Alhamdulillah, we pray praise and gratitude to Allah SWT, who always gives the grace and
guidance, so till now we are still given a chance to pray, repent, speech and move to acquire
Allah's blessing. Amin

Nowadays, in order to prepare the students facing the Globalization Era and
International communication, one of our school programs is "Homestay Pare". We
cooperate with BEC (Basic English Course) Pare, East Java Indonesia which holds an English
tutorial activity for our 8 excellent and 9 SKS class students.

In accordance to the objectives of this program, all students have to join


passionately and enthusiastically, so they can implement their English skills outside the
classroom while interacting directly to the society and students in BEC Pare which are
dynamic, attractive and Fun.

Finally, it is all that I can deliver in this guidebook. Hopefully, it can give a good
motivation especially for the students and also the teachers and staffs of SMP Islam PB.
Ssoedirman Bekasi. Thank you, have a good work with a spirit of sincerity. Insya Allah, Allah

INTRODUCTION

I.1 Name of the Program


Homestay Pare with Basic English Course
 The address where we staying in BEC PARE

 Date : 8 – 15 November 2022
 Time : 7 days
 Place : Basic English Course, Pare, Kediri, East Java

I.3 Background of the Program


Language is one of the most important part of life, because there is no any part of
this world running without language. Students can easy to get a lot of knowledge and
experiences through the language. So, language is very important in our dayli life. One of
the important language that must be mastered is English.
Curriculum 2013 has clearly explained that one of english learning goals for Junior
High School is developing some skills to communicate in English, both spoken and written
form through four English skills, suchas listening, speaking, reading, and writting.
Based on the curriculum 2013’ explaination above, PB. Soedirman Islamic Junior High
School strive to improve our student’ English skill through conducting a program name
“Homestay Pare” which is held in Palem Village, Pare, Kediri, East Java. A program which is
conducted cooperates with an English Course called Basic English Course (BEC) Pare, Kediri.
In this Homestay program, students will be directed to improve their English skill
both spoken and written form and the right place to cunduct the English learning process is
BEC. Students will be directed to learn and understand four English skills impressively in
many variations of learning activities.

The learning process is not only students feel in BEC, but also the enviroment
arround Palem village which strongly support the efforts of students to communicate in
English. Through this program also, students will learn how to build and maintain friendship
and always work together in order to survive.

I.4 Purpose of the Program


1. Apply and practice the abbility to speak English which has been obtained at school
2. Get a new experience for students in an effort to improve their English skill for
interacting both spoken and written.
3. Improve the discipline, physic and mental endurance, and skill while undergoing a
series of learning activities.
4. Implement the sense of kinship to students, teachers, and surrounding society

DAY 1
FIRST DAY, ARRIVED AT PARE

Day 1 , The first day started when we set foot in Pare at 9.00 am. We got
off the bus one by one and lined up to collect our things. After that, we were
absent by the mentors to go to going to room. I got room number 4.4 located
in the front house. After that, we collected for the next event to the front
room and continued for the opening session with the mentors.

Then we were given a rest for 15 minutes and gathered again at the
prayer room for women and the hall for the men. Then we were given the first
test sheet, followed by being called one by one for counseling with the
mentors. After that we took a break and continued the activity in the
afternoon. After the Asr prayer we moved to BEC.

At the time there, we were introduced to the BEC director. His name is
Mr. Muhammad Kalend Osen. We listened him very carefully, as he told us the
story of the recount the origirs of BEC. Then we were called one by one, to
joined our each classes , i was in class D. We gathered in our grup and made
class cheers with the mentor. After that, we returned to the homestay and
rested.

In the evening at 8.00 pm I started the first class, the material provided
by the mentor was Daily Expression and Daily Verb, and the lesson ended at
9.30 pm. I returned to my room after we picked up the cell phone and played
with it, then we went straight to bed.

DAY 2
SECOND DAY, STUDY WHEN IT RAINS

Our second day started with waking up at 4am, then praying Shubuh and
reading the Quran. After that, we were given time to clean up, then prepared
to do morning jogging. While jogging, we were asked by the mentors to
memorise the first day's material, before finally returning to the homestay.
Arriving at the homestay, we began to shower and prepare for the first lesson.

After the first lesson was over, we did dhuha prayer in jamaat. After the
dhuha prayer, we were given time to rest first before entering the second
lesson. At half past eleven, we started the second lesson until Dzuhur time.
After Dzuhur prayer in jamaat, we had lunch, and rested until Asr. After the Asr
prayer, we returned to our third lesson.

Our third lesson was at BEC. When the lesson was over and we wanted
to go home, it suddenly rained so hard that we were forced to take shelter in
one of the houses. Because the rain didn't stop, we used a tarpaulin to cover
our heads, and returned to our homestay while flooded. Arriving at the
homestay, we all immediately queued for a shower. After showering, we had
dinner and did maghrib prayer. After the maghrib prayer, we had our last
lesson until 8pm, then did isya prayer in jamaat. After Isha prayer, it was our
time to rest before continuing to the next day.

DAY 3
SPRITE, COCA COLA, FANTA, PEPSI

On Friday, the 11th of November 2022 We started the day by prayed for
subuh after awakened by mentors around 4 AM, after prayed for subuh on
mosque we back to homestay for prepared sleep tool and other goods. after
prepared our room, we collected by mentors for stretching together on the
PMI field, we walked from the homestay to the field.

When we got there, we formed a line according to class (A, B, C, D), then we do
stretching lead by mentors, there we also play games namely sprite, coca cola,
fanta, pepsi. until 6.30, we go back to homestay for break (take a bath,
breakfast), we also given time for taked handphone. after that, we have English
learning until dzuhur. For boy immediately prepare went to mosque for Friday
prayers, then the girl went to hall. after prayed we got time for lunch.

After lunch, at 1.30 we back to our class for English learning until ashar time,
we took a rest for sholat, take a bath, then eat dinner together until maghrib
time, we directly went to the mosque for sholat and reading holy Qur-an on
homestay hall, then we continued the last English class on that day. after that,
we took a break for isya prayer and we are given time taked our phone until
8.30 then we are going to our bed, before we all go to sleep we chat with
friends while joking around in the homestay.

DAY 4
“ULER-ULERAN”

Day 4 at Pare, 12 November 2022. We started with our morning with


wake up at 3.30 am and then we go to the mosque to pray subuh and then we
recites the holly qur’an, then at 5.30 we are having a exercise and went jogging
for fun around homestay area, and then after having an exercise we went back
to our dormitory to take a bath and having a breakfast before going to the next
agenda.

Next activity start at 8.30 am we went to Candi Tegowangi, after 30


minutes on the road, we arrived at Candi Tegowangi, when we arrived, we
taken a lot of picture there, beside that we also play some Indonesian game
that called “uler-uleran”, after taking a pictures and played some game we got
30 minutes free time. We can go around the candi and we can buy some snack
at the entrance. After everything we are done, we prepared to go to the next
place, it took pretty long drive until we arrived.

Next destination is Gronjong Wariti there are many rides that we can
ride there. We are doing a lot of activity that we can do like coloring and
playing mini bicycle to go around the Gronjong Wariti and there was a lot
more. We can ride every rides, if we want while we still in the environment of
Gronjong Wariti, we can also buy some snack so were not getting hungry.

So on, from the last destination we go back to the homestay because we


don’t want to go back to the dormitory late, we arrived at 1.30 pm. Then for
the girls, they got break time but for the boys they have to go to football field

to play football, they’ve done playing at 2.00 pm. When we arrived, we went to
had lunch together.

And then at 3 pm we prayed ashar and after we prayed, we start the


class until 5 pm. We get some break before we perform maghrib prayer, after
we prayed, we ate dinner together before we go back to our last class of the
day. We studied until 8.30 pm, and then we perform isha prayer, after we
prayed, we went back to our room and taken some rest.

DAY 5
CAR FREE YAY!!

Day 5, Sunday, 13 november 2022. We woke up at 3.45 am and went to the


mosque to had the subuh prayer. Then we gathered in the hall for reciting the
holy Quran. After that, we had a breakfast and prepared to go to Canda
Bhirawa Stadium.

We arrived at the stadium at 08:00 am. We went for had exercises. We ran
through the stadium few times, And then we gathered back to get instructions
from our tutors. After we get instructions from our tutors we went to the side
of the stadium for went shopping. We bought a lot of food and beverages. At
9:30 am we headed back to our dormitory. When we arrived we took a short
break until 10 am.

So on, we went to our first class of the day to learn about simple present.
After the class is over we performed Dzuhur and then we continue by having a
lunch. And we had a break from 12:30 pm until 3.00 pm. When it comes 3:00
pm we went to our class and learn about speaking, some of us are practicing
for the farewell party.

When the class is over we had a dinner and we took a bath, and we had a
maghrib prayer. After that we prepared for going to BEC. We arrived at BEC.
And then the tutors held a quiz, the person who answered all the questions
right will get a prize. After the quiz is over we went back to our dormitory at
8.30 pm and we had a rest.

DAY 6
FAREWELL

We started the day from waking up at 03:45 In the morning to do subuh


prayer and reading the holy Qur’an,and on 05:00 AM we had a morning
jogging until 06:30. After the morning jog,we continued our day by having
breakfast,then we prepared for our class that starts on 08:00 AM.

On 08:00,the morning class has started,we learned alot of basics and we


also had a game to lighten up the morning. After the class ended on 08:30
AM,we did a dhuha prayer,after the prayer time,we gathered in the hall to
watch the students presentations. When the presentations are done on 10:00
AM,we took a break for 30 minutes,and continued the class on 10:30 AM.

After the long class in the morning,we finally are taking our resting time
from 12:30 PM when the class has ended.we had our dzuhur prayer after that.
After the prayer,some of the students who hasn’t took a bath in the morning
went to take a bath,and the other students that has already took a bath or
doesn’t want to take a bath were resting in their rooms.

After the break time we went to do ashar prayer on 15:00 PM and ended
the prayer on 15:30 PM. We proceed to continue our class in that
afternoon,but some people that has to show up on the farewell party that
night has to prepare for their own shows,and they have to not join the class.
After the calss and farewell party preparation,on 17:00 PM we had a dinner
until 18:00 PM,and we continued to do maghrib prayer. We took a few breaks
again before the farewell party that will starts on 19:30 PM.

Before the farewell party started,the cast and everyone who had to
show up on the stage later,went into the BEC building first and the others
froceeded to follow afterwards. On 19:30 PM the party have begin,we started
it with an opening and some holy Qur’an reading. After the opening and some
holy Qur’an reading,everything else has begin. From the presentation that
some students have made, a traditional dance were also displayed in the stage,
not only that, there is also a drama show that everyone enjoyed and laughed
at.

We closed the farewell party and end it. We went back on 22:00 PM. We
took a last night rest,before that we packed up our things so we can go to the
Jatim Park and go back to Bekasi tomorrow with no problems on packing. After
the whole packing and cleaning,we ended the day by sleeping.

DAY 7
SAD DAY

Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 is the day we left Pare, Kediri. In the
morning The mentors woke us up to did shubuh prayer and tadarus. Then,
after we did shubuh prayer and tadarus, I took a bath and got ready before
going to Jatim Park ,Malang. Then after we ate breakfast at 06.00am, we board
to the elf at 6.30am and ready to went to Jatim Park,and it took around 2
hours on the board.We arrived there at 09.00am.

We waited for the locket to open around 30 minutes before we entered


the Jatim Park because we need to bought the tickets. As everyone waited for
their tickets, a group photo was taken with the teachers, mentors, and
students. While we waited, Went i to a cafe close to Jatim Park with several of
my friends. Then, all of the teachers led us in a line to enter "THE BAGONG
ADVANTURE," where we were instructed to follow them.

Our ticket bracelets for identification were then given to us by the staff.
After that, we all waited for the lift to the second floor. When we arrived, we
could see several body parts such as the heart, lungs, mouth, brain, eyes, or
other body parts and the entire pandemic that had occurred in the past. We
had lunch after visited "THE BAGONG ADVANTURE," and then we could enter
Jatim Park. There were so many traditional Indonesian homes and attire to be
seen at first.

A lot of Indonesian culture was there before we ever entered Jatim Park.
We can enter the rides once we have finished with it. Our first attempted for

the rides, that my friends and me choose is. First, we played a game involving a
moving bus that was both entertaining and slightly frightful.My friends and I
then went in search for further rides. Then we decided to played "ENTERPRISE
RIDE," and as I was riding it, I felt quite woozy and like I was about to pass out.

The second time we played, we were almost in the sky, and I was quite
frightened because of how high it was. After those rides, my friends and I
decided to take a break, but some of them wanted to go to "KERATON
HANTU." When they returned, I and some of my friends who did not go to the
"KERATON HANTU" also made the decision to go there.
For around 10 minutes, we waited in line to enter. However, my friends and I
decided not to go inside the "KERATON HANTU" once we had already entered
the line because we were so scared. Then we made the decision to strolling
around about before sitting down with some other friends. We sat down for a
while, we made the decision to look for another ride.

We chose to take ride the kids' planes, which was a lot of fun. After that,
we returned to where we had been sitting. Suddenly, rain started to fell, so we
made the decision to seek for a shelter at a nearby restaurant.And i, 2 of my
friends, and 1 of my teachers made the decision to order food to eat as we
waited for the rain. I choose rawon.I talked with both my friends and my
teachers.

We all walked to return to the parking area and entered the elf after
waiting for about 30 minutes for the rain to stop. Once we at the elf, we
arrived prepared to return to Pare, Kediri. We stopped to bought some stuff
before went back to Pare, Kediri. For my family, I bought alot of traditional

Malang snacks. At 19:00, we arrived at Pare, Kediri. We had our last dinner at
Pare when we arrived, which was very sad because we will be leaving Pare.

After dinner, we had to pick up our stuff. We had to leave our dormitory
at 19.45 in order to wait outside for the bus. We said goodbye to each mentor
and took pictures with them before leaving the dorm. And after waiting for 15
minutes, our bus finally arrived. We were all given permission to board, but we
did so one by one. The bus started to leave the dorm and Pare.

After all of us had boarded it, it’s a very difficult time because we have to
say goodbye to all the things we did in Pare.

CLOSING

III.1 CONCLUSION
This programme was implemented on 8-15 November 2022. During this programme, we did
many fun activities, such as learning how to make correct speech, learning different types of
sentences such as simple past, simple future, simple present, and others. We also
performed many good performances, and played many fun games. Besides learning English,
we also learnt to live independently and be disciplined. With friendly tutors, we are very
happy and comfortable doing this programme.

III.2 SUGGESTION
 FOR THE PROGRAM
i. We hope this programme can continue for generations to come.
ii. Programme duration can be longer.
iii. Since this is an English programme, people who speak in Indonesian may be
penalised.
 FOR THE SCHOOL
i. The next generation might be able to use other alternatives to the bus, as it
was tiring.
ii. The number of teacher assistants who participate in the programme could be
increased, to make the situation more manageable.
 FOR BEC PARE
i. It is recommended that BEC adds tables during learning to make the learning
process more comfortable.
ii. BEC may be able to add an air conditioner for fresher air circulation.
