(s) on the training program or
other matter concerned. Discussions will be held with training supervisor as well as the sfudent.

company. The students and the company will be informed on the
date and time of the visit.

Daily Training Logbook
Student
will be given a Daily Logbook where all the training content/ activities need to be recorded onto it on daily basis. A Logbook which documents your activities for each week must be certilied by the
company Supervisor. (Please refer

6.1 Guideline in Preparing of Industrial Training Report

Introduction
The purpose of the Industrial Training is to provide exposure for the
students on acfual practical fields. Thtough this exposure, students will
have better understanding of actual working environment practice in
general and sense of frequent and possible problems. This training is part
of the learning process. So, the exposure that uplifts the knowledge and
experience of a student needs to be properly documented in the form of a
report. Through this report the experience gained can be delivered to their peers. A properly prepared report can facilitate the presentation of
the practical experience in an orderly, precise and interesting manner.

Contents and Format of Report
The procedure for preparation of the report has to foilow the format
determined by the Faculty based on the guidelines below.

General Report Eonnat The report has to be typewritten on white A4 size paper, font-size of
12 points with type face of Times New Roman has to be used
throughout the report, with line spacing of 1.5. The report has to be
properly ring binded with a transparent plastic sheet attached onto
it. A sample copy of report template is available at (Appendix C).
b)
Abstract/Prcface
This section of the report should consist of brief description of the
following:

2. Summary of the Report 3.
Acknowledgement
This section of the report is limited to two (2) pages only. A sample
is shown in Appendix C.
c)
Table of Contents This section of the report should consist of:

Titles
2. Sub-titles 3. Page numbers
Every appendix requires a title and each page need to be numbered accordingly.

Brief and concise description of the company/ organization in which
the student is undertaking the Industrial Training. The main items
are:

Srnnmary of Duties
This section should be the brief description of the time, duration
and types of duty carried out during the training. The description
must follow the schedule of the haining, that is,
properly recorded with

Industrial Training Assessment
The industrial training performance assessment will be based on:

Company Supervisor and it must be sent to the Faculty Supervisor in the final week of the Industrial Training.

8.0
Completion of Industrial Training
When you are in the final phase of the training, the following important
things must be done:
